GDT: Penguins @ Devils 7PM

The same type of crowd that wants to turn the arena into their own personal living room and whining when "you suck" chant is taken away from them.

Not really accurate.  Not like any of us know what led to what in this case.  Also not like fights are constantly breaking out at Devils games either.  Sometimes sh!t happens.

Usually happens to the crowd that has either had too much to drink or are just normally obnoxious people who cannot control their rage or know how to act in public.  I personally find it hard to believe these are just completely random.  At least one of the parties involved in this acted like what I just stated and from the story DJ told and it looks like it was actually both of them.

Yeah, your avatar is very complimentary towards DeBoer, and you have complained about him a lot this season (and many other things).  Great, you FINALLY posted something pretty positive, but you've done a lot of bitching (much of it over the same things over and over), and in the friggin' Kings thread (a whopping three days ago), you were in "I told you so" mode with the people who had been trying to be positive up to that point.

The Devils win 4-1 against the Pens, and in the space of 60 hockey minutes, suddenly the team is coming together and fun to watch and all is well (they've actually been trending towards that for a while now, with the 7-4-2 record over their last 13, but unfortunately I think consistent goal-scoring is going to be an issue for this team all season...they're going to have trouble overcoming any goaltending slumps, and like I've said, they will be a tough watch at times.  And unfortunately, right now the team is not gifted with strong shootout performers, so instead of being something like 9-8-3 or 10-8-2 like they would've been in past seasons, they're 7-8-5).  But with your flip-flop track record, I can't help but wonder if, as quickly as you're posting sunshine, if you'll go back to criticizing and complaining if the Devils have a tough time on this upcoming trip.

I've honestly and absolutely not being the worst on DeBoer's case here, im even defending Gionta at times way more than anyone else here. EVERYONE is saying DeBoer is making weird moves, EVERYONE. So stop acting as if im the only one simply cause you you can't stand me.

Listen you clearly have a problem with me, i can't speak my mind either positively or negatively at this point you're so fed up you'll snap at anything i say exaggerating it in your head and you clearly still have some things i said in the past on your chest you keep on bringing it back after months, its to that point.

So just put me on your ignore list and that will be it.

Not going to argue that alcohol doesn't play a part in these things...often it does.  I never understood physical fighting over a sporting event to begin with...not like any of us have any control over the outcome.  The only time I ever fought in a sporting event was at MSG, and I really didn't have a choice...I won't tell the full story again, but the guy basically hit me three times as I was trying to do my business at a urinal, and wasn't going to let it go (and after hit #3, I did feel threatened).  Very telling that, even though he was a Rangers fan at MSG, that the security guard escorted him out and not me.

Did anyone see the fight after the game? I turned the corner toward upper level SE escalator (near section 124) and see a beer go flying and notice an argument between Devils and Penguins fans and an older (30s/40s, only saying older because the Pens fans were 20 or 21ish) lady in a Devils jersey walking away and her boyfriend pulling her back.

10 seconds later, I see a chick in a Penguins jersey in her face and the Devils lady KNOCKED HER THE F OUT... I'm talking like Kovalchuk knocking out Schenn or Boulton knocking out Murray: total connection with the right hook to the face. I give Devils fans credit, they were doing their best to separate the ladies but these chicks were RABID.. I can't imagine what was said. Penguins chick was bleeding heavily from her mouth and her friend stepped in and was pretty much attached to the Devils fan throwing punches and pulling hair, etc.. There were at least 5 different times that fans stepped in to separate them but they were livid, both sides.

Gotta say I give the Penguins fan the benefit of the doubt. They were two Pens fans couples that were in section 119 and were pretty respectful, nothing stood out in my mind that they were causing trouble. They weren't drunk either. Gotta say, I think it might've been a crazy drunk bitch in a Devils fan that made it happen. Hope the Pens fans are okay, she got KNOCKED out.

What sucks is that this sh!t never happens at a Devils-Rangers/Devils-Flyers game where some of the most scumbag disrespectful fans come into our arena. Who fights at a Devils-Penguins game????

Not true.  A few years ago I saw a female Devils fan go after a female Rangers fan in the 200's at the Rock.  Hard to tell who got the better of it, but both chicks went rolling down the stairs at the end of it before they were seperated.   Also, saw an interesting fight once at the Rock in 2008 or 2009 where 2 guys (1 Devils fan and 1 Flyers fan) were nose to nose when the Flyers fan's chick decides it would be a good idea to get in on it and jumps the Devils fan throwing 3 punches to the back of his head.  The Devils fan's girl then jumps up and pops her 2 times before she goes down and all hell breaks loose.

Fans fighting at a hockey game is pretty stupid.  Gladly, I feel like it has become less common since we moved to the Rock than it was at CAA where there were always multiple fights in the upper tier during Devils-Rags and Devils-Flyers games.  Maybe it has something to do with not wanting to end up in a Newark lock-up that has served as a deterrant.

Yeah I remember that story and it was because that fan was either normally obnoxious or aggressive and decided that MSG was his personal place or that he was drunk or both.  You did what you had to do and I don't blame you for defending yourself.

There are many times I see at the Rock where the Devils fan was the aggressor and I am seeing it more and more often.  This is even towards fans who are just sitting there watching the game quietly or with their kids.

He told me to pee in the ladies' room with other Devils fans in what seemed like a fun-ribbing kind of way, I joked back with "Make the playoffs!"  That was all it took.  He got out of line (he was about 8 spots behind me), then he hit me in the back of the head three times while he taunted me.  He was actually pretty scary...little beady eyes and he looked like he was legitimately not right, in a psychotic kind of way.  Even though I "won" the fight, I was afraid of him, and it had nothing to do with the physicality of it (I was a good bit bigger than him).  He was a scary guy.

I haven't really seen too many incidents myself, but I usually just watch the game, then head to my car as quickly as possible, so I probably miss a lot.

At the urinal? Who in the hell picks a fight while you're in the middle of that? I probably would have just pissed on him at that point.

it sounds like a perfect spot for a rags or flyers fan... Right when their opponent is most vulnerable.

The question is do you zip up or defend yourself?

He made a comment, then gave me a slight whack to the back of the head (yes, I was still peeing at this point).  I told him to stop, that I was just kidding around with him and that I was yeah, taking a leak!  He did it again, harder, and was clearly waiting for/wanting a retaliation.  At this point I was done peeing, but I again asked him to knock it off (there were a lot of Rags fans in the bathroom, and I was clearly outnumbered), but also made it clear he shouldn't hit me again.  He did.  I lost it.  I zipped myself, punched him square in the face, he lost his balance and fell toward a wall, I pinned him up against the wall with my left elbow and popped him in the face another five or six times, faster than I would've thought I was capable of doing, and then just kind of lost it and started yelling at him (he was bent over and holding his face at this point).  No one tried to break it up, but a couple of minutes later a security guard came in and took him out...nothing happened to me.  A couple of Ranger fans actually said "That guy had it coming, you couldn't help it."  I still felt bad though.  Fighting isn't my thing.

He did bring it on myself, but I would've rather walked away.  He wasn't going to let that happen though, no matter what.
