Brett Favre retires

Recommended Posts

This is some what bad news for the NFL. He is one of the NFL greats and legends to play the game. I liked Farve and to see him finally retire and walk away from the game healthy and on his terms takes a lot of guts just like the way he played the game. It is an end of an era and it is all over the NFL Network channel that Farve packs it ib after 17 seasons. His continuious record starting game streak comes to an end. To me this is a sad day in the NFL and to all the Green Bay Packers fans. The NFL and this game will miss Brett Farve.

What made Farve's decision to retire was seeing the signing of WR-Randy Moss back to the patriots. Farve wanted to play with Moss this coming season and Green Bay could not lure Moss to play with Farve which made his decision a lot easier now. I am suprised to see him go out this way but he did have one hell of a career.

1. I don't buy it...he's just being a bitch cause they couldn't get Moss

2. this whole retirement crap with him has been a BIGGER joke then with Clemens

3. the Packers may be BETTER OFF under Rodgers... you know a guy who.. um... follows the system?

4. Favre will be starting for Green Bay day one I have NO DOUBT about it... he'll get past his bitch fest and realize how GOOD this team is and his ego won't allow him to step aside

Is the plot thickening?? :noclue:

FAVRE SITUATION SUDDENLY GETS WEIRD

As it turns out, that dark cloud in Wisconsin could quickly become a storm.

Brett Favre's agent, Bus Cook, has told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that Favre wanted to play another year, but that he felt like the Packers didn't want him.

Uh-oh.

"I know he wants to play one more year," Cook said. "I do not know much conversation there was and I don't think anyone forced him to make that decision. But I don't know that anyone tried to talk him out of it."

Uh-oh.

"I think he wanted to play," Cook said. " I think he's still got it. He knows he's still got it. I think he felt he could play one more year. I don't know if they told him they really wanted him to play. That's just the feeling I got."

Uh-oh.

Asked whether Favre could be talked into returning, Cook said, "I don't know."

Well, maybe the media speculation that the guy who brought Favre to Green Bay, former G.M. Ron Wolf, might be whispering to Bill Parcells about trying to get Favre to Miami is more accurate than we initially thought. Because if Favre wants to play another year and if it's not with the Packers, then maybe it will be elsewhere.

But if Favre doesn't play for the Packers in 2008, either because he's playing for someone else or not playing at all, we think that there could be an enormous backlash against the team. Specifically, G.M. Ted Thompson could find himself in the crosshairs of the fans' criticism.

Never mind the fact that Thompson has done an excellent job; the perception that he ran off Brett Favre could be the quickest ticket out of town for Thompson.

If, in the end, Thompson gets saddled with the brunt of the blame for Favre's departure, the pressure on Thompson to leave, too, will be tremendous. And, as a practical matter, it will put him on an incredibly short leash if the team falters in 2008.

By the sounds of Favre on the phone conversation with ESPN Chris Mortensen he is done guys. He is retiring. He has really nothing else to play for and he has done it all. I am not believing any of these rumors or things that other people say about Favre.

Favre himself said he is tired and really drained and will retire.

I have to admit I am choked up right now and have some tears watching Brett lose it in front of the news media and the microphone. It is hitting him very hard and he is not coming back. Very emotional now and as a fan and a football fan Brett Favre was one of the greatest. It is just as bad and maybe more emotional than the Elway retirement news conference. Favre is really retiring from the NFL and it is a sad day in my opinion. The NFL and the Green Bay Packers are going to miss Brett Farve.
