Derlique
This is a thread dedicated to the upcoming draft in NJ. I know it's a ways away, but I thought this could generate some chatter during a boring time. Any prospects you really want to see in NJ? Chuck the Duck
Nathan MacKinnon being handed a Devils jersey from Lou and Conte would be ice.
MadDog2020
Nathan MacKinnon being handed a Devils jersey from Lou and Conte would be ice. . Hey, maybe we'll win the special selection lottery after they cancel the season .
Jas0nMacIsaac
Give me Aleksander Barkov, I'll take a 6`3 210 version of Datsyuk any day of the week. If we are picking lower then I think Adam Erne would be a safe pick that fits our mold of big wingers. Devilsfan118
Whats the protocol for the draft, should the entire season be wiped out? Will EDM be getting ANOTHER #1 pick gifted to them?
Derlique
Whats the protocol for the draft, should the entire season be wiped out? Will EDM be getting ANOTHER #1 pick gifted to them? Probably a lottery system similar to the one in 05. Every team will have a shot at the #1 pick, but obviously teams like CBJ and the Isles will have more lottery balls http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_NHL_Entry_Draft
SterioDesign
good thing is that lets say were supposed to be picking 29th... we're likely gonna forfeit that pick BUT then we might pick 2nd in the second round cause in 2005 they switched rounds around so the team picking last in the first round picked in the 2nd... so technically our 29th should be voided and the kings will pick "30th and 1st" in term of picks but 29th and 30th in players rank... or wtv lol so we're only losing 2 "positions" from the guy we would have picked 29th... Never thought of that, but Im inclined to believe Lou would like to keep that pick since the draft is in NJ, its a really strong draft and prospects in 2013 are more valuable than prospects in 2014 because they will (probably) be ready sooner. Jas0nMacIsaac
If NJ picks 29th and 32nd he will make both picks and get two very good prospects. 2014 doesn't appear to be anything great at the moment so that will be the year to drop. Coorslight
Does anyone know how/when we will be able to buy tickets to attend this event. Also the date it'll be held. I need to request off work for this and will definitely be making a 2 day event, no matter how boring it'll actually be. You can't deny that it will be a once in a life time experience. njd3b1ink
The system is something like teams that get 3 balls in the lottery are the teams that have not gotten a first overall pick in the last four years and have not made the playoffs in the last three seasons. So columbus, winnipeg, carolina, dallas, calgary etc get 3 balls. Teams with 2 balls in lottery are teams that have not gotten a first overall the last 3 years and missed the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 season, or teams that missed the playoffs this year but made it the prior 2 years. So teams like NYI, MTL, FLA, Tampa, St louis, colorado, buffalo, get two balls. The rest get 1. I think there would be around 54 balls in the lottery. Devils would have one. EDIT: and yeah it snakes. So if you pick first overall you dont pick till 60th next Edited December 2, 2012 by njd3b1ink
Devils Dose
Doesn't there have to be a CBA in order for there to be a draft in the first place?

Jas0nMacIsaac
Would you take Barkov over Drouin or Mackinnon? I can't say yes right now without seeing him at the WJC. I probably would however, he along with Monahan are the only players who I see as centers at the next level.

SterioDesign
seems a bit unfair that edmonton and all those bottom teams would have top picks again. Im sure the GMs owner is pulling for a full season lockout, then its not really their fault that they finished in the bottom again since there was not season and yet heres another top pick to join eberle, hall, RNH, yakupov... disgusting

JWomp
I'd love to see the Devils take Anthony Brodeur in a later round. Would be pretty neat considering the draft is in NJ.
Jas0nMacIsaac
No point wasting a 7th rounder on him.
thefiestygoat
No point wasting a 7th rounder on him. Agreed, he isn't even the main goalie for SSM, getting beat out by a kid that is 7 months younger than him. Anthony just has a 3.25 GAA .900 SV% through 12 games which is a lot worse than Kania, their main starter, who has a 2.06 GAA .925 SV% through 15 games. Marshall
I want them to pick him anyways. What's the % of 7th rounders anyways?
Jas0nMacIsaac
I want them to pick him anyways. What's the % of 7th rounders anyways? Why buy a lotto ticket only to rip it up. Who cares what the % is, you may miss out on the next Joe Pavelski by doing so.
