I can't agree with that. A talented team would be one that the coach can do wtv he wants and implement various kind of plays and he has players that has the skills to do it. Lou built a fvcking slow and old team who's a deep group talent so it's good in a way but a deep group of average players. Instead we have to play a very very systematic way and get everyone to grind it out. We struggle to score in SO, we're slow and 4 on 4 in OT it's not a luxury. We can't really score off the rush.

Just look at a bunch of team in the NHL and look at their top 6 and then look at ours.... we have to like our team but let's not be in denial here

Even talented teams need proper coaching.  This isn't the NBA.  Hockey is a very systematic game, and chemistry is greatly important.  I don't want to have to bring up Edmonton, or Florida, or Winnipeg to prove my point.  Hell the Flyers are loaded with talent, and they have 1 win.

Of course im not denying that but it's easier for a coach when he has the proper tools. Imagine coaches in Toronto who seems to all go for the run and gun, plays off the rush etc with a slow team ? that'd simply wouldnt work

We've been losing games on 'bad luck' for two years now.  Last year it was the shootout, the year before it was the shooting percentage...  At SOME point we have to accept: this team is either extremely flawed, or mismanaged.

I'd like to see another Head Coach have a crack at this roster, before I determine it being; "flawed". This is the 4th season for DeBoer, and I've never seen a HC be granted so many cop-outs\mulligans\excuses in my life. I think it's fair to say that the clock is ticking.

We were all impressed with how well the Devils started this season. But that's over now. Negated, by a losing streak, where we're taking alot of undisciplined penalties, blown leads, and allowing 14 goals over the last 3 games.

Everyone was upset how we started the season last year. 1 win through 10 games. Guess what? --we've won only 2 more this season, with Game No. 7 on Friday. (and a deeper roster) I'm not going to call the game against Dallas a "must-win" ..but if we don't find a way to win, that's 4 losses in-a-row.. with Ottawa & Pittsburgh on deck after.

Dallas is as close to a must-win as it gets in October. They gotta stop the bleeding.

To say we only have 3 wins in 6 games when comparing to last year seems odd.  If anything I think we should wait to see how many wins we have through 10 games before comparing to last year.

That's it...enough. This is Deboers 4th season as Devils coach and the constant never-ending theme is blown leads blown leads and more blown leads. This team is so undisciplined and mentally weak in its own zone when trying to hold a lead. It happened in Philly to start the season (3-0 to 3-3) heck even in Tampa we were up 1-0 with about 10 to go and blew that. And the personnel changes but the results never do. They never do. Add in his bizarre, maddening roster management and the fact that we've missed the playoffs in consecutive years (unheard of for this franchise) and this year they're a penalty taking machine with no ability to kill penalties (something else that the Devil usually always do well not take penalties and KILL THEM when they do take them)

Up 3-1 to the Rags and we leave a point on the table. This was HIDEOUS.

All the good feelings of the 3-0 start are now history and we're long past the afterglow of the 2012 cup run.

You know Lou is stewing after this one. Now I don't expect any knee jerk moves from him as that's not his style. Deboer won't be on his ass tomorrow. But I think this game better start a clock in Lou's head, where if they're not playing up to capability by a certain date then Deboer is a goner. This team is really talented. We have depth and speed and are better than the crap that occurred tonight.

THE fvck WAS GIONTA DOING OUT THERE WITH ELIAS WITH LIKE A MINUTE TO GO?

I'm shocked at how long Lou has tolerated gag-job hockey. Claude Julien was fired for being in first place. Larry got fired a year after making it to the finals and 2 years after WINNING a Cup. Pete DeBoer can turn this team into an on-ice circus and he just gets a pass for YEARS

I have been thinking the same thing for a while. I don;t agree with the Gionta hate. Players were tired so he wanted a fresher player out there is my guess.

i think weve had a pretty good pk for a while before now.. i think last season we were supposed to have like on of the top in the league if i remember correctly.. our pk was better then our pp by miles. the pp last year was sketchy.

I know last year they had the #1 PK in the league and in 11-12 not only were they #1, but set the modern NHL record for best PK %.

Seeing the PK now makes me very sad.

Our PK was first in the league last year, and our power play was 9th.

my exact feeling devs man.. my exact feelings.. i know this team is better than what theyve been in the last two games they started their season off on the road just fine.. but its some of the personnel decisions that have me upset after last nights game.. like putting clowe and zubes out there in OT.. both very slow and you can honestly expect either of those guys to really put away the gwg together.. there were MANY better options than the two of them it makes you really wonder why this moron coach would do that. i honestly am baffled.

Geez, can they at least play the next four games before you try to compare apples to apples?  After 10 games last season, they had six points (1-5-4).  Right now they have seven.  If they're under a .500 point% after 10 games (9 points or less), make the comparison to last season's start then.

As for "being impressed" after 3-0-0...sure, it's always nice to get Ws, but there were red flags...the blown 3-0 lead against Philly, Florida looking much better in the second half of that game, Cory standing on his head against Tampa early on to keep the Devils from getting rolled over early.  And we all knew this team wasn't going to keep scoring 5-6 goals...this is more of a two or three GPG team (figure a season goals-for in the mid-2.00s), that is going to need consistently very good-to-great goaltending to win.  Cory hasn't gotten on a roll yet, but we saw what can happen when he does...he's a .924 career save% guy who is at .898 in the early going.  That will obviously improve.

Not saying PDB is perfect, but I need to see more games before I can say he absolutely needs to go.  And I could be wrong on this (especially since there's no obvious candidate to take over, at least not one I'm aware of), but if this team is looking like the playoffs are in jeopardy around the quarter-season mark, it wouldn't surprise me if Lou canned him.

Threads like these make me long for the days when Devils fans were an exclusive group.  We've begun to sound like the typical Rags fans.

1.  Lemaire isn't coming back.  Move on already.  The game is different, and our team is different.

2.  How come we didn't see this thread when we were 3-0?  Ebbs and flows...That's why the game is played.

3.  We didn't play poorly last night.  If not for the freak delay of game call on Cammalerie, this could well have ended very differently.

4.  The last two seasons, the team was impacted by the poor financial state of the owners.  Why don't we wait a bit, and see how things develop this season?

5.  Salvador does look like he's lost something out there.  On the other side, the kids on defense look great.  For all the talk about how old we are, the kids we do have, have been quite impressive.

People are freaking out because 1. Poor personal and decisions by the coach (which is a recurring thing)  2. Our bad PK (which is also a recurring thing) 3. We blew a lead AGAIN (which is ALSO a recurring thing)

so it's totally fair to be worried about 3 things we've been worried about and which indeed bite our ass last night.
