DevilMinder
NJDevs has been notified that legal action will be taken against the site regarding copyrighted material from Star Ledger and its sister publications. They are requesting all articles be removed from the site and other material. We request that you use a brief article description for all articles and a link in the future. This includes the reporters blogs that have been posted recently. Thanks.
sammyk
Wow, I thought you had mentioned this earlier, when did we go back to posting full articles again?
themiddle91489
Wait, they're actually DOING something or will if we continue to?
DevilMinder
They want me to delete all the prior postings as well. This wasn't a generic letter, they named specific infractions and consequences.
UnderDogX
People know we exist so that's a good thing.....right? Kidding...I'm with Sammy, I thought this was always the case....I blame n00bs
Weekes Head
Not surprising, it was only a matter of time. Hopefully people actually follow these rules...might be a good idea to make the topic title in all caps so people would be more inclined to read the thread. Elias26
Well at least we know they read the site! I'm guessing if you share your newspaper with someone they'll go after you too....
Chimaira_Devil_#9
I guess this site is getting more hits about articles than the site posting the news:P

squishyx
doesnt need to be in caps, there just needs to be a permanent sticky saying how articles should be posted. Yea yea, spare me the "we should all know the rules" routine, clearly some people don't, people forget, and for newer people they might not catch on right away. mrthemike
You can't quote articles in forums that are free to the public anyways? Just curious what the reason for that is. Credit is given to the writers, papers, etc.. NJdevs.com isn't claiming it as their own. I don't see the issue. If someone reads them here the newspaper loses traffic and therefore reduced ad revenue because they can't say they get as much traffic.

Just thought I'd throw that in.

Doesn't matter, nj.com can still claim they got x amount of hits to the page. Also, I don't think all ads are blockable.

sammyk
That's true too and even less likely have an ad blocker installed regardless of their browser.
devilsadvoc8
And with star-ledger's trophy case of Pulitzer Prizes, they need to be protective. Seriously, I understand, it is their content. Summarize and link. No big deal.

Yea, it's true. Anyways, I don't see one ad on nj.com thanks to ABP. It's great. You can block virtually all that crap with it. Highly recommended (if you use firefox).
