No, it's still a good trade because we won the cup.

Morrison for Mogs = good trade, we won the cup

Souray for Malacough = great trade, we won the cup

Rolston for Lemieux = awesome trade, we won the cup

The object in hockey is to win the Stanley cup. When you make three signifgant deals during a season, and win the Stanley cup, you won all three deals.

you can't lump all those transactions together first of all

Souray and Rolsotn have done nothing compared to BreMo or AlMo.

Who's to say we don't win the cup with BreMo instead of AlMo? It's not like AlMo set the playoffs on fire or won any awards or anything.

the trade was a good one as long as AlMo was here, onve he left it became a bad trade.

Mogilny deal was a good one was right up until 2 summers ago when Lou refused to give Mogilny a new contract.

Lou offered him a contract. Mogilny decided to go for more money with the Leafs is all. Would Lou have offered more if he didn't disappear in the Finals? Perhaps.

Mogilny is gone. Move on people.

don't know where you got your info from but it is totalyl incorrect.

Lamorillo did not offer AlMo a contract, this is even after AlMo publicly stated he would take less to remain in NJ where he wasn't counted on as being the "main guy".

toronto gave him about a $500,000 raise, that is it. Lou didn't even offer the guy a contract, this is a fact

If he did an dhe still left, a la Holik, then I could live with that, but that is not what happened. AlMo left NJ al la, Malakhov, Housley, Gilmour, Andreychuk, etc. and any other big name rental that Lamorillo refused to even make an offer to after their then current contracts expired.

the guy cannot continue to trade away youth(Morrison, Souray, Sullivan, McCAuley, Hulse, and soon to be Commodore and Damphousse) for older players and then just let those older players walk after tehir contracts up.

sooner or later its going to come back and bite us in the butt and it's only just begun to this year

how would AlMo's 40+ points look on the Devils this year?

Ah yes, I see the purveyor of bad logic is back.. nice to have you in town, BFett.

The Devils didn't have the money to sign AlMo, so they didn't. They also didn't have the desire, seeing as he decided to go through a cold streak when they needed him most. You may use the Devils' increase in budget to refute this.. but Lou will never spend the maximum he can spend.. or else he's stuck when it comes to trade time.. Lou has never made a salary dump trade, and I don't think he will for a while.

Morrison had to go, so going for #89 was the perfect deal.. and it worked out.

I'd love to see you judge every deal made in the NHL by your standards. The Avs must've lost the Bourque deal, too.

naivity at its finest. the guy got a $500,000 raise. I guess teh $45 mil offered to Holik 2 years later appeared out of thin air.

They also didn't have the desire, seeing as he decided to go through a cold streak when they needed him most.

along with teh rest of the entire roster

BreMo did not have to go anywhere. at teh time I loved teh trade, but you cannot trade a player of BreMo's talent and then let what you got in return walk a season and a half later.

Trading Morrison for Almo was one of Lou's better moves. Without it there is no Cup in 2000.

Gomez made Morrison expandable by proving was the better player at the time, and he still is. Put Gomez between Naslund and Bertuzzi and he'd probably put up 100+ points a year.

Morrison is a good player, but he's also a baby and clearly benefits from his superstar linemates. I'm glad he's gone.

Pure speculation on your part. Personally, from some of the Nucks' games I've caught, Morrison plays bigger and stronger than Gomez.

I don't think Gomez is as good as Mo.

Sorry.

What I've learned from this post:

We won a Cup with AlMo.

AlMo is gone but Toronto still has their head up the arses.

Morrison is solid, but Mog's and the rest of the Devs have their names on the Cup.

Vancouver is a force to be reckoned with this year because of Morrison.

WE STILL HAVE MARTY!

Math formula for evaluating players

Players still with Devils - Points divided by number of cups won equals players value.

Former Devils - Points plus current salary multiplied by 5 equals players value.

Players who fight with Lou - Games sat out multiplied by 5000 equals player value.

Players Devils get in a trade - 30 minus the players age multiplied by 6.

So as we can see Morrison is one of the top players in the NHL and Gomez stinks so we can put that arguement to rest. Also, any player the Devils get over the age of 30 is horrible. All former Devils get better as soon as they leave NJ and any player who fights with Lou is in the right because they are so valuable and Lou doesn't realize it. I'm sure there are more formulas but those are the simplest.
