iamtheprodigy
cause i was rushing to post it cause in those case we always endup with 3-4 signings threads Uh, maybe at 1 PM on July 1st, not now. You could have taken an extra five seconds to include a source in the original post.

Or, you could look on Twitter, and then, without complaining or being rude about it, add said information yourself. Takes only slightly more work than attacking others.

SS-SS
I know Lou always try to sign the players at the cheapest possible prices, but the fact that he dug so much on that deal and signed Fayne at 1.3 per year does that mean that he is leaving as much cap as possible for possibly a couple of big names via FA or trades ? DevilMinder
Good deal. Fayne was an able fill in.

Or we're so broke we're saving every nickel and dime possible to skirt the floor Of course that doesn't explain the alleged offer to Zach but the team's finances have been a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma for a year and a half. devilsrule33
I remember when the Devils got Andy Greene for two years for $1.5 million total a few years back, and that was for a player that was in and out of the lineup. Now a few years later the Devils get Fayne for $500,000 more a year, and he's been arguably the team's best defenseman. Weird. Triumph
Terrible deal, only way it works out is if RFA age goes up.
NJDevs4978
Terrible deal, only way it works out is if RFA age goes up. Terrible deal for who, Fayne? $1.3 million is not terrible for the Devils by any stretch.
devilsrule33
Terrible deal for who, Fayne? $1.3 million is not terrible for the Devils by any stretch. I believe Tri is referring to that he'll be a UFA by the end of this deal. If he signed a 1-year deal, the Devils could buy some UFA years from him next summer. Triumph
Terrible deal for who, Fayne? $1.3 million is not terrible for the Devils by any stretch. Sure it is. As the rules are written now, you have one shot to gouge someone on a contract - right here. The Devils gouged too far - they get a discount for 2 years and then Fayne becomes fairly or overpriced. Granted with the principal owner figuring out how he can afford to remain a season ticket holder again once the NHL takes the team away from him, maybe immediate savings are best, but they had a shot to get him locked up long-term at a great price. losdiablos103
Happy to have him back (although I have him missing an open net in game 1 of the SCF playing over and over in my head). He deserves to get paid more, to be honest, so yes, this is a steal. But nonetheless happy to have him back.

I wasn't counting on them signing Fayne to a super-long term deal now, it doesn't behoove him to do so the way it would a Shea Weber since he's not getting a real payday regardless. Maybe the FA age changes anyway in the new CBA. Zajac's the more immediate concern on that front. Edited July 21, 2012 by NJDevs4978
