The Official Devils GAME WORN Jersey Thread

Without knowing anything more, I don't think it can be determined if it was "shilled".

Not 100%, but you can't look at the bid history and not go "eh....?.". The bid pattern and the bid incriments from 53 bidder, especially if you've bidded on eBay for 10 years, can lead one to think a certain way. Why bid up $5 in some cases? $10? It looks like careful "bump" bidding. Then the 53 bidder is the high bidder towards the very end, finally, after carefully running bids up for days?

Doug had both the Richer and McKay for sale. I believe Jason Seidl, myself, and Ben Rufener were interested in one or the other. I went for the McKay originally, but opted for the Richer when the McKay disappeared. The sweater is nearing 20 years old and if my memory serves me correctly, it was well marked up with wear. So that is a positive. I wonder who got it and had I known the ending price, I would've entertained bidding on it because it is a nice sweater from a year that you don't see too often.

Seidl was bidding on this shirt. His high bid suggests what he thought and as much as it pains me, i agree with him. I think $575 would have been OK. Remember, Mike Wilson sold a white 92-93 McKay with compatible wear for $475. Now, that was a nice price.

The max bid of the winner could have been $10 higher or $650-700 or higher. I was up watching it and right until the end i had my finger on submit bid, but i just could not see myself paying $650-700 on this shirt, wear or not and my common sense (finally?!) won out.

If this shirt was won at $650-700 and i had to part with it, IMO, a profit would be difficult if at all and i do not think i could sell it easily unless it was to someone who wanted it that badly.

Understood, but really it could've been any number of reasons why the 2nd place guy didn't put a higher bid in.

I guess when it comes to parting with something, I just try to buy what I want the first time and worry less about resale less. I've moved very little in my collection (I think 4-5 shirts total in 3 years). Granted, I've had some items for sale, but I would not be "gutted" if they didn't sell. I put the minimal amounts on them and some thought they were still high. As for this hobby: some are in the for the investment, some for the fun of it, and some try to combine both. I find it difficult to buy based upon the future of the hobby in mind. Thinking, "Is this going to appreciate?", "Can I get back what I paid?", "Will I be able to turn a profit?" are never 100%. No matter whose name is on the back, it just doesn't seem to matter and anything can happen.

I won the jersey of the incredible, amazing Randy McKay. The #2 bidder did seem sketchy. I know unequivocally who the #3 and #4 bidders were. I think a 2000-2001 McKay went for $550 late last year/early this year.

I was at this game when he scored this goal!

I got this too. The 90-91 Albelin. It's pretty hammered.

I don't plan on bidding on anything new on eBay for quite awhile, but was happy to pick up a red and green jersey of a player from the 95 (&' 03) cup team.

Well at least I know who I will be losing out to on ebay auctions on a routine basis. Nice grabs.

No, I'm done for awhile. I'm under wife probation. The only deal I'll do is the one that may or may not be in the works, because that is a grail.

Geoff,

May questions:

1. Will we see you at the MeiGray expo to meet and chat?

2. What is "Wife Probation"? Don't drop the soap pal.

3. What is this fabled "grail"?

I bought mine and Andrew's expo tickets this morning. It looks like we'll see everyone there. :)

Very excited... Feel free to represent the Devils inside. Be prepared for a hot one in the MeiGray building after though. 100+ people in a metal topped storage facility. I can't wait to see your faces when you go into the "Sweater Vault room" for the first time. It is literally jaw-dropping...

Hahaha... by the way... Where's Jordan?! I need to work out a deal for the Clarkson stick his brother might sell me. HI JORDAN, PLEASE CONTACT ME. :) I'm too lazy to go to your profile and message you. If you have AIM my sn is attenti0nreader. Hit me up. Thanksss. :)

DOn't tell me it is Draft Day Part 2 in regards to people pushing and shoving down those tight aisles for jerseys....Do they display them differently.

Heavy on the weights this week brother!

Congrats on the two jerseys!

No, it is far from Draft day... EVERYONE is respectful in the past and I doubt this year will be any different. Just make sure if you want something you hang-on to it even if you are not 100% sure you'll be taking it. Meigray does a great job of trying to keep the climate cool, but the sweaters act like insulation.

Is the 08-09 Meigray population report out yet? If not when does it usually come out?

Don't expect to see that report anytime soon. It usually comes out around September, but it could be delayed later than that. With them involved with the expo/summer sale and other ventures it could take a while. The best bet for finding the most accurate answer is to call them. All I have said is speculation, but they know their timetable better than anyone else. So I advise you to call them ASAP to get an answer.

So that explains his season..........

I think my stick is covered with knob tape down over the "L" and "S" or I could look. Funny, I thought I saw this at the draft day and coughed it oup to dislexsia... Guess they really did mispell his name... A photo I checked has name spelled correctly on the 11th of January 2009. I'll keep checking other dates.

So this stupid thread again has gotten me into a jersey frenzy. However, I'm going to get other teams jerseys as well and try to get one from almost every team (I refuse to get any other Atlantic Division team jerseys). I have a Oduya and a GI Tallackson (it was cheap lol) for the Devils.

I'm aiming to get the original 6 (- the Rags, so 5) first. I'm thinking of getting one every 3-4 months or so, so I should have most that I want in about 3 years. I think my first will be a Leafs or Blackhawks, as while I dont love or even like the teams, the sweaters are just really classy. Also plan on getting a Team USA and a Team Canada. I hate the Leafs actually, but I do love that shade of blue they use.

So again, thanks you buncha jerks ;)

Since you want to get jerseys from multiple NHL teams, but you're first and foremost a Devils fan, maybe you could try getting jerseys of former or current Devils when they played for other teams, when possible.

For example, in your original 6 quest you could go for a Clemmensen Toronto Maple Leafs ( http://www.meigray.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...3&scId=4553 )

Also, now that Gionta and Gomez are Canadiens, you can get one of their Montreal jerseys for another original 6 team.

For other teams, you could get guys like Grant Marshall ( http://www.meigray.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...0&scId=4530 ) or Jamie Langenbrunner ( http://www.meigray.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...0&scId=4530 ) on the Dallas Stars, and Jeff Friesen on the Flames or Ducks ( http://www.meigray.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...amp;y=0&x=0 ), Holik on the Thrashers ( http://www.meigray.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...0&scId=4520 ), Rupp or Hrdina on the Coyotes ( http://www.meigray.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...7&scId=4547 ) Stevenson on the Flyers ( http://www.nhlgameworn.com/edealinv/servle...9&scId=4609 ), Niedermayer on the Ducks, Sykora on the Penguins, etc

I could go on forever but you get the idea.
