There's wrong and then there's WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.

This is

WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!

And in this vein, the Poltergeist remake is coming out next month. Remember how scary the clown was in the original? And what a surprise it was when his face changed? For the 2015 version, there's already pictures of the clown in both "normal" and scary form...the scary form is RIGHT ON THE FRIGGIN' POSTER!

fvcking Hollywood...please start coming up with some new ideas please. Not everything needs a CGI coat of paint and the squeezing in of modern technologies into the plot.

Not to completely derail the thread (although it may be too late lol), but Hollywood blows. You saw how much Hollywood blows with the Sony leak. There are no original ideas. Everything is either a remake, a book, a sequel, a prequel, or a fvcking superhero/comic book movie. Enough with the fvcking superhero/comic book movies too already. I readily admit I enjoyed the first two Ironmans and the Bale Batman trilogy was great, but how many fvcking sequels do we need?! I heard there may even be a Scarface remake. SCARFACE. You CANNOT remake Scarface. It was perfect the first time around. Leave it the fvck alone. Ok, end rant... For now lol.

I can never figure out how someone named Matteau#32 is a member of a Devils forum. That should not have been permitted during the registration process.

Every few years, someone always negatively brings up Matteau's Rangers fandom as being a reason as to why he shouldn't post here. Listen miftz, you are starting out as a fine poster on this board, so don't go down this road; Matteau has been around here waaayyyy longer than you and has waaayyyy more clout on here than you as of now. Don't ruin this board by telling posters who are fans of other teams that they shouldn't be posting here. We have already lost enough of our non-Devils fan posters over the last 4-5 years. This is an open forum where fans of all teams are welcome. Sure his user name might be a bit obnoxious and trollish, but he nonetheless is a valuable contributor to the board.

Don't forget Mad Max 4, which from what I saw in the trailer looks to be a rehash of The Road Warrior (aka Mad Max 2).

The new Mad Max looks fantastically done and produced in line with the original's feel. People love to hate on the idea of remakes, but it is pure demand that is driving their creation in the first place. Sure, many of the remakes suck and many shouldn't have been done, but remakes in and of themselves are not blasphemy or necessarily bad.

Shame on you sir, my favorite things in movie and TV (especially more TV now) are Arrow and the Flash, I can't get enough of them...especially the Flash!!! It's gotten to the point that they are popular enough that you can finally get their stories done RIGHT.... (well except poor Green Lantern but his origin sucks anyway....alien crashes and gives dude an epic ring of power....not much you can do with that)....give me 50 Avengers movies (and I'm a DC kid) over any more 50 Shades of Grey pieces of garbage :P

Plus there's still the thrill of seeing all those stories you knew and loved come to life with actual actors....

......what you thought I was gonna talk hockey??? HA!!!!

I got my fill last night when my team came back from down 4-1 to win 7-6....and I still didn't get a single point :P

I'm actually a pretty big fan of the series (Mad Max was great, The Road Warrior is an epic while Thunderdome was good up to the point where he beat Master Blaster in the Thunderdome.  After that the movie went downhill) and I am going to see the new one when it comes out next month or so.  I am fully expecting a basic rehash of the Road Warrior mixed in with some elements of Thunderdome, but keeping a generally open mind.

Funny part is the lead bad guy in this new one is played by the same actor who played Toecutter in the first film, who was the leader of the gang that killed Max's family in the first movie.  Perhaps a connection there?  We will have to see.

I hear ya Crash, I wasn't trying to hate on those movies specifically, I just wish Hollywood pumped out more original content. That's my biggest beef. It just seems like everything is an adaptation of something else or a sequel. Edited by MadDog2020

Been a member here for a very long time. Read several different boards of other teams. Secondly, if I wanted to troll I would take stabs at the Devils, don't see where I have done that here.

I didn't mean by my post that I thought you were a troll, I actually think you're just fine. I just hate your name :)

I'm a Miami Dolphins fan... We haven't won jack sh!t in 42 years. One playoff appearance in the last 13 seasons. Zero playoff wins in 15 seasons. I'm well versed in being beaten down by a favorite sports team. Since my freshman year in high school, I never had to worry about the Devils being competitive- even though I saw my first game in '85, I was too young back then to understand just how bad the Devils were pre-Lou. So now, for the first time in my adult life, I'm becoming well versed in being beaten down by two favorite sports teams... The only two sports teams on the planet I give a rat's ass about. Obviously, there are way, way worse things in life, and sports is meant to be for our enjoyment and entertainment...But damn, if it doesn't suck.

You think that's bad? Try being an Orioles fan. It's a lesson in masochism every season.

Or a super hyper-realistic humanized version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Was anyone else super creeped out by them?

If you're referring to the Brian De Palma 1983 version, that in itself is a re-imagining of the original Howard Hughes 1932 Scarface.

Neb00rs, I'm not 100% dead-set against the ideas of remakes, and don't dislike them by default, but too many movies that were excellent the first time around have gotten remakes that were destined to be inferior to the originals, no matter how much they were modernized or had bigger and better budgets.  To me, if there's an idea that had potential but simply wasn't executed well the first time, that's when you do a remake.  Not every older story needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the present day.  A great example is the original Willy Wonka movie...it was filmed in 1971 and still holds up just fine.  The 2005 remake was completely unnecessary.

Complete agree.  An example of remakes that went well is Nolan's Batman series and Captain America (the one from the early 90's is basically a B-movie).

I find it funny that they are also now doing remakes of films that came out not long ago.  I think they are working on another Punisher reboot which would make it the 3rd reboot in the last 10-15 years.  Then there is the current Spiderman series when Raimi's series only ended in 2007.

I actually thought the Bale Batman reboot seemed kind of too-soon, but considering how bad the Val Kilmer and especially the George Clooney versions were (thank you Joel Schumacher), there was room for a reboot.  I actually prefer the Tim Burton versions (especially the first one)...that voice Bale uses when he's in Batman mode is ridiculous.

And yeah, the Spiderman reboot REALLY felt way too soon.  The Raimi versions were all solid and still feel current.

I used to blame Joel for ruining that franchise, but over the years and from countless interviews I have heard from him and others regarding those movies, he was basically trying really hard to make the best of a bad situation.  He and others have said countless times (and I believe them) that they were under enormous pressure from studio execs to make the movie as marketable as possible.  He also even has brought up many times a particular meeting when they were developing Batman & Robin (George Clooney one) with the studio execs and they were going over concepts for the film.  The story goes that in the meeting the execs kept looking at drawings for the batmobile and the other tools and the looks of the characters and kept asking to change them in order to ensure they would be easy to make toys out of them.  That and they asked Joel and the writers to dumb down the movies to make it appeal more to kids who were their target audience to see the toys and ask their parents to buy them.

Joel has since said when he shot those 2 movies he felt like he was filming 2-hour long toy commercials.  Judging by the finished product it sure looks like it.

Bringing this thread back to hockey/the "let's celebrate everything" New York Rangers:

They will be honoring the team for the President's Trophy tonight. Rangers twitter trying to blow it up like its the damn Cup.

Not surprising. This right before they go out and take a dive tonight to help their chances of scoring pitiful Ottawa in the first round. Edited by MadDog2020

Hats off to the Rags, I don't know how but Sather and his scouts have put together an incredibly talented team.

Absolutely agreed, especially with how horrendously he originally managed the team when he first arrived. Just hate seeing them do well, bastards.

Lets just give credit to Sather and the Rangers they have it going on, unlike the Devils who are in a major 5 year decline heading to 6, you chose who to blame for that decline.

Yeah a 5 year major decline that included a trip to the Stanley Cup finals.
