JesterDevil
Morozov, & Eastwood, MAYBE Tarnstrom. Morozov would allow us to move Langs back to the Madden line and get that line in gear for the playoffs, Eastwood would gives us a good face-off guy on the 4th line, which we need. We could get these guys for CHEAP and their salary isn't that much, I think Morozov is $1.5 and Eastwood can't be more then $800k. Elias-Gomer-Gionta Friesen-Brylin-Morozov Pando-Madden-Langs Rass-Eastwood-Berglund/Rupp/Stevenson (whoever doesn't go in a trade) Tarnstrom is a maybe, they'll probably ask more then we should give for him and I think there's probably better D out there for what we'd have to give up for him. NJayDevil
Malone would be AWESOME. He is probably the only guy on their no-trade list though. He's a center too, imagine him between Friesen and Langy? That would be colossal.

Ace523
Yeah Malone prob is untouchable. What about Milan Kraft? Anyone know about his availability? Big, Right handed Center man. Plus always intrigued to hook Elias up with another cech.
JesterDevil
On Pittsburgh. I don't think there's a +1 at all on that team. But that's why I said MAYBE. IF Raf ends up being out for long I'd take him just for the PP time.
coldply123
This may sound stupid, but I would take Tarnstrom over Gonchar........... Gonchar is essentially a powerplay specialist, a great one at that, but Tarnstrom can give you similar powerplay skills and Gonchar is every bit as defensively liable as Tarnstrom is....... devilsadvoc8
Eastwood is 600k and Tarnstrom 1.1mil
coldply123
Eastwood is fine with me, hes a faceoff specialist, which we need, and he can kill penalties, and thus possibly giving Johnny Madden a rest.
smelly
I proposed exactly this trade yesterday (which means it almost certainly won't happen ).
sundstrom
for the most part, these guys are cheap, so pittsburgh doesn't need to deal them.
coldply123
Morozov is making some coin, as far as I believe.....
sundstrom
yes, morozov is...but he's been slumping terribly and really isn't what the devils need. he's not a center and he's not particularly physical. the key is finding someone to fit in between freisen and langenbrunner. getting morozov moves him up with gomez and elias and moves gionta down with madden/pando...which isn't terrible. but it still leaves brylin overmatched and out of position as a 2nd line center. right now, i'd be looking at a good 2-way second line center (zholtok or o'neill who can play that spot). while i think that the EGG line is too small to really match up in the Eastern playoffs, i think it's what we're going to have to go to battle with. so if it is, we're left with EGG langenbrunner-X-Friesen pando-madden-brylin Marshall-Rassmussen-Stevenson/Rupp so work on getting X and get a solid defensman and that's going to be the team we go to war with
Swede
Eastwood is 600k and Tarnstrom 1.1mil And that's the reason those 2 won't be traded
Triumph
Morozov would be a healthy scratch on the Devils, unless we moved Langenbrunner up to play with the top line and moved Gionta down to the third line. Remember folks, it's all about chemistry. This team is greater than the sum of their parts, when it's all in good order. Lou loves that orchestra analogy, and we really don't need the timpani that is Morozov. I don't see Pittsburgh dealing Tarnstrom. Eastwood is finished. Has been for years. He's a good faceoff man, but I really don't think he belongs on an NHL team at this point.

For that reason alone I'd play him in front of Larionov or Rupp.

Triumph
Eastwood is only winning 52% of faceoffs this year. I don't see the value of a "faceoff specialist". We won't use him in the offensive zone because he sucks offensively, and we wouldn't use him in the defensive zone because overall Madden is still the better package.. I'm hoping Lou is thinking of a player who can win faceoffs and actually do something else.

I'm hoping Lou is thinking of a player who can win faceoffs and actually do something else. You have to remember that this team needs three things: an offensive infusion, a more solid blueline, and improved faceoff ability. Yes, it would be optimal if a single F could address the first two needs, but, the better the player, the higher the price. And, as we all agree, while Lou has some tradeable assets, he likely doesn't want to trade away the store. As always, Lou will shop in the bargain bin -- and Eastwood would be an improvement in the faceoff area that would come dirt cheap (unlike Perreault, Hrdina, etc.)
Triumph
But I don't think Eastwood addresses that need, because he wouldn't be taking anyone's position. Okay, you say he's a slight upgrade over Rupp, but is he really? He gets 15 minutes a game and has 2 goals. I don't care how awful the players are that Eastwood plays with, that is absolutely terrible. My point is that improved faceoff ability is only meaningful if you get a player who can do something else, or else there's no situation where his faceoff ability matters. Eastwood is clearly finished. And if Lou gets the center we need, who may not be good at faceoffs, Eastwood wouldn't have a spot on the team even if we did get him; Rassmussen is still a better player and would have the 4th line center spot. JesterDevil
We should try a 4th or 5th rounder to get Pascal back.
coldply123
That could be possible if the Blues fall out of the race..........but Rasmussen to me is still better than Rheaume...........
