2012 Jets Thread

The Jets have one of the easiest schedules in the league, half the team they have faced are under .500.

San Diego, Philly and Cleveland would all beat the Jets.

C'mon, in today's NFL, you can't say San Diego, Philly, and Cleveland would all beat the Jets with 100% certainty. Jets would likely win at least one of those games...for what it's worth, they came damned close to beating NE in NE.

No one can ever say with 100% certainty about any given Sunday. But matching up head-to-head at this point in time, it is far more probable that these teams beat the Jets. I think right now St. Louis would crush them.

The didn't come close to beating the Pats on Thanksgiving at Giants Stadium though did they?

In what time machine are you watching your games through?

St. Louis has an unimaginative crap offense due to Schottenheimer. A so-so QB and worthless receivers. The Jets D can handle that sort of stuff...and the Rams D is a speed D. They're very undersized and got pushed around by our O-Line in run blocking. Powell and Greene would have a field day against those soft DT's once again

The one that has won three in a row including the SF 49ers (and tying them as well)

Schott's intrict systems take time to learn, so it doesn't surprise me that they are just now starting to get it.

Bradford is going to improve tremendously under Schott even with worthless WR's.

the same time machine of 2009 that jets fans that think they got braylon from. i just checked his stats. dudes got 1 td this season

he was the best guy out there to step in for Hill after the injury, the Jets just couldn't sit around and do nothing

..yeah, and Mardy Gilyard, Chaz Schilens, Patrick Turner, Stephen Hill, and Clyde Gates have 3 TD's COMBINED! Here's the thing people don't understand; Edwards doesn't have to be better than he was in 2009.. he just needs to be better than the aforementioned this season. Next season his objective will be to play behind Holmes, and compete with Kerley & Hill between the #2 & #3 WR spot(s).

These are all very reasonable expectations for a 29 year old receiver, that already has a rapport with this organization\quarterback.

An argument could be made that Sanchez was the best QB to ever to play with Braylon, which is why he had success in NY. Granted his final days with the Browns, Seahawks, and 49ers left more to be desired.. but you could absolutely attribute that to the QB's that were throwing to him. When looking at BE's career, outside of Sanchez, you got: Ken Dorsey, Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson, Richard Bartel, Russell Wilson, and Alex Smith as the group of field generals hurling passes his way. Smith is probably the best of the bunch.. but to throw 16 TD's last season on a team that won 13 games, should tell you all you need to know why he's a currently backup now.

Smith had 13 TD through 8.5 games this season...one could argue he was improving, though TD passes are a little like saves in baseball...you can manipulate that number a bit. If you're at the 3 yard line and you punch it in or throw for a TD, was the QB who helped orchestrate the drive worse for not having thrown a little dunk pass? The QB rating system would lead one to believe that.

It's obvious that Smith's coach and his franchise weren't in love with him. But he played well enough this season and last that he shouldn't have much trouble getting a shot somewhere else...there are always teams looking for QBs.

While he'll find a starting job somewhere, his career as a relevant QB is likely over. He'll have the same problem with any team he goes to that he had for the first four years of his career. Crappy coaching and awful pass protection. It might be different if he lands in Arizona with Fitzgerald to throw to.

Staying on topic, CRAZY ass stat courtesy WFAN.... *Outside the Jets, over the last 40 regular season games played with the Browns, Seahawks, & 49ers (going all the way back to the 2007 season) Braylon Edwards has caught only 5 touchdown passes!! 5 TD's over the span of 40 games!! --not including the 2009 or 2010 seasons with the Jets!

Amazing how this guy performed well with the Jets and seemingly no one else throughout his career. It's actually astonishing that he has 40 career TD's.

im sorry but i disagree. qbs and wrs make eachother. u shouldnt have to play with a great qb to out up great numbers. if that were the case than only the wrs on pats broncos packers would excell

It's not about playing with a "great" quarterback, it's about playing with the RIGHT quarterback.

Dustin Keller had the same amount of yards, receptions, and touchdowns playing with Brett Favre his first year, as he did with Mark Sanchez the season after. Does that mean Sanchez is as good as Favre? How about Burress & Cotchery for that matter? Between 2004 & 2012 Plaxico has 5 TD's in 14 games with the Steelers. Yet, he had 8 last season on the Jets in 16 games. Likewise, through the 2 years J-Co's been with Pittsburgh in 2011 & 2012, he's generated 2 TD's in 24 games. Although, the 2 seasons with Sanchez (28 games) between 2009 & 2010, Jericho had 6 TD's!

I guess Sanchez > Roethlisberger right??

..or maybe chemistry is based on more than just who's rated higher in Madden?
