SterioDesign
sorry im on my cell so it cant gives a link but should be easy to find... With their 2 last trades getting prospects and picks seems like they gave up on this season... Since were under them.. Maybe we should do the same
NJDevs4978
Aren't they way under the salary floor by now? Love how the NHL lets THIS go without a peep but cut our hands off for a by the letter of the law contract.

coldply123
Wasn't Wishart a part of the Boyle trade? If so, that's not a terrible return for a goalie who is over 40 and a rental. Intrigues me what we might be able to get for Langs/Arnott.
SterioDesign
They get under the cap floor with that trade but they have bonuses counting on the cap that makes it work i think
mmajeski06
What happens when DiPietro gets injured again?
robdeselich88
mmm i think they need rolston.
stevestevens
What happens when DiPietro gets injured again? You don't put him on the injured reserve, keep his money against the cap hit and it will work out well for them. The Islanders should be fine with staying to the cap, Yashin's penalty is 4.755 in addition to bonuses and they make it.
Devils Pride 26
Anyone else read Rolston and look for "Devils trade Rolston to Isles" thread?
Devil Fan
Looks like rolston is heading to the Island in order to hit the cap floor...
Marshall
Looks like rolston is heading to the Island in order to hit the cap floor... They're at 45.6 million, floor is at 43.4.
Revan
They're at 45.6 million, floor is at 43.4. This. Or, according to Hockeybuzz, they're at 47.53. Either way, they're good. Who would've thought Yashin's buyout would help them financially. Dead weight under your salary cap is a pain in the ass for richer teams. BTW, isn't it ironic how the current salary floor is higher than the original salary cap (39 milion cap in 2005/2006... seems ridiculous just 6 years from then). NJDevs4978
They're at 45.6 million, floor is at 43.4. Their base salary is $40.6...$5 million of that $45.6 is bonuses, which they may or may not hit, in most cases probably not. Okposo's got $850k in bonuses and I don't think he's hitting them

vadvlfan
I think they could've gotten more for Roloson. I've recently saw Wishart play here in Norfolk (against our beloved Albany Devils) and he's decent, but barely a top 4 guy in the A. Nothing special at all imo. Biggie B
DiPietro just got hurt lol You beat me to it. Haha Edit: Why don't the Islanders just try to cut their losses with this guy? Way too injury prone to be counted on as a number one goalie. Is there any way the Islanders can dump his outrageous contract? Well, they could buy him out but they'd be having a cap hit of 1.5 million until 2031.
njd3b1ink
NHL live just said they need to take on a bit of cap by the end of the season to be above the floor. Its possible Rolston could go there. I am probably just being hopeful though.
mmajeski06
It is things like this that make me realize that there are fans out there who have it worse than Devils fans. What are the odds, the Islanders beat some respectable teams, trade Roloson, and then DiPietro goes down. My original comment of "what happens when DiPietro gets hurt?", I guess turned out to be true. Just didn't expect it to be within a day.
