Just got back from the game. Wow, definitely the best game I've ever been to, but only because of the last 5 minutes. People were VERY pissed off after the 2nd and everyone was frustrated. But when we scored the second goal and then tied it, people were jumping up and down, and the whole arena just exploded. Noone sat down the rest of the game, and when Pando scored the 4th goal, it was as if we won the Cup. Definitely the most electric atmosphere I've seen in a game, everyone was hugging and slapping fives, just awesome to be a part of. Oh, and I completely lost my voice :whistling:

By the far the best part of the night tho was that there were 6 hardcore Laughs fans sitting two rows down from us. 5 of them were OK and respectable, but the 6th was a complete douche. He was arrogant and would chant "Maaaaaaarty" really loudly literally every 20 damn seconds the ENTIRE GAME. People tried to shut him up but he wouldn't have it. However, after Pando's goal, he just sat in his chair with his head down really dejected. During the goal song, when people sang "Hey! You suck!" every single person in our section turned and pointed directly at him. It was classic.

I can't comprehend how they could be so awful for 56+ of this game, and then be so good, only because a Leaf knocked an errant pass onto Zharkov's stick.

the only thing I'm going to talk about is Mottau. no more. I think he took the collar again tonight. Martin goes in for him, Fraser we deal with one way or another, but Mottau's reign of terror needs to end. he got points and it was his shot that Pando put home, but no.

oh, and Zubrus. he's suddenly awesome. maybe because he's not playing with Mike Rupp anymore.

You want to bust Motts fine but no one wants to give this guy credit for what he DID do playing 22:00 minutes (when he should be playing (10 -15).

If Andy Greene created that final goal there would be T-shirts made here.

He's saddled w/minutes he can't handle (1st pair minutes with 3rd pair talent as someone said) with Greene with the flu and the recent shakeup.

.... and Martin goes in for EVERYBODY.

He's the first person to whip when a goal goes in on this board (even if 5 other NJ players bumble the clear before it goes in), and the last person to get credit when he does something positive for the team.

What a game! Some observations:

1. Kovy does seem to take long shifts as someone pointed out. He does seem to "hang" near the blue line and wait for a break out when he can turn the jets on. He gets up the ice in a hurry and with his size, opposing defenders must sh!t when they see him bearing down. Am very excited to see what he can do for the rest of the year with some good linemates.

2. Will Jacques EVER keep lines and let them develop chemistry? It seemed like he used a million different combos tonight. Make some good lines and stick with them for a little while!

3. Our PP lines can be absurdly good. Especially when Patty comes back, LOOK OUT! They are going to be a serious force to be reckoned with.

4. I realllllly hope we can re-sign Kovy, and SOON. It would suck for Lou to have to wait until July 1 and get involved with the bidding wars that will undoubtedly take place. If we can lock him up....MY GOD! The trade will be one of the best of the last 10 years in the league.

5. When Martin, Elias, and Clarkson come back...WOW is all I can say....

6. Best game of the year, takes the title over from the Rags game back at the Garden in January. WIN OF THE SEASON! Hopefully a thrilling come from behind win like that can spark a nice run in this team.

Let's hope we wax the Rags good tomorrow!

he was on the ice for the second two goals, was he on the ice for the first? the second was a botched chip by Mottau right on Stempniak's stick, leaving Parise stuck, and then Mottau's tag-team partner, Whitey, managed to find the exact same spot Marty was standing in.

the third, I don't know what his part was on it, but that was a debacle of epic proportions.

I don't remember who was out on the first, but that was another classic, three guys go high on the PK (obviously meaning a defenseman vacated)...

My point is he's always called out for EVERY goal he's on the ice here, but never credited when:

a.) blocks shots

b.) clears a crease

c.) creative an offensive opportunity

And he DOES do these things.

Whatever, screw it, we can do this all season some other time - tonight lets just relish in the fact that we were not the but of jokes for the league by losing to the laughs after acquiring a top 5 dynamic superstar.

Its a night to be happy for what's to come.

Now that was a good night!

love those endings! Just got back from toronto last night and come back to the rock for a big win! Kovalchuk looked like he was still getting used to his new teammates but I think he'll be fine and the last cople months should be exciting as hell!!!

Were you in 105?

Were you in 105?

Nope, section 6, although we did notice that there were a good amount of similarly obnoxious laughs fans in the building so I wouldn't be surprised if you had a similar situation in 105. I've had lots of good experiences with Ottawa and Montreal fans, but Leafs fans just seem really obnoxious and annoying.

On a Beat Down of a Dead Horse - man do I hate "HEY! You Suck!"...moving along.

Yea we're not big fans of it either but it was still extremely funny to see the entire section point at this guy while singing it. After being a loud, annoying obnoxious douchebag all game long, to see him sitting there with his head down was classic.

Even though he was only involved in one of the three goals, and a secondary assist at that, that's what Kovalchuk brings - the quick strike capability.

As far as the it's only the Leafs point, well duh everyone knows that. Thing is, it doesn't usually matter who it comes against when you get a win like that. Having that kind of game can really give you juice and confidence. Just look at how they took off after the Tampa game earlier this year and again that was against a bad team too.
