Looking at Tallinder's Devils Career

If Ovechkin missed his shots, he gets a Corsi hit.

I'm also not sure he ended up being benched.  Larsson only played 13 minutes too.  Tallinder will probably be rotated out of the lineup, but he would still be in the lineup of 29 other teams.

Larsson doesn't play specials unless everyone is in the box.    He pretty much put in a normal night's work.    Kovalchuk got all of his time on D because of the 900 penalties.   He was out on shifts in the last 3 minutes.

since the Sabres are struggling and that Myers has been struggling pretty much since Tallinder left do you guys think they'd take him back?

OR the other way around try to get Myers here in hope that he can go back to his good days lol

I'd love to see the Devils pursue trading Tallinder to Buffalo or Ottawa. Obviously, for the reason you stated for Buffalo and for Ottawa with Karlsson out and with the lack of veteran d-men signed for next year, maybe they would have some interest.

Only one worse than Myers is Salvador.  Myers has started the year horrendously.  Tallinder at 3.3 for 2 years is much much better.

you're such a hypocrite. Defending Larsson about him being young when things are bad and that dmen takes longer to develop and everything and then for Myers that doesnt work of course. You have to think long term with what i said and tallinder is clearly not part of our future, i'd rather go with a younster

Myers is 3 years older and costs $4.5 million dollars more on the cap than Larsson, I don't think they're very comparable at all.  Myers has played 3 times as much as Larsson and has played in North America his whole life, I would say Myers should be much further along the learning curve than Larsson.

Long term, I don't know if I want to take the risk on Myers with him making $5.5 million in cap hit for the next 6 years.  I imagine Buffalo fans are pretty worried about that too.

What i meant is that Myers will not be that sh!tty all his career and actually it was not about comparing 2 players but how can you go and defend a young dman with facts that not a lot of young dman are in the league and that some takes longer to develop and bla bla bla and then go and bash another young dman who could be in that young rough patch of his career? like seriously?

id give a shot to myers at 5.5m on the cap over volchenkov and salvador 8m combined any day. NJ has a history of bringing the best out of some players and im sure they could put myers back on track. 5.5m for what Myers "could be" is a good gamble. especially when we have like 13m in cap space that i dont even know what we could do with anyway

Because one is signed for one more year at 900K, and the other is signed for 6 more years at 5.5M per.

The Sabres will not likely be trading him for a while - they just paid him a $10M bonus.  But no, I don't like this idea of dealing for a player on a long-term contract who didn't sign it here, who is playing terribly now.  It's a different league now - trading for young players with talent is a great move.  Loktionov - let's do it.  Tyler Myers, who makes tons of money, is having a young player's struggles on a veteran's contract.  And he wasn't that great last year either.

the whole Sabres team was bad last year and this year, not a coincidence the coach got fired, no devils were good under Maclean either, the whole team was bad.

i doubt they would trade him but come on, Myers showed that he'll likely be a very good dman in the future. Considering the price of good young player in the future now that front loaded contract won't happen too much, 5.5m "could" be a steal if he's becoming what he should. and you can have him locked up for 5-6 years

i wouldnt trade him for Larsson but if i had the choice between him or our slow veterans i'd pick him. a Volchenkov Salvador pairing is scaring the sh!t out of me.

Myers huge size is a concern. Because of it he's more than likely to become a slow, lumbering defenseman sooner rather than later..

As for Tallinder, he'd be my third choice a D buyout on this team. I don't know if this speaks to his quality or the utter sh!t and garbage we have at D right now.

I still don't know why we ever signed Volchenkov. He's a shot blocking specialist and our goalie is non-plussed about shot blocking. If we wanted a hard hitting D man we could have gotten Garnet Exelby on the cheap. I've been criticized about mentioning him before but he's a hard hitting defenseman that's got a bit of a psychopathic edge to himself that Volch doesn't have.

First off, I've been saying we should ship Tallinder back to Buffalo to save Myers' career since the logjam was beyond obvious over the summer.

Secondly, ever since his Calder season, Myers has looked god awful. First his mentor left, then he got his payday. Ever since, as b1ink just said, Myers hasn't even sniffed the level of play his contract warrants. He's a MASSIVE defensive liability [ironic] and his offensive awareness is completely off too. He gets burned and turned around easily by the simplest moves, is struggling mightily to control the puck, especially when under duress.

Yes, the Sabres have played some god awful hockey. But even when they've had sparks of consistency, Myers still looks like a boy amongst men.

Now, would the Sabres even consider doing Tallinder for something remains to be seen, wouldn't hurt for Lou to actually kick the tires on it. Especially if somehow Tallinder has a trade value at all.

Myers is getting burned, turned around, and can't control the puck? Yep, sounds like he learned from Tallinder alright.
