Here we go again. New goal song for 14-15

The first bolded sentence explains why this thing was destined to fail.  You can't have some corporate lil' zilches, who approached this like it was some kind of checklist as to what makes an "enthusiastic hardcore fan", trying to force something to happen.  An entity like what the Diablos are supposed to be has to come together on its own.  Just the fact that there are actual hall-monitor rules in place (and that reeks of the mentality of the complete dorks who actually came up with the idea of the Diablos...they have NO clue about any of this stuff) completely hammers home how much the point of something like what this is supposed to be was missed...there's supposed to be some degree of actual genuine spontaneity with these groups.  Not lame choreographing of dictated behavior.

The best part is that the first setence is not really true at all.  If they wanted to be honest, they would have wrote that they decided that they want an official fan group and decided to hijack the grass-roots Supporters Section that started the season before during the awful first half and semi-miracle 2nd half.

The way they wrote it seems that the Devils started the whole thing from the very beginning.  However, I do have to say when the Devils took it over very few if any of the original supporters stuck around as many could not commit to season tickets.  A lot of the Daiblos members seem like the people whom the Crazies rejected (I am not fond of the Crazies either), envied the Crazies and wanted to be part of something like that, or just wanted cheap season tickets.

Look, it's not as bad as it could be. At the end of the day, they still offered $100± ticket plans for that section to get it going and our biggest complaint was that it was cheesy and annoying by the end of the season.

I'd rather be complaining about this than about the whole fanbase being priced out like Habs, Rangers, or Leafs fans.

You know what's really corporate? What the Rangers did: rebuild the "blue seats" as part of the renovation (and make commercials about it). Big slap in the face if I were a season ticket holder. Doesn't change the fact that Rangers tickets are out of most of those peoples' price range... "We removed thousands of season ticket holders' seats to make more room for luxury boxes, and didn't give them a cheaper deal on the lower bowl tickets we forced them to have to buy... BUT WE REBUILT THE BLUE SEATS."

I think we're a bit too hard on our management..

I'm not anti-management, really, especially this ownership has something that VBK clearly didn't...CASH!  I'll always like them for that reason alone.  I just didn't like the concept of the Diablos and how it came together.

Bingo. I stopped being involved when they stopped listening. I wanted them to reserve a few rows to have people either buy a 5 game plan or to allow single game purchases. This would have been the only way to actually grow the section. It was always meant to be open to all fans because I never wanted it to become a clique group like the crazies. As soon as they closed it off to a select group that was it for me. It was fun the first year during that awful season but now it needs to be put out back to pasture. Edited by Satans Hockey

The bolded makes a lot of sense...could've gotten a lot more people involved.  Seemed like Devils were expecting all-or-nothing from the outset.

I don't mind the diablos, but as others have said and I have complained of many times, that stupid vuvuzela needs to go or get shoved down the throat of the idiot that blows it every 2.5 seconds at these games. It is probably the second most annoying sound in the world...

have to ask, what's the first? And I think I know what's coming next...

As someone who was a Diablo last season and had great ideas for the group to make itself better.....

SCREW the Diablos. It's a group that's used for the "leader" to get tickets for their friends. Parts of the group are held to certain rules and regulations while the other half are friends of the "leader" and given free will to do whatever they want.

I could go on all day with examples on why they suck, why it's corrupt, and why it will never succeed.

Just a tiny example. An e-mail went around after the season asking members what they liked and disliked about the Diablos and would they do it again next year. I responded by saying I would love to be in it again next season and I think the group has great potential but has a lot to learn. I explained how I've been in the Viking Army with the Red Bulls for three years and we can learn from them and I would bring Diablos to Red Bulls games to check it out and so on. My response was not acknowledged and I was removed from the group and all of the social media groups pertaining to the group with no warning or communication.

On the other hand, there's a couple that happens to be friends with the "leader" of the group that on MORE THAN ONE occasion brought friends to the game that were WEARING THE JERSEY OF THE OTHER TEAM in the Diablos section. They are still in the group and did not hear anything about it.

Screw them. I hope they cease to exist. I will be sitting elsewhere in the arena this coming season joining in with the rest of the fans wondering who the annoying losers are in 122.

Just curious is either the leader or the couple that is friends with the leader the husband and wife where the wife is the thin bleach blonde woman in her late 30's to 40's?

The couple that is friends that I was referring to are much younger. But the "leader" and his wife are older.. yeah... blonde hair. She doesn't actually sit with the group. She sits in the lower level. He rarely shows up to games.

and to think, that fan section started out organically on this site, and was a true fan section that added life to the games. Once Devils marketing got their hands on it, it turned for the worse real quickly.

That's terrible. Funny they banned you for mentioning the Viking Army when I originally got the idea because I've been a member of the Empire Supporters Club for years and I even borrowed some chants that the south ward were already doing

Ok yeah I have had interactions with the leader and his wife before.  They should up to every signing putting on a BBQ that very few people actually care about.  Every interaction I have had with them was not the greatest and they seemed pretty snobby about their status as "leaders" of the Diablos.  Too bad for them most of the fanbase either don't care or dislike their group.

I found that funny too.  If they put the same effort in listening to suggestions to make their group better as they do making dopey custom jerseys for themselves then they could turn into something down the line.

It's just a club for friends. There were a bunch of girls AND the leader of the group outside with blue shirts and signs welcoming back David Clarkson when the Leafs came this past season. I was so pissed at that. Clarkson never did crap with this team. He never won anything. He's far from a Devils LEGEND.... Nowadays, he's here to BEAT US and make sure we don't make the playoffs! This is supposed to be a group of the most hardcore Devils fans... and they are outside welcoming players from the other team.

I found it hilarious when I read that Clarkson was nervous when showing up but the fans that greeted him made him feel better haha.

That's that group and the Crazies in a nutshell.  Just cliques.

I can't stand listening to that annoying noise as well. Hopefully this person decides to give it a permanent rest this season for the sake of our sanity. The only thing worse then hearing it during Devils broadcasts would be having seats directly in front of this incessantly grievous offender.

Voted for Coldplay "Atlas" for the official goal song last season. Would have really enjoyed the fact that it isn't used everywhere and its remarkably uplifting.
