Bartholomew Hunt
Not sure if this was brought up in another forum, but is there any reliable talk about whether the devs will have another jersey for the yankee stadium game? I know it's not the winter classic (but to us it pretty much is), and i know the devs hate changing the uniform, but it's a great opportunity to sell a ton of jerseys. I love the off-white jerseys, even the rangers ones 2 yrs ago and i'd love seeing them in a jersey that style. They'll be the home team though so i guess they'd have to be red. I think the vintage st pattys day jerseys would be dumb because thats nothing special, they do that every year except for the lockout. Devilsfan118
Doubtful. Maybe both teams agree to rock throwback jerseys or something.
Matteau#32
I would say yes. This is a money grab for the NHL and they are going to milk every nickel. I expect they will be unveiled in mid-November in time for the Xmas shopping rush. I would say yes. This is a money grab for the NHL and they are going to milk every nickel. Chuck the Duck
I wouldn't be surprised if the Devils are in the white version of the old Christmas Tree jerseys for this game, with the Rangers in some sort of throwback as well. Like Matteau said, this is a major money grab for the NHL, so I'm sure they will put a ton of pressure on teams to come up with a new alternate jersey that can be sold for crazy prices on NHL.com leading up to the game. sundstrom
the only reason i question white is that it's a devils "home" game. but it would make sense because it's the "easiest" alternate that the devils could do. I don't see them putting another logo like the skating devil from the devils den or using Colorado or KC colors/graphics. then again, they might just use regular throwback and put a stadium series patch on it. since the rangers are in two of them, i wouldn't be shocked if they have two separate jerseys for each game as an even bigger money grab. Very true about the Rangers. They are the only team I know who has a Mitchell & Ness reproduction of their 94 Stanley Cup locker room hat that was originally made by Starter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NHL-New-York-Rangers-Stanley-Cup-Hat-Cap-Mitchell-and-Ness-/171088382560?pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item27d5a98a60#ht_170wt_958
thelastonealive
I think we'll have some sort of throwback-looking jersey that's not technically a throwback. Something in our current colors but with a more "classic" look - like New Jersey in script on the front in like a cream color, with the logo on the shoulders, and probably a lace-up at the neck because that's apparently classy and classic and throwback-y. That would probably make me vomit. I hope they just use the green and red jerseys, be it white or red. I'm 100% with LL on the 3rd jersey's are just a way to bilk cash out of fans and completely unnecessary.

The only team that I can think of who has had consistent success with their third jerseys are the Rangers with their Liberty and the more recent New York shirts. I would like to see the Devils use the white throwback, but knowing Lou and since the Devils are the home team, I wouldn't put it past him that it will just be the red throwbacks again. Not to mention if you buy a 3rd jersey, you're pretty much guaranteed that your team will soon stop using that jersey and you'll be left with a relic of little value. Bibby89
I took a gamble on the jackets 3rd. Luckily they still wear it because I really like it. Unfortunately like a dummy I got Nash's name on it.

From a branding standpoint in a nationally televised game I'm fine with having red jerseys.. Red is our color, lets promote it and let the Rangers have the boring white jerseys.. While I want white throwbacks, I want a good red 3rd for this game
Legion15
Why not do like I saw in the Juniors championship? USA and Sweden both wore color... why do sports even need white jerseys anymore unless both have colors that are too close? It's just a hold over from Black and white tv

USA and Sweden both wore color... why do sports even need white jerseys anymore unless both have colors that are too close? It's just a hold over from Black and white tv Sweden doesn't have white jerseys, they just use blue as dark and yellow has light. The Kings used to so a similar thing with yellow and purple. You need white jerseys because most of the league wears similar colors. Off a count in my head, 11 red, 10 blue, 5 black, 1 burgundy, 1 yellow, 1 green, 1 orange. It's just easier for the teams to take one set of uniforms on the road when they travel.
Matteau#32
I would love to see them do blue vs red. Wanted the Rangers and Flyers to do Blue vs Orange 2 years ago. USC-UCLA do it for football (at least they have a few times) and it looks great. On another board, someone thinks all 3 teams will have uniforms with pinstripes to tie-in the Yankees. THAT would suck.

Ollie McKraut
always thought home/road "whites" were a dumb concept, I didn't even realize it had anything to do with black and white tv.

I was thinking something along this line as well, except instead of the script, there would be one of those circle logos with the main logo in the middle and the team name written around the outside. I know there are other teams that do this, but I had the Wild's retro logo (started out as their alternate, now it's on the home jersey) in mind when I was designing the Devils' version. I used cream instead of white because that seems to be the new "classic" thing to do, and there's two versions, one for a white jersey and the other for a red jersey. Also, as you can see, I used the original green instead of the modern black. And I can't decide if this would go on the Christmas tree jerseys as-is or if the white on those -- regardless of whether it's the home or away one -- would be changed to cream. I was playing around with the mockups they have on nhluniforms.com and jerseydatabase.com, and they sort of look good with the cream and they sort of don't. RowdyFan42
always thought home/road "whites" were a dumb concept, I didn't even realize it had anything to do with black and white tv. Yup. Same reason why the blue lines are solid and the red center-ice line is not.

LucifersDog
Too bad the game isn't being played in NJ since the Devils are the home team. All other home teams are playing in their city or state.
DevsMan84
Instead of putting up a new thread I figured it was cleaner just to bump this. It looks like there will be at least 1 Stadium Series game next year as it was leaked through Ticketmaster that there will be a game between the Sharks and the Kings at the new Levi's Stadium (new SF 49er's stadium) on Feb 21, 2015. I just found this interesting as I thought Bettman said earlier this past off-season that they were putting a hold on the SS games for at least 1 season before thinking about bringing them back. i guess the $ might have been the main factor in changing his mind.
