Dead
I picked up one up was wondering if anyone else got one? Good to know the $$$ goes to the families that lost loved ones.
NJDEVS1730
They went really high, and people really pushed the time limit. I was going for Fayne or Boulton, but after it went over $1000 I was done.
Random Poster
Great for the families, but since these were team signed again, i stayed away. RE: time limit (bidding). That's because some people (newbies mostly) bid like it's ebay. I bid on one PB for the hell of it because i own the photomatched gloves of the player and was hoping to get it in my price range. There's an individual who posts on TG's blog (we'll call him rickyM2 to protect his identity ) who won it in the end and he kept waiting until the clock hit like 2-3 seconds then bid me up. This isn't ebay clown brains! You can bid anytime within the 5 minute overtime. It was exceptionally frustrating to know you're a few seconds away only to see this dope reboot the auction back to 5 minutes. He did this on another one under 10 seconds, too. NHLAuctions attracts some really strange bidding/buying, anyway. I saw a Brodeur rookie card you can pick up on ebay all day long for $3 sell for $20+. Have a look when they throw Devils sticks up for auction! Edited November 10, 2011 by SJP20

JWomp
I picked up one up was wondering if anyone else got one? Good to know the $$$ goes to the families that lost loved ones. None for me! I kept an eye on a few but they went a bit out of my budget. Who did you get?
Chorske17
The Devils really made the decision for me NOT to bid by having them signed by the team. Those signatures really made it easy to NOT even pay attention. I had money to blow and would've for the right two players, but again the Devils lost out on my money and bids. Why do people associate those scribbles on the front to be worth SO MUCH more than they really are w. You know players just play 'spiralgraph' with the signatures so some you have no idea who the heck it is. In these tough economic times, I wish to thank the Devils for making my decision far easier than it should've been. Now I'm able to buy something really nice and not some crappy two game patch that honors the memory of two deceased players who basically got the same treatment as Pat Burns (a few games or rememberance) when a patch all-season would've been approved. Wow, would you like a hand putting all the toys back into your pram? It was for charity, it was for a good cause and people supported it, get a grip, i am pretty sure you have a big enough collection as it is. Thing is the auction realistically was going to be looked at and won by serious jersey collectors. Do you really think the casual fan had even a chance in this? The serious collectors were the main target buyers of it and the devils blew it again by having the team sign it and even in my somewhat limited jersey collecting experience know that it is a no no for game worns. He along with the other collectors have every reason to be at least annoyed at the decision to have the whole team autograph it.

Random Poster
Yeah true I think unknown poster mentioned that too. For these, yeah. It would be the lesser of two evils, but i'd win one if it was player signed only.

If it was just any other game worn , normal fans never have a chance, and the collectors take their pick which is fair enough its thier hobby. But since this is for charity you might bet a few different people/companies wanting to do something for a good cause. Also its more the sense of entitlment from Chorske17 post that is in pretty poor taste. not some crappy two game patch that honors the memory of two deceased players Come on. Coorslight
WTF? Get over yourselves here. Which Jerseys where you interested in that you didn't bid on because they were team signed? Also, realistically which ones were sold for less money then you were willing to spend. GTFO your high "collector" horse. These weren't just any game worns. No one buying these shouldn't have bid unless it was for charity. If anything be pissed off they STARTED at $500 which put alot of us out of the bidding in the first place. Oh I donated, but to another cause (Cancer) that I felt I got a lot back for since members of my immediate family have or had it. Like I said, in these tough economic times you have to pick and choose so I did, I encourage you do the same. I still stand by what I said. Why not honor these players longer (same for Pat Burns). Really two games? I see other clubs still sporting a patch and yet here are the Devils. The autographs are silly. Like Ken said, one is tolerable, but why not give fans/collectors what they want if the money is going to charity so they can raise more? Investigate, research, look-into it. It isn't like MeiGray doesn't do business with them; ask them. Say poor taste all you want, but it is the truth and sometimes the truth hurts. Oh and as for the starting bid, I HATE auctions. If you ever go to move 95% of what you won in auction it's typically a huge loss. I don't know if people get caught up in the moment or what, but I've seen some where I scratch my head.

When you spend into the thousands on a jersey (or anything in life) you had better be 100% fvcking happy and satisfied with the purchase wether it's for charity or not. Serious collectors choosing not to buy is not a reflection on the cause. It is a reflection on how much $ it would take to acquire one of these knowing it is not something that "fits" most collections. I don't know about you, but i do not spend thousands of dollars on something to be a philantropist. Also, FWIW, those of us who are serious collectors know where alot of these jerseys wound up. Believe me, I am impressed and happy over the results. Knowing where they went makes me happier i didn't win one. I'm not Jason Seidl and if you look at my Devils collection it is probably pretty small considering I sold off a lot of it and it was never that big. I don't need to have everything or most. I'm content with what I have. Entitlement? I am by far one of the last people who thinks he is entitled to anything. Please state where I said I am entitled to anything. Let's see those facts!
