Panthers president: Devils’ fans forced team to stop selling plastic

Has this been proven or is it just Devils PR statement?

There are other teams out there with their own smartphone apps and the like that the Devils do not have.

The Devils have won a handful of awards in the past few years for a pretty wide variety of social media programs they've implemented and continue to implement. A lot of different facets of our public relations are totally inept but our online presence is pretty advanced, especially compared to the Florida Panthers.

hahahahhahaa/

Yep, that's the winner!

For cryin' out loud, really? Dineen, just shut the hell up. First you rip the Prudential Center ice because of all the standing water at your practice, only to realize it was your own stupid fault for putting your team out there immediately after the zamboni resurfaced the rink. And now this?

The stupidity of some people ... it never ceases to amaze me.

And it should be noted that, for as much grief as some fans give Gulitti (for what reason, I still don't understand), he's been ALL OVER the Panthers for this.

Tom Gulitti ‏ @TGfireandice

Panthers sell rats at games, collect them when thrown on ice, resell, and then blame (Devils) fans for throwing them.

Tom Gulitti ‏ @TGfireandice

Here's a plastic rat for $5, but please, whatever you do don't throw it on the ice during the game (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more..)

Tom Gulitti ‏ @TGfireandice

It's definitely not the Panthers' fault that someone threw something on the ice that was sold for that specific intent.

And a nice little back-and-forth.

Tom Gulitti ‏ @TGfireandice

RT @PanthersYormark: Panthers will not sell rats at pantherland. This is a result of visiting fans throwing rats on the ice during the game.

Eric Ebertz ‏ @eeberlew71

@TGfireandice Ambiguous use of the word 'visiting'...

Tom Gulitti ‏ @TGfireandice

@eeberlew71 There were a lot of plastic rats thrown on the ice during the game. If it was all Devils fans, there must have been a lot there.

oh, wa wa waaa! All they're doing is copying Detroit with the octopus but with a twist on their rat problems in the past in their building. Look, it's just stupid to go throwing them on the ice whenever during the game. HAT tricks are a tradition, but even that slows things down while they clean up. Save it for after the game. It costs the team a penalty and you could be escorted out by the security.

I'm all for celebrating but just kind of dumb the way they do it.

It’s great for the fans that they associate themselves with rats but it’s kind of a pain when you play.” -Marty

And at least Detroit won sh!t with the octopus. They haven't done anything with the rat since being swept by the Avs in the 96 finals.

I gotta give 'em this much, it was a frigging genius move to sell rats at $5 a pop, have 20,000 of them hit the ice after the game, then pick 'em up and re-sell them again. Basically it comes out to $100,000 per win and all they have to do is recycle merchandise.

They made a huge mistake though, angering the fanbase before Game 6. Instead of us being nervous and annoyed with our own team, now we're angry and want blood.

And now this same clown is encouraging Panther fans to throw them in our arena lmfao.

Can't he fined by the league for encouraging fans to participate in something that may result to injuries to the players??

True! I'm actually surprised how hostile the atmosphere has been the past two games for Panthers fans and idiots in Rangers jerseys. Not dangerous or stupid hostile but definitely making the game experience unpleasant for them. I think it's a good thing, and hopefully carries on throughout next season. We're such pushovers anytime the Rags or Flyers infest our building.

I think most people are puzzled that the Devils havent gotten a PP from this yet. The NHL said that if fans did this at any point during the game (including after goals), there would be a delay of game penalty. On hfboards, a lot of Panthers fans are calling out Devils fans for bitching, but their coach and representative are the ones crying to the media!

Speaking of those cesspools masquerading as fan bases, I wouldn't be surprised if there are Rangers/Flyers levels of NJ State Police present tomorrow due to these threats of visiting fans causing trouble.
