ThreeCups
Look at what the Islanders are doing. I'll admit, these are fvcking awesome: http://islanders.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=99767 Those are sweet. We have plenty of worthy players to do something similar with. yea those mini lockers do look like a pretty awesome give away So these are not quite a standard "giveaway", it comes with a special ticket you need to buy. $45 for the upper level ticket, and this is included. Pretty sweet deal in my opinion. I would be in for any and all games the Devils did something similar. Those are sweet. This isn't a knock at ownership but a knock at whoever is in charge of sponsorships and promotions. Look at basically every minor league team in hockey and baseball and they are always having some kind of giveaways because sponsors paid for them. I find it really hard to believe that it's that hard to find sponsors for giveaways for the Devils. So these Isles lockers do not have sponsor logos on them, and were produced out of pocket by the team to entice fans to buy tickets. With that being said, teams routinely get sponsors to pay for tons of giveaways. The Devils have to be one of the worst in sports in this regard. I am not sure if it is out of completely laziness/not giving a sh!t, or lack of the right personnel in marketing. It is probably a combination of both, but more of the "not caring" attitude than anything else.
DevsMan84
I know right now Devils are running a deal now that for $57.35 you get a ticket in either the first 3 rows of sections 101-107 or row 15 or higher in sections 12-15 (lower level), a $10 food voucher and a backpack. http://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-new-jersey-devils-1-9?p=1&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&sid=d84feca9-c112-4b26-b32f-a8454e7e66f7&division=central-jersey&user=6785ae0963a48dff2c848d20136c709397088f42077ffd4b80391697bc58c7cf&date=20141031&s=body&c=link&d=deal-page&utm_campaign=d84feca9-c112-4b26-b32f-a8454e7e66f7

DevsMan84
I thought the new ownership said Groupon and other discounting deals were evil? I don't think they ever said that, but I know they got rid of those "Group Deals" that was done through a Devils/Ticketmaster group sales link. There was at least 1 or 2 more Groupon/LivingSocial deals earlier this season as well as at least 1 through Restaurant.com. I did the Restaurant.com deal as for $27 you got a 100 level ticket and a $20-35 gift certificate for the restaurant.com website (I forgot the exact amount). What I think you won't see are those dirt-cheap aforementioned Devils Group sales deals where I used to get lower level tickets for $25 (or even free in a couple of cases for regular season games). i saw this on groupon as well.. which is not a good deal if anyone looks at the secondary ticket market.. but i guess the team has to try Yeah it is not but it is targeting the guy off the street audience who are still uneasy about using the secondary ticket market for fear of getting screwed over. The deal is alright as you get a decent seat but the $10 will not buy you an entree for the most part at the arena now and the "backpack" is a draw-string backpack that probably cost about $1-2. At least they are trying though.
ATLL765
I thought the new ownership said Groupon and other discounting deals were evil? I think they just want to avoid promos like the ones last year that allowed me to see 5 games while only paying for tickets to 2 of them.
