GDT: 12/9/14 MC Hammer v. MechaGodzilla

Anyone not happy with one point in this game is probably never happy.

I also laugh when people think we have better people to take the shootout than the ones who go in, no matter what. We have no offense, our two goals tonight were Gionta and friggin' Tootoo.

We have better options than Jagr.  Gomez is at 30%.  Ruutu is a 39.1%.  And one of Yayo or Boucher should have been given the 3rd chance.  Jagr and Havlat have no business in the shootout.

You're happy? You can honestly tell me that right now you think of the team and smile? We lost. I don't care that tomorrow I'll wake up and realize it was good to get a point. I don't care we were injured and playing our backup goalie. We were WINNING WITH 3 MINUTES TO GO AND WE FVCKING LOST.

Fvck your happiness. I'm not. I'm pissed. I love this team and I feel very UNHAPPY when we lose.

but to be fair, you say this every day during every game and only quote yourself when you're right

That is your problem.  How can you honestly enjoy watching the Devils if you're that emotionally invested?  I enjoyed the game tonight.  And we didn't actually lose.

very proud of the play of JJ, Kinky, Merrill, Greener, Zids, Gomer.Severson a great effort overall. I thought DB had his team prepared tonight. Although we lost, we damn near beat these guys tonight. Welcome to Albany Mr. Clemmenson, your new home!

Well lets be fair here... Do you think its unfair to assume that theres a pretty big chance we blow a lead and lose in SO?

Plus i said "i" simply not to put words in people mouth but it was in eeeeveryone's mind that we could blow that lead. Anyone would admit that much lol

Yeah, are the unhappy people huffing a combination of paint, gasoline and windex? Devils played last night, are missing half their squad and were up against the best team in the league.  Without godly efforts from Kinkaid and Greene, this isnt a contest.  Be happy that Cory doesn't have to play 77 games this year

I said I was happy with one point in tonight's game. I didn't say i "look at this team and smile". Yes we were winning with 3 minutes left, despite having no offense, our backup goalie, and our defense giving up way too many shots again, against the team with the best Goals Against in the league and probably one of if not the best offenses. If you don't realize that in that situation it's good to walk away with a point, then you need your head examined.

So fvck my happiness and fvck your inability to read and lack of common sense.

this is one of those games that show you why pdb is still the coach. the team played as hard as they could when they were as undermanned as possible. they could have easily folded tonight - chicago brought their game. it's not like they just threw their sticks out there.

kinkaid looked terrific. with this game, he has absolutely earned the chance to get one of the next 4 games. assuming he plays as well, he should get 25% of the rest of the games this year.

gomez still has tremendous vision. i wish he would shoot every once in a while to keep other teams honest.

boucher looked like a worse version of ryder - didn't skate well and was not great positionally. ryder was ryder as usual.

man i wish josefson had any sort of offensive ability because the rest of his game is there.

severson and greene were good tonight despite getting beat up by chicago. i thought merrill was good too.

can't really be upset with the loss except that it keeps the status quo as far as where they are. either get the two points and see if they go on a run and grab the 3rd spot in the sh!tty metro or get none and continue along #o1o

He did look great against a great team, but can you really form an opinion as to how effective he will be just by examining his performance in two games (thus one and the one I he next 4 you said he should get). It's too small a sample size to make that kind of determination.

funny cause i see a team competing with thinned ranks and my initial thought was this is not on the players...then its still an issue on how debo handles the vets...its up for debate; im sure there is an answer but agreed on kink.

edit let me say i am not blaming debo and the issue of vets is a second thought...my point is that when i see depleted ranks and players competing my gut thought was this is not an issue of effort...sigh

My only complaint is why it took this long for poor Kinkaid to get in a game in the first place :P

Count me in for the happy group. Devils got a backup goalie. Gladly take the point here.

Solid effort. Positive signs.

I'm not happy or unhappy.  Satisfied with the effort yet peeved the storybook finish got ruined by same old same old.

As I said in the chat, Kinkaid has finished his initiation. He's a Devil now.

Yeah, but he deserved to walk off that ice a winner with the first star cheers and the Deb interview at center ice.  Of all people Sislo makes the mistake on the tying goal, after I was glad he got subbed in for Ryder on the three-line rotation.

his season in albany as well as how he finished last year have laid the ground work. you can win games by luck, sure. but his play tonight was not the result of chicago shooting in his chest or kinkaid lucking into saves. his positioning was solid - he made the right reads. he was completely composed. he's earned another start relatively soon and the devils cannot drive cory into the ground.

not that i expect anything this year and want cory fresh for the playoffs or some such nonsense. but this can't be a completely lost year. the devils need to find out about people. they did it last year with merrill (and cory to a lesser extent). so far this year, we're seeing severson. hopefully, once he's done with bird flu, larsson can get back on track and put in a 65 game season.

couldn't find a Hawk fan on earth 7 years ago

We snuck a point out of this game

I'm actually pretty ok with that, but we could only dodge so many arrows after last night

There were a **** ton of Hawk fans tonight, on a TUESDAY no less...yikes.  It's not like they'd been filling our arena in other games the last several years, that was just bizarre.

I'm not happy - obviously in the situation that you are up 1 goal with 4 minutes left, you want them to win the game and most of the time they will.  But I'm not upset either because they fought hard and looked decent against a really excellent team despite not having a lot of their best players.

Kinkaid was obviously great, so the less said about him, the better.  Looked calm in net.  Definitely deserves another start and deserves a shot to get into 10-15 games as the season moves along.

Boucher was a non-factor but in fairness to him that was his 4th game in 5 days.  I don't think he should play on the same line as Michael Ryder - they have the same skill set.  Put Havlat with Henrique and Ryder and put Boucher with the top line.

Of course that top line did produce some magical passing plays - Gomez and Jagr are really something to watch and Havlat could pull off some nice stuff himself too.

Lots of Midwestern Christmas sightseers in the city. Kind of thought this might happen when I saw like 10 pieces of Blackhawks paraphernalia on various people on NJ transit trains to the city the past 2 days
