MadDog2020
Well to be fair and to keep this civilized i personally simply like to have hockey talks with no blinders whatsoever. I don't like talking to a Devils fan with blinders just has much as any other fanbase. Someone with clear blinders who actually acknowledge it with a similar statement that you did ( not attacking you at all ) i can see where credibility gets a hit. What's the point of having discussion with someone with blinders really? You could put out all the facts in the world and he wouldnt want to see it. Fans often use "passion" as an excuse to be able to use non-sense and do stupid stuff but it really shouldnt be an excuse. So basically if we're on a Devils forum, i don't think we should all dumb down our discussions and close our eyes on some facts eventhough it means giving some credit to a rival team. I get the whole rivalry thing but we don't have to behave like were 8 years old either lol Ok fine- the Rags have some good young players. They have a great goalie. They have a great young Norris-caliber d-man in McDonagh. Overall, they are better set up for the next few years than the Devils are. I'm not arguing these points, because most of them are unarguable at this point... I didn't say I was INCAPABLE of having an objective discussion. I said I didn't FEEL LIKE IT. Two different things. That said- fvck the Rags.
Jerry Lundegaard
Oooooooooo other fans might think I don't have 'credibility'.... Oooooooo, I don't know how I'm gonna sleep tonight now... What ever should I do guys????!!!! Listen, you want an objective discussion on the Rangers, go to a fvcking Ranger board and have at it. I have nothing objective to say. fvck them. Yeah I could do that. Or I could do it here, check out the name of the thread bud. Yes fvck the rangers. Things like that can be understood without being said. And let's be honest- you NEVER need a good reason to sh!t on the Rags lol. Wow, practice lines right now. Cammalleri Zajac Jagr Havlat Elias Ryder Ruutu Henrique Brunner Zubrus Gionta Bernier Extras: Tootoo, Josefson JoJo better not sit. Thats just nuts. If Josefson sits after the way he's played, I give up on Pete. That's just straight asinine.

It is such a shame, Josefson is comning into such a solid player. id maybe like to see him instead of Bernier too

Louismydad
Dude.... Do you think they know that? They made it to the conference finals and the only reason in their mind they didnt win the cup is cause Price was injured. Now all i see on my wall is screenshots of the standings showing the Habs first in the league, goals / penalties, / saves or any announcements all game long and sh!t like that.... it makes me want to quit fb almost but i need it to deal with my clients all the time. if they had price I think they would have won against the rags but no way in hell was any team in the east ,other than Boston, even in contention to win the cup

ATLL765
Its not nuts at all. Youre speaking like a true homer. Have you ever watched brassard play on a nightly basis? Bring up whatever obscure stats you want, brassard is undoubtedly a more talented skilled player than zajac. More goals and points than zajac in less games. What has zajac had one very good year in his career? Playing alongside 2 elite players in the NHL. Step outside the diehard devils fan box and look at our players objectively. I watch the Rangers play all the time. I'm not sure how you can call points an obscure stat. Like Tri said, Brassard and Zajac have nearly identical ppg over their careers and their average TOI shows that Zajac is relied on much more heavily than Brassard. If you watched the games, you'd see Brassard is not used against other team's top lines. We all know that Zajac is not only facing other team's top lines, but is relied on for offense as his line if expected to produce night in, night out. Really amazed that you could think Brassard is better than Zajac in any way when if you look at the stats, there's nothing to show that he's better. NJDevs26
Zajac's career stats include his two years of Parise, he's never been close to being that kind of offensive player again. Brassard is better offensively, Zajac's better defensively, it's actually pretty close to a wash - maybe a slight edge to Zajac cause there's a bigger difference between them defensively/faceoffwise than there is offensively. It's not really close to a wash - Zajac's skill set is rarer. He yanks lines ahead. Zajac's PP numbers are why he's got so few points - Zajac has 4 5 on 4 goals in the last 4 seasons, and that covers over 500 minutes on the power play. He's shooting less than 6% on the PP over that stretch as well, so it's some bad luck, some bad skill. (I think he had a few 4 on 3 or 5 on 3 goals that pull those numbers up but still, they're not good).

Brassard is better offensively, Zajac's better defensively, it's actually pretty close to a wash - maybe a slight edge to Zajac cause there's a bigger difference between them defensively/faceoffwise than there is offensively. Even if you just look at the games played from 2011 on, which is what I did, they still have nearly identical ppg and that only includes one year where Zajac played with Parise. It's definitely not a wash. They produce offensively at basically an identical rate, but Zajac is significantly better defensively. Zajac is better than Brassard in every way. The only thing Brassard has over Zajac is that he's a bit younger. Zajac is clearly the better player here.
