dmann422
And he threw away his effort tonight on a poor job covering his man. if this is referring to the 2nd goal that was about as fluky as it gets. The only reason that's scored is because it hits both of gelinas' skates after a turnover in the neutral zone. Henrique is probably the 4th skater on the ice to blame for that goal. TheRedStorm
Look for the refs to give us a bullsh!t makeup call for that weak interference penalty Interference penalties confuse the hell out of me because they are called so randomly. What Fayne did was no different than what was happening all game from both teams. Pretty much. I think it's so random because if it was called by the book, it would be called 50 times a game due to the amount of picks. The officials tend to pick (no pun) mostly the ones that disrupt the play or cost a chance. I just hate the random call when it's behind the play and the player who was "interfered" with is out of the play, already dumped the puck off and with no chance of catching up. Onddeck
Unbelievable pass by Jagr to tie it up. Let's go boys!! LGD!
dmann422
Very solid 60 minutes. We're two posts away from a 4- 2 win. The 3rd was a bit shaky but I'll take the point from one of the best teams in the league and hope to get the second here.

It was a perfect combo of fluke bounce/lazy zone play. Edited December 21, 2013 by TheRedStorm

devlman
Merrill has all the tools but he isn't NHL ready. Too often caught out of position. He needs more experience.

DevsMan84
Kind of a sh!tty ending there with the devils controlling the play for a vast majority of overtime. I guess this is retribution for that lucky OT goal in Anaheim.

Colorado Rockies 1976
Dammit...at least they got a charity point. Speaking of the Rangers...another terrific game by Lundqvist. Rangers now 1-4-2 on that 9-game homestand, with two left to play. Brutal.
DevsMan84
Yep, let's blame Schneider guess that makes sense. Corey really was a little slow on that but if it wasn't for Merrill's stick the puck prob would have hit his pad. 5 of 6 points in the last three games. I'll take that. devilsrule33
That loss was 100% on Deboer. You throw Gionta out there in OT against really good players during 4 on 4 hockey, and you will get burnt 8/10 times. We know Gionta is here forever, but this is actually why the people talk about wanting Gionta out of the lineup can't stand him here. It's because Deboer uses him like crazy. As a defensive specialist late in the game? WTF? OT 4-ON-4? WTF!?!?!?. What the hell was he doing on that shift. A second forechecker giving the Ducks all that space to break out. I'm not even sure Gionta knows how to play 4-on-4. Can we end the Elias and Jagr OT shifts too. These guys don't play together and have zero chemistry. Deboer did that with Kovy and Elias last few years. It was always a mess. Edited December 21, 2013 by devilsrule33
MadDog2020
We got a point and the Rangers and Carolina both lost in regulation. Could be worse. The Brunner injury hurts.
dmann422
Meh, overtime is such a crapshoot. You put your skilled/fast players on the ice and see what sticks. I really felt more uncomfortable with Boucher out there than I did with Gionta.
PWW
Stephen fvcking Gionta...that is all. I can't even.
thefiestygoat
I feel like the Devils were fortunate to get a point out of this game. I feel bad for Schneider, another start where the team didn't help him a whole lot. Brutal outing for Gelinas and Zidlicky the whole game, especially trying to breakout in OT vs. 1 forechecker. I also enjoyed Gionta joining in Zubrus on the forecheck against 1 D, completely forgetting that it was 4v4. Complete chaos. I wasn't a fan of the Zidlicky re-signing in the summer, and my contempt for him just grows by the game. Unfortunately, I can see him staying in the line up game in and game out no matter what he does. I can live with mistakes by Gelinas since he's a rookie and actually does offer something offensively which Zidlicky doesn't.
Derlique
Not too pissed, only because we tied the game late in the 3rd against one of the best teams in the NHL. That being said, the only players that really played well were Zajac, Greene, Fayne, Ryder and Henrique. The rookies had a rough night but there was also some unlucky bounces. With that being said- STEPHEN GIONTA IN OT? I swore that was Loktionov but after a rub of the eyes, I realized it was Stephen F. Gionta.... Good riddance, Deboer
