Islanders trade Roloson to Tampa

Wasn't Wishart a part of the Boyle trade?

If so, that's not a terrible return for a goalie who is over 40 and a rental.

Intrigues me what we might be able to get for Langs/Arnott.

What happens when DiPietro gets injured again?

You don't put him on the injured reserve, keep his money against the cap hit and it will work out well for them.

The Islanders should be fine with staying to the cap, Yashin's penalty is 4.755 in addition to bonuses and they make it.

They're at 45.6 million, floor is at 43.4.

This.

Or, according to Hockeybuzz, they're at 47.53. Either way, they're good. Who would've thought Yashin's buyout would help them financially. Dead weight under your salary cap is a pain in the ass for richer teams.

BTW, isn't it ironic how the current salary floor is higher than the original salary cap (39 milion cap in 2005/2006... seems ridiculous just 6 years from then).

I think they could've gotten more for Roloson. I've recently saw Wishart play here in Norfolk (against our beloved Albany Devils) and he's decent, but barely a top 4 guy in the A. Nothing special at all imo.

DiPietro just got hurt lol

You beat me to it. Haha

Edit: Why don't the Islanders just try to cut their losses with this guy? Way too injury prone to be counted on as a number one goalie. Is there any way the Islanders can dump his outrageous contract?

Uhm, no.

Well, they could buy him out but they'd be having a cap hit of 1.5 million until 2031.:blink:

It is things like this that make me realize that there are fans out there who have it worse than Devils fans. What are the odds, the Islanders beat some respectable teams, trade Roloson, and then DiPietro goes down.

My original comment of "what happens when DiPietro gets hurt?", I guess turned out to be true. Just didn't expect it to be within a day.
