SegaDevil
We lost Gionta? Boston has a good fourth line? Our lease influences players towards the Rangers? Did any of that make sense? This is a guy who made a career out of getting hit in the head with heavy objects....
MadDog2020
Was he on acid when he answered the questions about the Devils? Yeah he's a tremendous Devils fan, real die-hard we got here.[emoji57] Edited November 12, 2014 by MadDog2020
TheMazz
You know, for someone that's a big NJD fan I was shocked when I read it as well. Especially since we lost Gionta ages ago.

Colorado Rockies 1976
You are a huge hockey fan, and a big Devils fan, what was it like attending the Stanley Cup between the Devils and Kings and what do you think the Devils need to do to make the playoffs this year? To save everyone some time, here's the only part of what he said that has any relevance: I really can’t answer it, I don’t know.
MadDog2020
I hate it when famous people pretend to be fans of sports teams. Almost all of them are exposed as phonies when someone asks them about 'their team' (there are exceptions, but not many). Kevin Smith is another one. Claims to be a Devils fan, probably couldn't tell you three things relevant to the Devils in 2014. Every time I see him, he's wearing that dopey Edmonton Oilers-looking jersey. Colorado Rockies 1976
Bummer re: Kevin Smith...I thought he was truly into them. MD2020, are you just guessing at that or was he ever "exposed"?
Devils731
Kevin Smith is still a big Devils fan. It's not unusual to see him tweeting about games and he will attend games from time to time.

MD2020, are you just guessing at that or was he ever "exposed"?I haven't seen any hard proof of phoniness like this Edge interview, but he seems more aloof about the team since going 'Hollywood'. Also, he used to rep the team a lot more wearing gear and sh!t, now every time he does a public appearance or you see him, it seems he wears that stupid Oiler-colored roller hockey jersey. Kevin Smith is still a big Devils fan. He would sneak the logo into movies even before the Cup years and his shop in Red Bank has plenty of Devils stuff. Not all fans are as hardcore as us. A lot of fans just follow the teams loosely. He did reference the goalie situation the sentence before that. Maybe Gio was one of his guys. I don't think he's gaining anything by incorrectly claiming he follows the Devils. jim777
the majority of fans just want the team to win, they can't tell you who was on the 4th line on a given date. they are fans in that they want the team to win - they are not fans in that they know how much cap space we'd have if any given player went on LTIR. Devil Dan 56
Walt Flanagan, who runs the shop, is a huge Devils fan. Hence all the Devils gear in the shop Yeah, but Randall wore a Devils hat in Clerks, the Gatorade guy in the roof hockey scene rocked a Devils jersey, and Elias in Clerks 2 was named after Patrik, who Smith said is his favorite player. You could see him at games more often a few years ago.
devils102
To be fair, if someone asked me how to make the Devils successful again, my first reaction would also be sheer panic. Did anyone else watch wrestling in the "Attitude Era"? I thought it was interesting to read about that stuff. The guy is clearly smart, but his Devils knowledge is pretty weak. roomtemp
http://www.wwe.com/inside/superstartosuperstar/exclusives/38771602221 Here's Edge interviewing Brodeur in 2007. About Kevin Smith. He's still a big Devils fan hell he paid for 4 of his friends to have season tickets in the club area during the 2010-2011 season so they could do a Devils podcast. But he also became really really enamored with Wayne Gretzky at some point when he was watching a DVD about him in a blue period of his movie making career. So he's a Devils and Gretzky fan (mainly during his Oiler days hence the Oiler style Kevin Smith jersey he wears.)
