Devils vs Blackhawks in March...

This will make my second time at the Rock, but first time being able to see a game. I've been to see the Devils Draft Day Party last year, but alas, I have trouble getting time to travel to NJ to see a game as I live in Central PA.

Many Questions...

1. What are the best seats, best seat/value, and ideas on where to eat prior to the game?

2. What is acceptible for sweaters (jerseys to wear)... Will people spill BEER on you? (edited for stupidity on spelling at late night).

3. Where can I meet the player post game or even Chico or Dano? Anything a given on their routines so you can see them, meet them, chat with them?

4. Anyone want to meet up. My wife is Hawks fan so we'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Thought I'd ask in advance to get tickets and have an idea. I suspect unknown poster, JWomp, and Devils26 will meet with me. KC Devil, I'll see you the following week in Chicago!!!

Thank you in advance.

best value: get the cheapest seats possible, and sneak down to the lower bowl. Seriously. They won't say anything, and there will be plenty of extra seats. Worst case, stay at your cheap seats for the first period, scout out where no one is sitting, and go to the lower bowl during the first intermission. Especially if you have food in your hands, they wont ask to see your ticket.

Most people wear jerseys to the game. No one will spill bear on you, and I doubt you'll get beer spilled on you either :P

I always buy the cheapest seats possible and sit there through the first period while scouting out empty seats in better locations.

Then, at the first intermission, I usually move to the front row of section 128 or 129...my favorite seats in the building (besides club seats of course!)

Unfortunately I can't go to that Blackhawks game. I'll be at school and my spring break isn't until the week after.

If you want reasonable seats but don't want to worry about moving down, I'd go with the $38 dollar tickets. The seats are inexpensive and right in the middle of the ice. High enough so that you can see the plays develop, but not so high where you feel out of the game.

If money is an issue, don't eat inside the stadium. Go to one of the many bars near the stadium, preferably on the path between the Rock and Penn Station. Those are the safest and have the best options. However, if money is not too much of an issue, I'd suggest the Tastes of Newark inside the stadium. The sandwiches are surprisingly good.

You don't have to worry about people spilling beer on you. Even the people who get really drunk oddly seem to be courteous enough to avoid others. Obviously there will be a few exceptions, but they are rare.

I'm not too sure where you can find the players after the game, but I'm pretty sure Dano and ? broadcast the post-game from the goal bar. I've never gone there after the game, so I don't know the exact rules. Perhaps someone who has can provide more info on that topic.

Chorske17, I'd love to meet up if I'm able to attend, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it. With all the crap going on in my life, things usually change at such a short notice, so I end buying tickets a few days before each game in most cases. I'll let you know as March approaches if I'll be able to make. I'm crossing my fingers. :)

1: IF you can find club seats for close to season ticket price sec 18-19-20 (should include parking and it includes your food and non

alcoholic bevs) you can meet Doc and Chico

otherwise grab something LL top row or lower parts of upper

2: Anything

3:Dano is at the Goal bar for pre game you should be able to steal him for a minute or two after the pre game,

but I'd try to grab him in between periods bc Doc if better convo(if you get club seats Fire lounge side)

Enjoy the game

Fire Lounge sec 20 row 5 where Doc and Chico broadcast

parking and isle seats(parking is about 25-30)

I'm not sure as the Lurker or sundstrom(I think he has club seats) if you can access both lounges or just the one you sit in.

Ice Lounge side

edited bc I'm still sleepy

You can access either lounge, and if you're sitting on the Fire lounge side, I highly recommend hitting the Ice Lounge briefly before the game, it's cooler (no pun intended).

I've done this a few times and I've realized I enjoy the game a lot more in the upper level. You are closer when you're on the bottom, but you might as well be the only one there because nobody makes any noise, at least the people up top are passionate.

I wasn't sure but on the Fire side you can catch Doc and have a nice conversation with him prior to the game,

and get a couple of words out of Chico in between bites.

I would never want to sneak down to the lower bowl. You can sneak down to the seats in front of me, they're empty half the time and they're great. Sec. 128 in the first row. I think a ticket agency owns most of the first row so they're often empty and I think the view is a lot better sitting low on the upper deck then in the lower level.

The view from that area is great but if it's a special occasion I like the lounges.

But only if I can get the tickets around 150.

Oh ya, if it was a one time deal I would definitely go with the lounge for the experience. Plus Chico and I seem to have to pee at the same time during intermission and I always find that amusing.

Actually, for a one time deal I would go with the Platinum seats. You can usually find them online for the same price as Club Seats, or very similar, and you get all the club seat stuff plus access to the private bar underneath the fire lounge club seats. The private bar isn't amazing or anything but it does stay pretty empty so it's nice to go get beer and free food from as compared to the packed lounge area.

Thanks to all.

I definitely want to meet Chico and Dano. I have two items that I want Chico and Daneyko to take a look at and get their opinions on. Both items came from them respectively and I think they would be suprised to see them and it would definitiely be a great conversation. I'd also love to meet Langenbrunner and show him a sweater (jersey) I have of his that he wore back in 1994-95. Not sure what my best bet is on any one of them, but I want to at least make one of those happen.

At this point moving down seems like the best option, but I could go for the fire lounge area depending on price. It all depends on IF I can get tickets to see the Devils play in Chicago. That I hear is going to be tough.

Any more thoughts are appreciated. Thanks again to all that have commented.

Sorry for mispelling BEER. I'll probably (99% chance) of eating outside the arena. I see the prices for Hershey Bears beer here locally and always am able to just say no for $6.00 beer.

Hershey is pretty nice. I used to routinely get the ice for men's pick-up games directly after the Bear's games a few year back. It was blast. Once we got to play after a preseason game involving the Flyers and Islanders. I just remember walking out of our locker room to bring my sticks in and running into Jeremy Roenick. He was there along with Janne Niinimaa, Garth Snow, Eric Cairns, Ron Hextall, Keith Primeau, and several others. I was not a fan of either team, but it was great to talk to Roenick and Niinimaa who has a big Harley Davidson tatoo streching from shoulder blade to shoulder blade.

My wife and I have gone to numerous Bears games and to date they have ONLY one once (the only win against Carey Price's AHL team in the finals). Great atmosphere even if you don't like the team. No one gives you a second look no matter what colours you are wearing. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

You're asking if beer will be spilled on Saint Patrick's Day at a hockey game? Really?

Excellent point.

I'll probably be there with my buddy from Chitown and his DEVIL wife.

I'll letcha know. But if we meet up, you're chances of escaping w/o getting beer on you will go down. :noclue:
