The Devils had an optional morning skate Friday as they prepared for Game 2 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Defenseman Johnny Oduya, who sat out Thursday's practice for maintenance, took part in the skate.

Also on the ice was former Devils goalie Chris Terreri, a special assignment coach. This must be a special assignment.

The top line of Jamie Langenbrunner, Travis Zajac and Zach Parise were first on the ice, along with Jay Pandolfo, for their usual quick shooting session.

Brendan Shanahan, Rod Pelley, Niclas Havelid, David Clarkson, Scott Clemmensen, Andy Greene, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, Jay Leach, Bobby Holik and Mike Rupp also skated.

Brent Sutter did not go on the ice.

I find that interesting. Wonder what he's doing.
