SegaDevil
Sure, @LAKings is run by some social media firm that is paid big bucks to be funny and outlandish, and so far they've nailed us good. The full article is available here: http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/2012/05/29/stanley-cup-finals-how-lakings-became-a-twitter-sensation/ LA Kings @LAKingsAside from fist pumping, what else is there do in NJ? And @NHLDevils responds: New Jersey Devils @NHLDevils@LAKings there is plenty to do. We have a great aquarium, #AtlanticCity, the Statue of Liberty stands in #NJ & playoff hockey consistently. Unfortunately the Statue of Liberty does not stand in New Jersey. And "playoff hockey consistently" is a new phenomenon. This time last year our team was over a month into their summer vacation. Will LA fans insult our air quality next? Seems like they'd be knowledgeable in that subject. tl;dr -- Twitter can be very stupid.
RunninWithTheDevil
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_IslandAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the island has a land area of 59,558 square meters, or 14.717 acres, which is the property of the federal government. Liberty Island is located in the Upper New York Bay surrounded by the waters of Jersey City, New Jersey, but its built portions and docks fall under the jurisdiction of the City of New York.[3][4][5] . The historical developments which led to this construction created the rare situation of an exclave of one state, New York, being situated in another, New Jersey. technically its in New York, but only because we gave them the jurisdictional rights to liberty island land. The Statue indeed stands "in" New Jersey, but really its in New York. Once you step foot onto the island, you're in NY. new phenomenon? missing the playoffs for 1 time after 13 straight years is called consistency pal. It's IS in NJ, but because of that boneheaded pact they signed way back in the early 1800s it is considered a NY "enclave" wish someone would make a libby-sized Devils jersey and put it on just to troll the fvck out of NY
SegaDevil
"We" did not give them anything. It was never under the jurisdiction of New Jersey and was never "ours" to "give." So no, it's not really "in" New Jersey. And please do not cite Wikipedia when you're trying to make a valid point because that entry you quoted is misleading and borderline incorrect. But that's aside from the point. consistency[kuhn-sis-tuhn-see] 2. steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc.: There is consistency in his pattern of behavior. If you fail one year, consistency goes out the window. The team is in the process of rebuilding that consistency but it's embarrassing to flout consistency when the team is one year removed from missing the playoffs. NJDevs4978
This is about the only thing I don't like about this series...I can't laugh at the Kings' twitter anymore cause we're the target this time lol. I think you are confusing "consistency" with "perfection". It's not embarrassing to be proud of only missing the playoffs twice in twenty years Yeah really, if the Devils don't consistently make the playoffs, then the only team that does is Detroit. When people call an elite player consistent that doesn't mean they literally score a goal every single game. Same with great organizations. Steven M. AEWHistory
"There isn't any THERE there". I believe that was Woody Allen talking about Los Angeles and its sprawling, creeping, water-deprived, football-less existence. After reading those little TWITter swipes at NJ It appears he may have been making a much more scathing remark about the sad replacement of things cerebral with celebrity and significant with shallow. There really isn't any THERE there. That's what people will be saying about the Kings in a week. There just wasn't anything there.

Deke
might be a good spot for a ECHL or AHL team, the staten island yankees and the cyclones do very well attendance wise all summer, can't see why minor league hockey couldn't catch on the same way there one day. SegaDevil
There are a lot of sensitive fans on here. Nothing like a week between rounds to turn some of you stir-crazy. The Devils motto might as well be "Status Quo" yet the Twitter feed sometimes goes against that philosophy. Like someone mentioned above, it would be interesting to see how twitter interactions like this are handled by the organization, even if they're seemingly harmless. @LAKings insulting New Jersey is a perfect scenario of the pot calling the kettle black. It would be the same if we insulted them. And AEWHistory nails it with the Woody Allen quote. Edited May 30, 2012 by SegaDevil

It was claimed by NY in the 1670's when they were allowed to sail around all of the islands in NY Harbor to claim them as part of NY, depsite the fact that they lay within NJ's territorial boundary. That is why Liberty Island, and Ellis Island, although sitting within NJwaters, are considered part of NY. Only in the past decade or so has the Supreme Court of the US decided that Ellis Island was to be spilt between the states, with NY retaining the great hall building and NJ getting control of the rest. And we make the playoffs rather consistently, even with last years fiasco thrown in. I'd say about 26-28 teams in the NHL would kill for our playoff consistency, including those clowns from across the river.

DevilinLA
Wow, guys (especially Gata above). Its a SCF - and the LAK are there for the first time in ages - of course there has to be some trash talk. Did people really expect LA to twitter respectful messages sharing how much they think NJD has a winning tradition of hockey over their own team? Sure most folks only realized that the have a hockey team once the Lakers were put out of the picture, and sure some people would just assume put Kobe on skates, but are they not allowed to root for their team and hate the opposition - isn't that what makes a great series?
