If it helps to make the game accessible to more people via lower ticket prices or television subscription packages, certainly, it's worth it.  But if it's just a bit to make the NHL more money without sharing it with the "low guys on the totem pole," then no, I'm not for it.

Remember, we're gonna have to buy the jerseys for these teams that have the advertisements on them.  Thus promoting the advertised company even more.

We have a say in this...

Frankly I'm surprised theyve held out this long.

I am 100% against corporate sponsorship on clothing- heck I actively avoid buying clothes that have any logos, even the small ones on the front breast... Im terrible to Xmas shop for because half the clothes I'll just want to return!

But at the same time i struggle blame someone when there is money to be made- if they think this will make more money for them, we'll god bless them. But as others have said it will be the last time I buy a jersey ever.

That being said, some of the bpl kits aren't so bad, i think a lot of it has to do with the product being advertised, coupled with the style of logo. I think the nhl will start out with smaller logos on the shoulder or bottom of the back...

Again that is not confirmed.  From what I am hearing only the gamers will have advertisements and they will be patches while the replicas and retail authentics will not have them.

These are not like soccer jerseys where they are screened-on.

If you really think they'd taint jerseys with corporate logos just to give us fans lower ticket prices, you're nuts. This is solely for the money and it'd be stupid for the NHL to throw some of that money away by sharing the wealth with us.

I've felt this coming since they banned the jersey tuck. Always felt the reason they did that was because they were considering putting advertisements on the backs/bottoms of the jerseys and didn't want them being hidden. Looks like I might not have been too far off.

hate the idea... if they wanna make more $$$ try to figure out ways to sell the NHL outside the USA/CAN, make offer to tv channels in other countries starting with a low price and going up with the tv ratings...

now just putting ads on jerseys is lazy, ugly idea and for 4 mil only a year.

Under Armor is actually staring to make some noise though (i think they signed Steph Curry to a HUGE contract) and didn't they actually try to get Lebron?  They're dishing out tons of money right now, I wouldn't be suprised if they do try to be the first to get their name on this idea.

the Devils better just not end up with some ridiculous logo on their chest... (charmin, phillip morris, vaigra, <insert embarassing sponsore here>)

Nah, they tried to get Kevin Durant as Under Armour is based in MD/DC area and thats where he's from, but Nike outbid them.

But yeah, they're definitely growing. They make a lot of NCAA jerseys now. Hell, I think they have the Notre Dame contract which is a big deal.

Terrible to hear. Still, it seems like a minor miracle they waited so long, considering every single thing during games seems sponsored (Foxwoods FInal Five? Come on...) and the CGI ads on the glass (cause covering every single inch of the boards with adverts isn't enough).

Well, that sounds like the best case scenario and I guess a sponsor logo below the number on the jersey's back wouldn't bother me that much... But then again, it would be barely noticeable, so I doubt they're gonna go that way. I hate to think of big ads on the front. :puke:

When it comes to this, I just hope the Devils go with Prudential, it just makes sense, as a huge company straight from Newark. The fans are also used to it with the arena naming rights, so I guess no one would mind. Or if it's not them, then at least try for it to make sense with the sponsor being connected to the area or the team somehow. Having McDonald's or some other big generic company would just make it even worse.

One sure way to lose the fan base and STHs have corporate logos on the uniforms of a weak team.

Yeah cause that will cause fans to walk away.

Fans of the premier league sure revolted when Barclay's sponsored their ENTIRE league. NASCAR fans sure stay away cause of corporate logos.
