Color me unimpressed In his defense, I'll say that he started out the season on fire and then went into his scoring slump when he was coming back from an injury. Some also say he was Brandon's best forward during the playoffs. So assuming he ends up back in junior, I'll be more optimistic about his potential for NHL success if he puts up gaudy numbers than someone like Blandisi. He also has the cache of being a first round pick, which might boost his trade value now that he's under contract, and assuming that it isn't obvious that he's a bust. When Lou was still GM I thought it would be a lock that Andy Greene is named captain this year, but with Shero and Hynes in I'm not so sure anymore. I still think it's probable that Greene gets named captain but they could easily have someone else like Zajac or Henrique in mind. Barry Thursday as the sides continued to work on a possible long-term deal for the restricted free agent defenseman. Larsson, 22, has a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for July 29, but the signs are positive that he will be re-signed to some kind of contract before that. Both Shero and Barry have acknowledged that if they can't get a longer-term contract done in time, they would likely agree on a two-year contract. The Devils would request a two-year award for Larsson from the arbitrator if they actually reach a hearing (the team can ask for one or two years), so a two-year contract would always be the fallback position. Who knows, apparently Boucher is playing pretty poorly in development camp so maybe this is yet another batch of busts. The roster space is available for someone these guys should be hungry as fvck. I've been reading an awful lot about Severson and Santini and it makes me incredibly hopeful for the future on our back end. Just thinking of Santini-Severson as a pairing for a long time is amazing. I mean we've been really frustrated with our forward prospects and maybe sh!t on Conte a little, but the defense prospect pool that we have is really impressive.
