'7'
http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2014/03/devils_martin_brodeur_pretty_sure_hes_not_retiring_and_seems_to_be_warming_up_to_moving_on.html “My kids want me to play,” Brodeur said. “Actually, the twins want me to go to Minnesota, the other wants me to go play for Ottawa." “Anthony goes, ‘Dad, you’ve got to sign with Ottawa because I can stay with you,’” Brodeur said. “Selfish kid!” So could Pittsburgh if the Penguins give up on Marc-Andre Fleury, which seems to be possible, too. “Maybe,” Brodeur said. How about returning home to Montreal? Brodeur’s thought about that, but sees that scenario as unlikely because Canadiens No. 1 goalie Carey Price isn’t rested much when healthy. “It would be hard with what they have in net over there,” Brodeur said. “I don’t mind going in a diminished role a little bit, but not to the extreme of playing 10 games. That’s not enough.” Seems to me that Brodeurs mind is elsewhere already. So why do we need to keep him happy by giving Cory's start tonight to one of the worst goalies in hockey? What is going on here? Edited March 27, 2014 by '7'
MadDog2020
He never saw this opportunity coming… not after Cory Schneider played almost every game for two months … not after knowing for sure that being traded before the NHL’s March 5 deadline was a real possibility. Never, huh? Even after he bitched to Lou, he never saw this opportunity coming eh? Ok. Sure.
Devilsfan118
So he's already checked out mentally, that's good. Seen enough Pete? Enough to run with Cory for the rest of the season? Nah of course not. “The thing is I always believed in me,” said Brodeur, 17-14-4 for the season with a 2.51 GAA and .902 save percentage in 35 games. “Not believe, believe … but I felt good all season long. I stayed healthy, but when you don’t get the chance to prove it, it makes it a little harder. He's played more this year than he would've anywhere else. It's just sad he doesn't realize it. '7'
I'll give Zach Parise some credit here. When bigmouth JP said that Zach would love to play for Tortorella during the 2012 ECF, Zach flipped a sh!t and immediately went to his dad to make sure that stuff was retracted. Could you imagine, game 6 of the ECF and Parise is like "yea I could see myself playing for the Rags...and my wife really wants me in Minnesota. Pittsburgh? Maybe? Devils are scratching and clawing for a playoff spot. They actually put the POS in goal tonight...Brodeur is thinking about playing in Montreal TASK AT HAND MARTY! Colorado Rockies 1976
SHUUUUUUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUP! Jesus H, it's enough already! Your team is on the outskirts of a playoff race, but isn't 100% dead just yet. Can you just say "I'm still focused on the present. and what's happening here..the future will work itself out soon enough, but right now I'm still a Devil." or something to that effect? Triumph
I am overjoyed to hear this kind of thing. Although wrapped inside there is the delusion that every team would love to have Brodeur. I could easily imagine Ottawa signing him though because they are desperate for any revenue - they could trade Craig Anderson somewhere and go with Lehner-Brodeur. That's what bothers me the most. I'm not a big Brodeur fan so I don't care if he's in another jersey next season...but all the Devils fans that still worship him, he just doesn't give a sh!t how much he's hurting them. He can consider, think about, decide with his family whatever he wants for next season...but when asked about it in the media you have to say no comment and that you're only focused on beating the Coyotes tonight. Mike Brown
This is turning into a bitter divorce. SIGH. Oh well at least it's not as bad as the way Martin St. Louis left Tampa.
RizzMB30
Brodeur sees the writing on the wall, and he's just being honest. Yeah, he's talking about these things, but I'm thinking that he cant find a job elsewhere and will likely be crawling back to Lou asking for a small 1-year deal

devilsrule33
This interview is for everyone who thinks Brodeur does nothing wrong and just asks the questions during his availability. This is Brodeur agreeing to a special interview request by a reporter who has been on the beat for 3 full months. The comments are ridiculous. 100% uncalled for comments. On another note, although Avery is a classless douche, Brodeur still deserved to get fired on by Avery for even addressing his stint with Dancing on the Stars. You go after Avery...well...you are going to get burned hard. This is what happens when you've never heard of the words "no comment". Yeah, he's talking about these things, but I'm thinking that he cant find a job elsewhere and will likely be crawling back to Lou asking for a small 1-year deal I initially defended his honesty, but now it's just bad taste. Openingly naming other teams he might play for when there's not only 10 games left in this one, but also it's well-known that the Devils will likely have to win 8+ games to squeak in? At the rate the Devils are going, he'll be able to talk about his future and other teams in just over two weeks. He can't friggin' wait until then? Even if you hate it here and have had enough, can you just put a clamp on it until April 13? TheRedStorm
Wish I had enough time to make a sign for tonight. Don't let the door hit you on the way out sh!thead. When he lets in the soft goal tonight, with the next save give him a round of applause. What's he going to do, be even more passive-aggressive? Leave? (please...). Borrow an Ottawa/Pittsburgh jersey someplace and hold it up behind him during warmups. Or how about just be indifferent to him in the (hopefully) short time he has left here? But, maybe, with time now winding down in the season and a loss or two from being gone, perhaps people should give a little back to him now in a capacity that lets him know he's lost respect in the eyes of the people who loved him over 20 years. Satans Hockey
I love Marty and reading this nonsense sucks. I know he hasn't been good this year but I would love to see him retire as a Devil. This is just another reason why this has been my least favorite past year to be a Devils fans. It all just sucks.
Jerzey
Feels like a slap to the face. Hard to stick up for him anymore. Devil Dan 56
I've always been a fan of Brodeur. Back when I played in the long long ago, I always tried to had equipment and sticks like his, tried to use his style, all that. But even I hope he's gone after this year, for the good of everyone. For him, for us fans, for Cory, for the Devils. It's just better for everyone involved except for whatever team thinks he can play more than 20 games next year.
