Sad But True

I hate to say it but this hockey's future writer is right:

Rico Fata made the team as far as I am concerned. The reason he's not on the roster and is down on the farm picking up right where he left off? Oliwa is this years McKenna, Murray is Tim Taylor, Ward is Jeff Toms, Mark Messier is still Mark Messier and this team still signs spare nuts and bolts at 1 million bucks a pop. Are there still any questions as to why this team hasn't been a real threat since the first Clinton administration?

Derek, despite the last 2 games I really think you need to give the Rangers about 15-20 games before deciding it's really not working.

Although I really don't understand why Dale Purinton is allowed to stink up the rink but Kloucek is in Hartford.

Sue, what's written there has to do with how they have been run lately. How many Brent Fedyks are they gonna have? It just gets old fast. I'd rather have a young, hungry promising kid in Fata than Sandy "The Sniper." Just how many so-called 'enforcers' do they need?

Not one of them can win a fight consistently either.

I see other teams who give their young, talented kids chances to play instead of taking chances on reclamation projects.

I am giving them 10-15 games. Hopefully, things will be different when Bure and Lindros return.

It may be unrelated as Sue originally posted but any team needs time to readjust especially if there are new coaches/lines/players, etc.

Primarily, you should know better because none of us give a rat's ass about those overblown moneybags across the river; we hope with Bure and Jellybrains that they still suck as badly. (hey, now what did you expect?)

Derek21...here's a site you may want to post your crap at www.newyorkrangerscafe.com

Quiet, Jimmy. We do not want him over there either!!!! :D:D

Purple boy, if you think Fata made the team you are either A) Blind or B) just as dumb as Edge, the writer of the article. That guy thinks CHristian Dube is good.

1 million a pop would be cheap...try 9 million a pop for a third line center.

These a pretty pathetic numbers for a 9/mill player(even after 3 games0:

G-(0) A-(0) P-(0) +/-(-3) Pen (2) SOG(11)

One of thesee names does not belong in this grouping you tell me which one and why?

Gurein, Sakic, LeCalir, Forsberg & Holik.

Man - you'd think the Devils are paying him 9 million....

If he wasn't worth having - none of you would care........

There's a difference between "worth having" and a players worth.

You teams frivolous spending affects the entire payroll structure of the league. Do you not see that? And will hasten the work stoppage.

Sheeps, there's no need to worry. Matteau #32, CONGRATULATIONS on becoming the 2nd member here on Ignore :D

I won't bother with fans who are lower than trash.

Doogs, you are close to becoming Member #3.

I don't argue with clueless fans.

Doogs, Fata worked hard in the last few exhibition games. He potted a couple of goals and backchecked well. He didn't get off to a great start but he rebounded well at the end and deserved to make the team over a waste of space like Sandy "The Sniper."

The Rangers don't need 4 or 5 so-called "enforcers." Just how many of these players can consistently win fights?

Oliwa is a goon and he'll fight with anyone. Barnaby I like because he'll fight anyone and he can play the game. I would have kept those two and ditched the others.

Most teams do not have more than 2 enforcers in their lineup. They usually leave room for more skilled guys. And in case you weren't paying attention, the new rules hurt teams like the Rangers. Our team is trying to play a physical in your face game. With more tough guys in the lineup, that means the chance for more dumb penalties and that leads to more opportunites for the opponents to make them pay on the scoreboard. It hasn't happened yet but it will eventually.

As for C's question, that's nobody's business and it's not a Ranger fan. That individual earned it.

Hm, did not see the Ranger$ pre-season games on TV since none were televised here so I cannot comment on Fata.... but honestly, the guy has never struck me as that impressive in the past. He does seem to be one of those who does well in the AHL, but just exhibits speed and not too much else in the NHL.

Well, Holik isn't what I'd call a superb playmaker either - he's better at shooting than passing, imo. Gomez was more of the set-up guy on that line. Although, I don't understand why Trottier wouldn't at least try putting Lundmark on A$$holik's wing as Barnababy sure as hell ain't gonna score much :P .
