PollakOnSharks 1:40pm via Web One reason draft never in San Jose: Been advised that NHL requires host team to pick up a big chunk of the cost involved. This doesn't mean anything really, but the NHL allowed us to host next years draft because they know were financially able to pay for it while San Jose wasn't. Maybe I'm reading into it too much. ZeroGravityFat Posted June 25, 2012 Share Posted June 25, 2012 no, TG also pointed that the league giving the draft to us shows confidence in the ownership situation and they wouldn't risk going to a place where there may be financial issues. i'm guessing the owners are sorted and the legal work is taking time with all the cup finals and draft tying up financial work in the offices. I read somewhere that San Jose lost 20 million this year.
