Big Brown Falls Short of History.

Well Big Brown did not win the triple crown here at Belmont and he just looked hurt or just tired as he finished in 3rd place and no triple crown for Big Brown. His first loss in a race and now he is 5-1 in his young career. He had a great run and shot at it but the cracked hoof really did him in.

The winner was Da' Tara as a 38-1 odds favorite to win the race. Wow! Also the second time horse trainer Nick Zito has won with one of his horses to KO the triple crown chances. Today was Big Brown and years ago it was Smarty Jones.

Big Brown comes up short of being the first thoroughbred in over 30 years to win the Triple Crown. He's now the 11th horse to have won the first two legs of the Triple Crown, only to fail in the Belmont Stakes. Here are the rest of their stories.

Da' Tara, at pre-race odds of 38-1, went wire to wire to beat eight other thoroughbreds over 1 1/2 miles, the longest and toughest of the three classics.

The sad part is for Big Brown is that he did make a record yesterday for being the first ever horse to win the first two of the three triple crown races and to finish DEAD LAST in the third leg of the triple crown. A big favorite to finish first finishes dead last in the Belmont Stakes yesterday.
