'7'
The perfect storm of BS that caused Calgary to win is mine bending. Pulling the goalie with 3:30 to go and scoring twice. And we had some opportunities at an empty net, not great ones...still missed The Hudler goal that JUST BARELY trickled in Jagr handing the puck to Calgary instead of taking a knee Calgary actually scoring with 5 seconds to go Devils having a chance to win the shootout but Dumboer letting Henrique shoot. And then having Zajac try to tie it. Zajac I think is like 0 for his last 2 years in the shootout. Just bad roster management.
Devil Dan 56
I did. They won't be in a playoff position by then since there's only one game left before Thanksgiving. But I've been calling for a trade to happen since the Winnipeg loss. What trade?!? Why? To limp into the playoffs? Just unload the dead weight at the deadline and enjoy a nice early pick in June. MadDog2020
Lots of teams do this as well. It's called having a sense of reality. Something several of you don't have. Lmfao. The irony in this post...
Devil Dan 56
Nope never. I do because it's to show that every team in the league blows leads. Even the best teams in the league like Nashville. Difference of course being that Nashville leads their division and the Devils are below 500. Nashville can handle letting points slip away Edited November 23, 2014 by Devil Dan
DevsMan84
I too was scratching my head at Pete's shootout decisions. 7 is right about zajac and henrique as they are just not that good at it (I don't care about how the shootout is all luck and crap, you still need skill in there). At least he didn't put in elias again who hasn't scored on in what seems like since the 11-12 season. I would like to see guys like Larsson and zidlicky get a chance. Hell I would even be in favor of zubrus and gionta at this point. Better than putting in the same guys who do the same moves every shootout and not score. I'm glad someone else can actually notice the big picture, and look at things rationally. What trade?!? Why? To limp into the playoffs? Just unload the dead weight at the deadline and enjoy a nice early pick in June. No team ever unloads, even the really bad teams. A team like Buffalo might sell off 1 or 2 key guys, and that's it. I also never said anything about buying or selling. I simply said trade. So there was no reason to believe I would want a trade to make the playoffs. I would rather miss the playoffs and get a shot at a possible generational talent than make the 8th spot to be one and done. Even if we only have a 2% chance at getting that #1 pick if we miss the playoffs I'm all in for that. I know you would appreciate that because of you being an advocate of low percentage chances.

Sneax
Well you keep ignoring key points. While I have ignored nothing. except how saying things like "every team does this" is not proof or a point. Because it doesn't make a case against what we all know. That this team is really bad right now, even when things are really clicking we find ways to lose the game. BAD Teams do that, good teams find ways to win. Also for someone so out of touch with reality its hilarious that you would tell someone else that. Edited November 23, 2014 by Sneax

Yea, and have you been on a Nashville Preds forum? I'm pretty sure they would be flipping sh!ts all over the place like we are now. If your point was that other teams blow leads, of course they do, happens in every sport. If your point was that we shouldn't react like we are, then you are far from correct. Well we got the number 4 pick in 2011 on a 3.6% chance I believe. I do like the idea of getting McDavid, but I don't advocate tanking under any circumstance. But I AM willing to sell our veteran assets.

Muevelos
This has nothing to do with the NJ Devils I guess nobody saw the Panthers come back from a 2-0 deficit with 40 seconds to go against Nashville.

I'm all for selling some of our assets, but blowing it up isn't realistic. except how saying things like "every team does this" is not proof or a point. If your point was that other teams blow leads, of course they do, happens in every sport. If your point was that we shouldn't react like we are, then you are far from correct. But at least see how we blew this lead. Hudler's goal was a fluky bounce. The tying goal was a bad decision by Jagr mostly. You have to see things from the proper perspective. I'm almost positive that if the Devils and Calgary switched places, that people would say the Devils got lucky. I'm sure you guys would still be bashing the team in some manner. Mike Brown
The Devils are currently tied for a playoff spot. So I was wrong before. It is possible for the Devils to be in playoff position after Tuesday.

Devil Dan 56
He had a good game tonight. What exactly did he do wrong tonight? 4 goals against and a glove hand that wouldn't pass for good in the ECHL for starters.
