American_Psycho
That guy has a cannon, not sure if he's any good defensively though.
Triumph
Unless this is a prelude to Larsson playing in the WJCs or being sent to Albany, I don't get it. Foster is not good.

Bibby89
Foster might not bring anything to the table defensively, even though he cant be worse than fraser, but he does have a rocket from the point. that cant be a bad thing.

Triumph
Don't know much about these guys, but no fraser and pelley is a good thing, right? Pelley finally going is a good thing, but Foster seems to block Taormina. I guess one of Foster or Taormina will be the 7th guy and that makes more sense going forward. Also between Corey Foster and Adrian Foster, the Devils don't have a good Foster history. Edited December 12, 2011 by Triumph
Quinn01
Pielmeier is the 10th goalie in the ECHL to ever score a goal. All star goalie in the ECHL. Edited December 12, 2011 by Quinn01

Colin226
How good is this guy at avoiding defenders with his slap shot, that would otherwise result in breakaways for the other team? Anyone have a stat on that? Seems to be where we need to improve on the pp Edited December 12, 2011 by Colin226
DevilinLA
PER LOU: “He’s a right shot and he’s really a power-play specialist and his shot is what makes him,” Lamoriello said. “Also, he played under Jacques Lemaire in Minnesota and then he had an injury after that. He was in Tampa Bay under (assistant coach) Adam (Oates). We’ve seen him. We’ve played against him. And he went through situations in Anaheim where there were power people ahead of him and in Edmonton it was a similar situation (last season). So, he hasn’t played that much this year. But we know enough about him. He’s 100 percent healthy and we’ll give him an opportunity and we’ll see what he brings. “We’re looking for someone who can handle the puck at the point and the power play is something we’ve been struggling with.” At the very least - two players of which we have many of that type - for one guy we have less of. The gain of cap space of $700K or so I'm not thrilled with but he's UFA. One less contract though! Alos, Lou sees the SHG problem and addresses it publicly. thefiestygoat
Hopefully Foster can help the PP. I can't complain about the deal since all the Devils gave up was spare parts. Kurtis Foster Stats Timo Pielmeier Stats Pielmeier's career seems a bit underwhelming. I'd imagine he is still behind Frazee, Kinkaid, Wedgewood, and Clermont on the depth chart in terms of long term plans. I wonder where in the ECHL will he play? Clermont is splitting time in Kalamazoo and their is no room up in the AHL for him. I guess he will be loaned to another team.

Triumph
Also how pathetic is Anaheim that they want both Pelley and Fraser? And now they have both Pelley and Smith-Pelly. I hope they are able to mutually part ways with Pielmeier, there can't be a need for 6 goalies on the reserve list unless they intend to do something crazy. SterioDesign
Ana has plenty of prospect goalies... Gibson, Bobkov and Hiller should be there for awhile so "2010-11: Pielmeier made his NHL debut in a February game against St. Louis, playing the last two periods in relief of Curtis McElhinney. In his only NHL appearance, he allowed 5 goals on 12 shots in the 9-3 loss."
DevilNurn
Wow, can't believe they were able to get rid of Fraser, that's a miracle move. Pelley has been milling about without a place for a while. I guess Foster fits as a 7th D-man, good while we're still missing Greene and Volchenkov but I don't really see how he fits into the long-term scheme of things...and I'm sensing based on Lou's history that he probably doesn't. Regardless, I'll take getting rid of Fraser as a good move.
DevilinLA
In respect to the "topic of the day" with the board respect issue I offer a public concession! I fully acknowledge to TRI that my respect for Pelley as a potential bigger contributor (per LL's big "We need to make room for players like Rod Pelley") was a mistake. You were right Tri. Nice guy, fireplug, good checker with a lot of heart - but a truly interchangeble part. Welcome to SOCAL Roddy!
devlman
Foster PP specialist with 42 points last year... I like that move I think we did quite well with this deal. Fosters got a canon. 42 pts from a defenseman is excellent. And we gave up surplus. On a side note, good for pelley and fraser to get a diff opportunity now, as well as to be traded together since they are good friends. I argued both ways on Pelley, he showed signs of becoming a decent player, but seemed to have taken a step backwards in recent months. The Ducks may get some use out of him, but here, he wasn't really even capable of holding down a 4th line spot.
