The people turning their noses at the people being "immature" are hilarious. It was pretty much a library tonight for the most part after the opening ceremonies. Everyone here got their way. Now you have others bashing opposing fans because they dont want to think or do exactly like they see how a game should be.

Fighting hate with hate. Always the answer!

I'm not an adimant YSer anymore but this fanbase is the bunch of snoodest snoods I've ever seen. I was actually half kidding when I said one of the new food stands should feature caivar and fine wine I'm not too sure if I'm kidding with that line anymore.

Some of these posters needs to get their monocles and top hats out of their collective asses. I'm ashamed of what the new ownership has done already. It's divided a fanbase amongest each other. Yes pro YSers are rowdy and loud but this is hockey. You are trying to turn the arena into something that it's not. Most anti YSers come off like clones of the preacher from the movie Footloose. It's amazing. You could come up with better ways to support your side then attacking those that want to chant YS and look down  upon them or say "they're mutants".

Grow up.

It's really only one poster actually insulting the YS crowd. I think a lot of us find it lame to celebrate a goal by tearing down the other team (especially when losing). I've been pretty adamant in defending YS people in the past by saying that some people enjoy games in a different way than others. However, it's pretty apparent that ownership is going for a slightly different experience, maybe making games more kid or corporate friendly. Is it really that big of a deal to just play ball a little and not add 'sucks' to everything? I don't think ownership is asking for too much. It just seems people are more interested in squeezing words into chants than they are in the actual hockey.

Did I go over the line with the mutant line? Maybe but I don't think I'm too far off.

Obviously I hit too close to home for a couple of posters since it wasn't directed at anyone here yet took it very personally.

I think your post best describes my root feeling about this. I just want this to be over with too but when I see non-stop posts on here, on other boards and on FB about starting petitions against changing of the goal song and the fact that the main reason they hate it is because they cannot say "you suck" is very telling.

Did you hear the crowd last night?  No caviar and fine wine neccesary there.  Maybe here for a couple of posters.  But the anti-YS people who said last year it was just a 'small minority' and plenty of people wanted the chant gone were again proven wrong last night.

I just don't know what the endgame is here, the pro-YS people at this point are so frigging bent over adding the two little words they're ruining the experience for everyone especially with the music turned up to concert levels to try to drown out YS.  And if the Devils are so bent over not having 'suck' be part of the lexicon that they stop the team intros for the other side then they are reaping what they sow to a degree.  Still, eventually they might be forced to resort to drastic measures like not HAVING a goal song period and just blaring the horn nonstop for a minute.  Because this **** can't go on for years and years.  Ruin every goal song just by finding a place for a YS that won't be heard outside of the stands anyway because of the loud music.  It's an impasse that's benefitting NOBODY.

I really like the song.  But for the love of god turn the volume down.  The YS chant last night was so unorganized that you wouldn't be able to decipher it.

it was so disgustingly loud i may have to bring ear plugs from now on. felt like everything was cranked up to volume 20.

You know why they do it...this is just one giant pizzing contest between the fans and ownership that's benefitting nobody.

It really was absurdly loud.

This bickering is just.. Wearing me out. It's such a trivial issue, I honestly couldn't give a sh!t either way at this point.

Hate being a negative Nancy, but this was probably the worst experience I've had at the Rock since they moved from the CAA. And the result of the game doesn't have a whole lot to do with it unfortunately.

I feel like we're going corporate, like MSG. All these stupid "upscale" food stands, a wine and liquor stand that fans were staying at all night, the continued sterilization of the environment.. It was boring. I'm sure a better on ice product would've made things a little livelier but.. For Christ stake, you couldn't get a "LGD" or a "Cory" chant going at all.

It's almost like game is becoming the second priority for some people. I don't go to a game to socialize, or sit in the lounges - I want to loudly support my team.

I seriously fear we'll be MSG 2.0 in a few years. Maybe that's been the plan all along.

You're not wrong...but that's the way all of sports is going these days with new stadiums.  It's not an accident the New Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, the new MSG, Barclays all have the same problems for actual fans.

This is 100% true. This is the trend and our new owners want to follow this trend to make money in their investment.

However to some fans the idea that the owners want to make money is wrong no matter what they do. They would rather have JVB hand out free tickets and pissing off STH until the end of time while struggling to pay the bills and leave the fans with an arena with bad food and in a condition that a 7 year old arena should not be in.

The new goal song is pretty good and from what I've seen on FB and here is that most people like it. The only ones who don't like it are the YS people.

Here's a simple thing that just looks awful still. You know that like glass enclosure right near the boardwalk stand at the top of the escalators on the upper concourse, it has pictures inside it that have been peeling off and hanging down for the longest time now, it was still like that last night. How can everyone who works there just walk by it and nobody say hey we need to fix that. It would take less than 10 minutes to fix. It just looks awful.

The goal song wasn't louder than everything else, it's ear piercing because it has zero production value.  It really drains the energy out of the situation.

Also what was up with the gymnastics going on in the main concourse?

Is Score-O gone because people might get booed?

For a team with such knowledgeable hockey fans they seem to forget the New Jersey Devils(and other pro sports teams) are a business 1st. Granted I disagree with them charging crazy ticket prices for such a mediocre and downright boring at times product but other than that...

I wonder if ownership should just go off on the ingrates. Do a shoot promo and just bury the crap outta them.

I don't think I can renew my tickets next year, since this new fan base has turned into trash. I hate to say, but they need to raise prices. The balcony is on a 9th grade maturity

I sat in section 3 last night and, to be honest, didn't hear the you suck chant too well during the goal song. The song was played so loud, my ears were bleeding afterwards. I wonder what it sounded like on TV.

My downright disappointment with the fans has very little to do with wanting to do a chant. The actions of what I would gauge to be the under 30 crowd is pathetic. Maybe it will fade a little a few games in, I can only hope.

Is this all you do? Just get your kicks on berating others? Just because some fans want to chant YS. Lol.

It is what he does. The funny thing is even when YS isn't even part of the conversation, he'll bring it up just because some fb friend of his posted about it.

They played the new horrible goal song as loud as the system could handle, in hopes of covering up the "YOU SUCK!" chant

I think the chant is stupid....I don't care if other people do it.  It is unfortunate that RnR Pt. 2 is gone because of this.  I like the song because it is a great song, and was part of our tradition for years and years.

As far as I know, RnR Pt 2 is gone league wide due to Glitter receiving royalties again AND him also being arrested AGAIN child porn.

Didn't we have a version that made sure Glitter didn't receive any royalties? In any event I think the Devils taking out the announcement of opposing players one by one shows that this was never about who Gary Glitter was and what he did. At least for this team...

I get my kicks berating others? After what you posted that people who don't like the YS chant are snobby amongst other things?

That's certainly the pot calling the kettle black.

Well, I have my opinion, which I think is pretty founded that those who don't like YS are going about their argument the wrong way and act a little snoody. However, I don't call anti-YSers every single name in the book and don't act like a complete jackass because they like to chant YS. Your superiority complex is amazing.; You preach about "immaturity" but act completely immature yourself. That's certainly calling the pot calling the kettle black.
