SO predictable.

Good job waking Aybar.

most guys couldn't walk aybar if they tried. guy walks like francoeur

and let's not forget, 6-3 with the bases loaded and Murphy K'd and Wright flied out. Should've added at least 1

The Mets will give Valverde some more rope to hang himself with as the season progresses, but ultimately somebody else will be the closer. Definitely by June

and Granderson again with the whiff

Lagares has a chance in extras with the bases loaded but on a 2-2 pitch whiffs on an awful pitch in the dirt. He still needs much better strikezone recognition as Shoemaker started the AB off with 2 way out of the zone and Lagares went fishing

ok, walkoff is coming so I'm out. TV off. This team is cursed beyond belief

Terrible AB by Lagares. Ike and Duda walk so he's swinging away with the bases loaded at the first two pitches out of the strikezone.

with how jumpy he is, i'm not sure why he wasn't given the take sign on pitch one from the dugout.

Didn't see this one, but I'm glad they won.  Sounds like Valverde was pretty lousy.  And of course, not much in the way of clutch hitting.  Mets' team batting avg up to .207 and their OB% is up to .283 (still awful so far), and they have yet to reach 10 hits in a 9-inning game...a little lucky to be 5-6 so far.  But they could actually win their third series in a row with a win tonight.  And be .500 to boot.

Incredible that the Mets didn't bring up a safety net arm or two after the last 2 games.

It's not even about lack of good options either - just needed warm bodies who can come up and chew up innings in a game like this. The bullpen is taxed.

good that Terry went out to yell at this peach fuzz clown umpire. Not that it has anything to do with the Mets losing, but his balls and strikes have been comical. TDA called out on a pitch at his shoetops. Just a moron rookie ump

Trainwreck baseball yesterday, but those "glad they only count once" losses happen to everyone...especially when the starting pitcher has absolutely nothing.  David Wright slugging a whopping .313 to date doesn't help either (not that he's the only one to blame...LOTS of company there, though it would be nice to see the "leader" and cornerstone player not sink along with his teammates.  Just feels like he's always going to be part of the losing culture around here sometimes.).  Actually, it's scary how badly the Mets are getting outslugged...they're slugging .328 as a team (second to last), and teams are slugging .467 against them.  The team leading the majors in slugging (Colorado) is slugging .468.

Mets are fortunate to be 5-7, but they still actually have a shot at coming home with a winning trip, and with no help at all from their schedule.  Could be a lot worse than it is.

Granderson and Lagares left the game with injuries, Lagares grabbed his hamstring. Ugh.

And Chris Young isn't eligible to return until Friday which may lead to some seriously awful defensive alignments like the Duda-EY-Brown trio right now.

Doofus is somehow 9-for-22 in his last 7 GP.  Always funny what can happen in the early going, with batting averages...one 4-for-5 day raised his average 80 points, from .226 to .306.

Yeah, figures with the injuries...truly a shame with Lagares.  Really hoping the Granderson signing doesn't turn into the disaster that it looks like it's destined to be.

EY has actually been decent at the plate in his last 9 GP:  .294 BA, 1 2B, 1 3B, 5 BB...still striking out like crazy of course (12 K in that time), but at least he hasn't been a complete zilch lately.  For EY, this is the nice bonus of Sandy not trying to bring in a legitimate leadoff hitter...EY will get endless chances to be the leadoff guy no matter what he does (if he was still struggling, he'd still be getting trotted out there).  He'll finish the season in the .250s somewhere with a .310ish OB%, which as we all know is beyond God-awful for a leadoff hitter, but where else are they going?  At any rate, as we saw last season, Sandy and Co think any hot streak EY gets on is somehow the real EY, so we're going to see a lot more of him this year, regardless of the at-the-plate numbers.

nmig and others have pointed out what a bitch the Mets' April schedule was, and it's a tough one for sure.  They have nine more games (2 more against Arizona, 3 against the Braves, 4 against the Cards) before it eases up a little (though as we've seen, for teams like the Mets and Devils, trying to hope for good things based on schedules "getting easier" is an extremely dicey proposition).  But if the Mets go 5-4 in these next nine to start the season 11-11, can anyone here not be thrilled with that?

Lagares to the DL

That sucks.

Kirk up

That sucks even more.

Just what the Mets need...another guy who doesn't hit and doesn't walk, but strikes out a ton.  Passive's favorite kind of hitter.
