I could never wish him harm and I don't understand why others would. He's done a lot for the team and I think he's been a nice guy. He certainly was when I've met him. I couldn't have asked for a better favorite player. I won't be angry about him leaving because he should do what makes him happy. If that means leaving, so be it. I wouldn't want an unhappy player on the team. I admit I'll be disappointed if he goes for the money though, but not to the point of hating him like everyone hated Bobby Holik. Personally, I think he will go back to Canada, maybe Vancouver though that's not the closest to his hometown. I don't believe the rumors about him signing with the Flyers or somewhere equally hated for money. He already had the chance to remain on a winning team with a large salary. I don't think he was stupid enough to think he'd get more under a new CBA. So, maybe he just wants to do what he feels is best for his family. And the ones who come calling could be unattractive. Niedermayer undoubtedly made a mistake not accepting the Devils' offer last summer. But this doesn't necessarily mean he's gone. Langdon (Good guy to go up against the bigger teams like Boston, Flyers, Leafs) Madden (Very excellent) Marshall (Ah depends how rusty he will be) Matvichuk (I'm excited to see him) Oliwa (bad ass) Pandolfo (Same as Brylin, no surprise to see him on this list) Rasmussen (Most underrated guy of the Flyers series, he's got that Crasher Line mentality from back in the old days) RFA's: Elias (A must to sign, and I know it will happen. He's simply a Devil) Friesen (He's bouncing back from a poor season. He will be cheap too) Gionta (Do I need to explain?) Gomez (An absolute must) Hrdina (I want to see him back, he showed us a lot in the Philly series) Kozlov (Buh bye) Langenbrunner (A trooper, and he likes it here) White (A cornerstone to our D, kinda kills me to say that...) Stevens is coming back. He's got at least a year left in him. Parise is going to make the team too. Gotta be on acid to think he won't. He's got the experience now and he's got the skills and heart to be huge. Plus we gotta show teams like Philly who have Carter and Richards that we have a prospect that kicks ass too. In my eyes, this season is time to declare war on Philly. They pushed us around and shoved everything back in our faces, time to totally redeem ourselves. Nieder is tough to speculate. I believe he's either staying here or going out to Vancouver. I don't see him going off to the Flyers or Leafs. He isn't a back stabber. He's got better things to do than that. I think he's going to see what Vancouver decides and go from there. If they don't retain Bertuzzi and Nasland, then they got a lot of dough to use on him. If they get one of them, then I think he's a lock to go there. If they retain both of them then forget Vancouver because they probably won't have enough cash for him. Rafalski is a keeper. Him and Stevens are a fantastic pair together who have been seperated for a long time. He would be a must of Nieder decides to go elsewhere. He's simply too awesome on the PP to let him walk. Now I gotta talk about the possibility of the Rags buying out Holik. Imagine that happens. I say he comes back. And I bet Lou offers him something low too, I got no doubt in my mind. Both of them got their ways in the past, it's over and done with. Holik knows exactly where to win. He would get $45 million out of the Rangers. He's set for life. He'll sign a $1 or 2 million contract. If the Preds, Panthers, Blackhawks, etc and the Devils offer him the same contract, guarantee he picks the Devils. He was that gigantic center the Devs missed. Madden is the better offensive center, but Holik still has that size. He can shutdown guys like Primeau when used properly. He's that big and strong. MadDog2020 Posted July 13, 2005 Share Posted July 13, 2005 My annoyance at Nieds is that we offered him alot of money, he was appreciated and would be the Captain within the next year or so (I believe #4 will retire after this season...if he comes back at all) and he turned it/us down. I sort of feel like we/Devils organization nurtured this kid into a winner and he turns his back on us because he thinks he can get more elsewhere. My heart dropped when I heard his Norris acceptence speech. I was just about to buy his jersey for next season with the "C" on it. I guess I feel betrayed by him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. I always respected Nieds as a person- I even met him twice and he couldn't have been nicer. But I don't care that he didn't bad-mouth the organization or the fans or anything- if he leaves to go ANYWHERE- as I've said- but Vancouver for LESS MONEY- he's a liar and a traitor. That's what he said he wanted, and anything else is unacceptable in my eyes. I've always said if he wants to go home to raise his kids and what not- fine- a salute. But if he turns around and goes somewhere like Toronto or God Forbid Philthy- than fvck him and the horse he rode out of town on. I don't respect greedy liars.
