DevsMan84
Esiason should stick to what he's good at: Losing Superbowls. Also I think his reputation as a "hockey guy" is overblown. Yeah he watches it and talks about it on the show, but since he is pretty much the only guy on that station that acknowledges the sport actually exists on a daily basis he gets that reputation as the "hockey guy." This is the same guy who earlier in the year after a devils/rangers game where the rags lost was ranting how they could lose to the devils who are "so far behind them in the standings." This is when the devils were only 1 or 3 points behind. I'll believe it when I see it but I wouldn't put him down as a credible source. Triumph
This trade doesn't really make any sense, nor do iterations of it. The Rangers would have to put something else significant into the deal (an excellent young player, like Krieder maybe), and why would they do that? And Tampa has loads of good young forwards so I don't think they have much of an interest there. Doesn't add up at all.
Muevelos
Larry Brooks just confirmed that there has been talk between Tampa and NY Reigning Art Ross Trophy winner and Canadian gold medal winner Martin St. Louis’ name has been in and out of play with the Rangers since Jan. 7, when he was bypassed by Team Canada (and Tampa Bay) general manager Steve Yzerman for his country’s Olympic roster, but no trade is pending that would bring the 38-year-old winger to New York, sources have told The Post. Blueshirts’ general manager Glen Sather has inquired about a potential swap of team captains in which pending free agent Ryan Callahan would go to the Lightning in exchange for St. Louis, but Yzerman’s absolute lack of interest in dealing his leading scorer in exchange for a rental property has been made clear to the Rangers. NJDevs4978
Why is it so inconceivable that Boomer - a guy who has a TON of local connections - could have a source on a Ranger trade ahead of the national guys that don't have those kind of relationships with the local team? Or that someone wouldn't leak it to him first precisely because he's a high-profile fan. It's not like he's Spike Lee where he's just a famous fan, he's actually in the media. If anything Brooks confirmed there've at least been discussions to that end, although my regard for St. Louis would be lessened a bit if he did indeed want out just because he got bypassed by his GM for Team Canada. Mike Brown
Not to NY though, as you see, Steve doesn't want RC Yes but he could always be re-signed. And plus, it wouldn't be a 1 for 1 swap obviously.
MadDog2020
Boomer is pretty well-connected, I could see him getting the heads up on a Ranger trade from someone for sure. There's definitely smoke, with Brooks now chiming in on the matter.

Muevelos
NK and TheFourthPeriod came in. St Louis, is not going to NYR. He wanted a trade before the snub, not no more. And Steve won't trade him. And Mike doesn't matter, RC won't budge on seven years seven million, Steve won't take that. Muevelos
Not set in stone@RealKyper 20s It's believed St.Louis did ask #Lightning 4 trade when left off Canada. I'm told some #NHL clubs not sure if he still feels the same way now Nowhere does it say MSL said he no longer wants to be traded.

Triumph
Both Kypreos and the 4th period are not reputable sources. St. Louis is an elite player signed to an awesome contract, the only smoke is that Brooks is reporting that they did talk, but talk is cheap. Muevelos
He has no reason to be, to really say anymore that he still wants to is nothing but a guess. Boomer's taking a couple hits, he's not even sure anymore or the players involved now. Stirring the pot, looking bush league as an insider doing all this. Watch Nada happen. St Louis stays, no reason to leave, RC to the west. That's not the same thing as saying he no longer wants to be traded. Both Kypreos and the 4th period are not reputable sources. NJDevs4978
Kypreos had Clarkson being disgruntled and wanting a trade in 2012, among other things he's screwed the pooch on.

SterioDesign
Could very well be that negociations (as reported) were not going anywhere so rangers are looking at a swap that could get them a guy right away for the playoff and avoid losing callahan for nothing in the summer since they couldnt agree on a contract. Also it doesnt mean that if nothing happen that the reporter is full of sh!t, looooooots of legit deals are simply not going throught or a side is pulling the plug last minute.
