and damn I hated it as much as anyone, if not more.....

so who else is kinda sad to see it go??

I mean after all... let's see....

3 Cup Banners....

the 2001 and 2003 finals in person

#4 and #3 in the rafters....

Saw Ric Flair win the NWA Title there for the 7th time (back when that was an AMAZING

feat) in front of 5000 other brave people who endured the snow....

the Kurt Angle/Shane O Mac StreetFight

saw Page and Plant there as well as Metallica, back before they became a pathetic

joke (my first concert)

and so much more...

yeah it was a hell hole to get to and for and during... but dammit it was kinda

home too, and I know the new place is gonna rule.... it was HARD to walk out that

door one final time.....

anyone else?

The Devils

Aerosmith

U2

Bon Jovi

the King of the Ring, the Raw after Stone Cold won the belt at Wrestlemania, the return of Bischoff

But I ain't sad to see her go.

The only thing I'll be sad is being apart from some of those I've watched home games with for my entire life. Some of us are still together in section 18 (or 19) but others have been moved around.

i loved the moments in there but i will not miss the place

it was abysmal looking, a bitch to get into and a bigger pain in the ass to get out of

i am so thankful that i am just a walk to the train away from the new arena and i will be frequenting it as often as i possibly can

Im going to add a nice little story to this...after the game I ended up talking to this guy who came down from Toronto, he had been a Devils fan for 20 years and he wanted to see at least 1 game at the CAA so he drove down for it. I thought that was pretty cool.

That being said, yes I have many good memories in that building, pretty much all hockey related except for the King of the Ring and hopefully this upcoming SummerSlam. This won't be my last ventures though cause I will most likely be going to some Nets playoff games this year.

It will be odd being in that building though, especially if all the Devils banners are taken down.

I'll be happy not to have to look at

GIANTS

everytime I park at a Devs game.

There aint no way I'd miss the building. It's just the house, what's important is the peeps in it are moving too.

looking forward to HOME GAME 1 !

and seeing our retooled team and as many of you characters as possible.

BTW, My siggy, sadly is back to old one already. :evilcry: I think I'll change it up for a bit. Especially since, it is over. :evilcry:

Great memories. I wish I could've seen the '95 Cup win in person, but I was able to be there for game 7 in 2003. Scotty and Dano's jersey retirements, 3 parking loot parades. It's sad to see it end, but a new era is upon us now. Bon voyage, Meadowlands!! It's been a great run!! :D

Have many great memories there. Grew up there. Was there for the 1st all-star game w/ Joe Cirella. Was there for the Mother's Day Walkout w/ the whole "Have Another Donut" Shoenfeld/Koharski debacle. How about it? Score-O, pot being smoked on the upper ring, Captain Kirk, Pat Verbeek, the Little Ball of Hate, plus the Cups, seeing Marty score a goal vs. Habs in '96 playoffs. And who can forget the Giants Stadium tunnel? Let the good times roll in Newark, though!

I obviously don't have many fond memories but I recall going to a Rock N' Rollers game which was cool. And also enjoyed my 1 season with the FSNY production truck. What a bunch of nitwits. LOL

I also got to see arguably your best team many nights which was fun. They should've repeated.

The CAA food wasn't much to write home about but their popcorn and Mrs. Fields was good.

I also went to one Rangers-Devils game which was supposed to be Holik's return with a Devil friend. But the idiot came into camp out of shape making the game kind of meaningless. Messier tied it late and that's how it stayed.

Crasher, I took my brother to Summer Slam too. Was that a decade ago already?

My memories of that place aren't as great as a lot of other ones mentioned because I didn't start going to many games until a couple years ago because nobody else in my family was ever into hockey, but I will never forget my first game there, a 2-2 tie against Chicago back in the 92-93 season which sucked me into being a hockey fan for life.

Some other memories of that place that I will always hold with me are

-the 2000 banner raising in which my uncle kept bugging me because he wanted to leave early and I told him it's not over yet and then they tied it as time was running out

-my first playoff game, whatever game it was against Montreal in 97, the game after Brodeur scored

-the 2000 Stanley Cup parking lot celebration

-Game 4 (I think) against Ottawa in 2000

-a Rockin Rollers game, I wish the RHI was still around.

-holding the American flag with some other guys I was in Cub Scouts with for a Devils-Lightning game

-some game in November of I think 2000 against the Leafs where the Devils were down 2-0 and Elias finished off a natural hat trick in OT to win the game

-having my picture taken with the Stanley Cup on the concourse

-Game 2 against the Rangers last year

-the first game after the lockout, Crosby and Parise's first game, Parise's first point and goal

-sitting in the front row for the game against Montreal last year a few days after Elias returned to the lineup

Unfortunately, I will probably never forget seeing Graves score that goal in overtime in 1997 right in front of me either, but I guess if it wasn't for that I wouldn't appreciate all the good memories as much.

*sigh* Mrs Fields.... it did hurt to say bye to them

and I think it was... they are having it there in August...but I don't think I can go... I said goodbye already last night....

- The 95 cup win, and getting my picture in the NY Times the next day

- The 03 cup win, and waiting in the lot over 12 hours for game 7 tickets.

- Shooting the half court shot at a Seton Hall game (I was 12... didn't make it.)

- NCAA East Regionals (I forget what year)

- Carvel :)

I know some people may hate it, but as for me, I will miss it a lot. Other then one Jets - Raiders game at Giants Stadium (which I didn't even enjoy too much being a Seahawks fan, plus I was 7 years old, so I found it boring) the CAA has been the only place I've been to for any sports. I've been to many games since I was about 6 or 7, some awesome games in some awesome series, such as Game 2 vs. the Rags last year. Now this is coming from when I was a kid and had a different perspective. But, I'll always remember the long drive up from Toms River, looking at stuff I don't get to see in a normal day, seeing the Newark Airport with planes taking off and landing, seeing NYC across the river, getting to stay out late and such. I remember a long time ago, before the players stopped coming out after games, I saw Brylin and Peluso out in the parking lot and got em' to sign my hat. That hat's also been signed by Dowd at the Brick Ice Palace, and by Marty at the Sports Authority in Brick. I don't know, I loved going to games at the CAA, and I was in a pretty depressed mood last night. I'll miss it a lot. I am looking forward to the first game in Newark though, hopefully I can score some tickets to the first game.

one last time like I posted in the GDT last night, the final pre-game activities at the CAA, ever.. :

I have tons of memories--cant even begin to name them..at least 30 concerts and other things... games, different sports, lacrosse, everything.

BUT.. i do remember being given a guitar pick by james hatfield while against the stage in the "mosh pit" at age 12 maybe?? My uncle took me and he had been there the night before so he scoped out where to go when the General admission gates opened. I also remember that I said my first CURSE word in front of a family member...as fire shot out the stage and we were so close i said HOLY sh!t...and my uncle gave me a hard time about telling my mom and dad. He was only kidding but I remember being really worried because my family was never a cursing family and saying damn and hell was frowned upon back then!

Im not really interested in the audio... while I still love the black album.. Ive outgrown Metallica... Im gonna look through my tickets and get back to you..I should have it saved. I know it was AFTERR they toured with GNR/Faith No More cause I was there too.

Gave the pick to my uncle, since he was a huge fan, I think i only got it cause i was a little kid at the front of a crazy moshing crowd trying not to get crushed!

324 regular season games since February 1983.

84 playoff games including game 7's in the finals.

Time to start the counter at zero again :evilcry:
