And the best part was as he was saying that, the replay shows Cooke giving him a little love tap and Lundqvist flails his arm and stick around like he got hit by a sniper bullet haha..

Yeah, theres no padding there or anything. :doh1:

100 mph slap shot > love tap

Please explain why we didn't claim Jussi Jokinen off waivers again?...

Nobody claimed him off waivers, it's not even that.  They could have easily made that goofy trade with a nothing seventh-round pick for Jokinen and had Carolina take half the cap hit the way Pittsburgh did.

Tomorrow will be a huge night for us: at best: we can jump back into 7th. At worst, we will slide down to 10th.

1). Philly @ WPG. A Philly win combined with a regulation loss for the Devils means NJ will slide down to 8th.

2). TB @ Isles. Can Bishop help us?

3). Rangers @ Canes. Struggling Canes can lend us a hand.

4). Caps @ Panthers. Florida can kill some of the Caps' playoff chances.

5). Leafs @ Devils. Nobody can help us now unless we finally wake up.

Best case scenario:

Devils get 2 points. Both NY teams lose in regulation. Winnipeg and Florida win in regulation.

Nightmare:

Devils lose in regulation. Washington wins. Both NY teams win while Philly beats the Jets after 60 minutes.

Ottawa is starting to free fall, hopefully we can make the Leafs have a losing streak.

Of course we're gonna need it to end quick after that cause the Leafs play the Rangers in a home-and-home after tomorrow's game with us.

#4 probably doesn't matter since the Caps are most likely going to walk away with the Southleast.  Hard to believe with how badly they were buried in the first quarter.

How can the Canes keep half the cap hit? Do they recieve any type of incentive from the Penguins besides not having to pay Jokinen anymore? The Canes are not a floor team.

You can retain up to half the cap hit/salary in a trade.  The Canes traded him for like a seventh round pick and kept $900k of the cap hit according to CapGeek.  So in essence they gave up Jokinen for a seventh-rounder and an extra $2.1 million of cap space next year (and prorated this year, but that's irrelevant).

It's kinda goofy, nobody wanted Jokinen at $3 million but the Pens were willing to take him at $2.1.  Of course he passed through waivers before Crosby got hurt so there's that.  Still, he'd have been nice to have considering he's Guy Carbonneau in the faceoff dot compared to our non-Zajac centers.  Not to mention his offensive/shootout skills.

The Canes aren't a floor team, they're practically a cap team.  They had 17 players signed at $58+ million for next year per CapGeek before dumping Jokinen.  That's why they were desperate to shed any money at all on next year's cap, especially after Semin signed his big extension.  Getting rid of $2.1 million of cap space on a forward they didn't need was worth it to them.

The worst case scenario came true...the devils slide to 10th.

Tomorrow, all the Devils can do is to jump back to 9th. Key match ups:

1). NJ @ Buf. We need one point to get back to 9th.

2). TB @ Was. Lightning wins can help a little.

3). Ott @ Fla. Panthers can help us a little if they win.

If the Devils lose in regulation, the Flyers can sink us to last place of the division by winning on Tuesday against the Isles. Yikes!!!

Nice to see Ovie bounce back and challenge for the Richard after every analyst and expert in this league had him dead and buried, bolting to KHL, bought out, traded and what have you.

This has started to make me think I undervalued Oates' contribution to the offense....

Not being able to put the puck in the net = not winning games night after night means this team is obviously... BAD theres no offensive production like at all if the game goes to a shoot out were pretty much guarenteed a loss and the defense sucks as well. I hate to say it but the team sucks especially with out kovy.. If you dont realize this then your clearly in denial

A team like the Devils who are hard to beat in regulation does not suck. If they are BAD then you would be seeing blowouts. They overachieved in the beginning and are now vastly underachieving. You are in denial If you cant see that the Devils deserved better in this stretch. They should be a 6th-8th team. They are one game back so its not over.

If they were at least average in the shootout this year everyone would be quiet. That's the difference between last year and this year.

I dont know how anyone can be mad at this team, of course they are having problems scoring, look at our forward group, but the boys are playing good and putting in great effort. The only thing you should be mad at are those two points lost in Florida.
