NJCroMag
I found this exchange between Cangialosi and Chico particularly puzzling... CHICO: "So then he asks me if my refrigerator was running, so I said yes. Then he told me to go get it!" CANGIALOSI: "Oh, so it was a prank call." CHICO: "No. I'm pretty sure it was just a wrong number."
The 29th Pick
Palmieri was clearly trying to avoid if anything. The reffing was just atrocious tonight. If anything the Flyer should have been in the box for diving...that was horrible, Napalm hardly touched him. And yeah the reffing was bad (again).....and why does every review in Toronto go AGAINST the Devils ?? NLinfante
I'll post a longer recap later but I need to agree with Colin, the flyers fans were very well behaved. I didnt have a single problem the whole night in the parking lot or in the game. Love the feeling of walking out of an away game with a win. jim777
from http://www.nhl.com/i...s.htm?id=598844 Kovalchuk wasn't the only player leaving Philadelphia at less than 100 percent. Goalie Johan Hedberg told reporters his back was stiff and he had to sit while speaking with the media. "Something popped in my back in the middle of the third," he said after stopping 20 of 23 shots. "The good thing was my crouch was the position that felt the best. That was the best position to stay in. So it should be fine (Friday). Right now, I'm a little stiff." MadDog2020
Surprised to hear about the docile Phailure fan behavior, maybe they all took their meds last night. Edited November 4, 2011 by MadDog2020
Aznjsn
my favorite quote from Chico last night was during overtime speaking of Parise and two other players, "Ok this threesome, they can go a hard minute."
Pepperkorn
If that wasn't a stop, then what is? Thankfully, Patty snuck one under; how the heck did he do that anyway? Pure and simple focus. Clarkson has it going on too -- just being in the moment to the LAST VERY LAST nano-second. Most everyone else is panicking a nano-second before they get a shot off so it's not going to go in. these guys are just watching to the bitter end - they never stop playing. That just what a work ethic is - not so much working out 24/7 practicing every hour of every day. You may HAVE to do that much to learn how to not let the nerves kick in. Elias is so focussed I'd wager he doesn't even know it anymore -- it's just his nature. He MADE that happen it wasn't dumb luck even if he suspects it was. You just can't stress preparation enough -- and part of preparation is just being there in the moment. Those 2 are prepared. Sykora needs to just get focus to get on his groove. he's too intuitive and that does let you down - it dupes you into thinking your prepared. Kovalchuk too. but it's something he needs to truly realize on his own. Words, not even his own clearly understood words, will not penetrate his psyche. If he keeps working his ass off never thinking he's arrived or worked enough -- never getting frustrated by lack of result - he'll get there - and sooner than he thinks. I'm happy with Parise -- he's really leading as he has his own struggles, you know? He's very young but his heart is just in the right place on ice. Maybe they were in shock to know they can be beaten in their own building, and we did it... I guess their inner redneck doesn't come out until they come here. I guess the drive up the Turnpike is enough to enrage them I expected trash talk and mini - riots with us beating them in their own arena, and they way they seemed to influence the refs calls, I expected if the refs weren't escorted from the arena by cops, there'd be angry mobs to confront them. That Briere shootout goal is a moot point sort of now cause it didn't win them the game, still garbage they allowed it. Loved Henrique's goal, Flyers trying to move out of their zone, just pick-pocketed by kovy and schooled by Henrique. saw this on HF, pretty funny reasoning from Moose on why Briere's BS counted: TGfireandice Tom GulittiHedberg on Briere SO goal: “It was a good move by him. I don’t know if they reviewed it. It seems to be allowed because they allowed it.” Edited November 4, 2011 by Legion15
Colorado Rockies 1976
Marty has only played a little over 2 games so far, that's not a lot of sample size. No sh!t, which is why I said three or four more games to get it going. Devils just don't have much a margin of error to give him much more than that if he's struggling. I'd love nothing more than to see him come back strongly after his last start, and he may very well do that. My point was IF he has a tough 3-4 games, Devils may have to think about going with Hedberg for the short-term future. It was a hypothetical, not a conclusion based on a little over two games. And even IF Marty were to struggle over the next three or four games, and even IF Hedberg would get more starts as a result, I wouldn't write Marty off for the season. I'm sure he would get other chances. Edited November 4, 2011 by Colorado Rockies 1976
newarkdev01
I just hope that they are able to get some chemistry for the line with Parise as the Elias line has looked good, regardless of who they put him with. It's a long season, so I think you just want to see the sophmores and rookies improve and be in a good position come playoff time.
Pepperkorn
Briere STOPPED because moose came out on him and caught him going left,he got stoned! I've never seen a shooter SPRAY SO MUCH ICE ON A STOP during a shootout what is the INTENT of the F'n rule then???!!!. ROOSTER TAIL OR WHAT? I was shocked they said he didn't stop and I also think the fayne hooking was a BS call, it had nothing to do with the player going down nor missing This I disagree on. He got his glove as clearly as Briere stopped intentional or not it was done. btw even if marty was healthy moose probably gets the call against philly hes the better butterfly'r The Flyers are a darling team right now. As I said the last game the Devils used to be - they really did even though they'd get a costly blown call once in a while. Maybe it's all the tough sh!t they've been pulling historically. Maybe they had a sitdown and Flyers said "You want it to stop? then lighten up your calls against for decent play penalties. Call the other team once in a while so we dont have to exact revenge - If we're going to get penalties we're going to make them count." It really seems like the NHL has folded to the Flyers - the only reason I can fathom is so they stop giving hockey a bad name in the press. Devils were that clean, so when they did screw up it's as if they were above reproach That's what Scott Stevens does for you IMO. Jamie's BS dramatics really may have gone a long way to eliminating that advantage for the team I hate to say. EdgeControl
im still wondering how Elias got that puck under Bob's pad... mind blowing I watched it a few times now in slow mo, it must have been telliported through the pad, there's no other explaination. and in doing so universal harmony was restored and the space-time continuum re-established due to that BS "no-stop" call but Next time patty go top shelf
Onddeck
AND BTW, no one has really mention it yet, our D still played pretty poorly...ESPECIALLY on the Jagr to Giroux goal, that was horrendous. they looked like children just following Jagr around the net. sh!t has GOTTA step up

Wow I don't know where you were sitting but I was at the game too and the fans were trashy animals. They were not only throwing food at everyone who walked by with a Devils jersey on, they also were turning on their own kind. Flyer fans fighting Flyer fans. It was hilarious because it happened when they were up 3-2. My girlfriend is a Flyers fan so she had some orange gear on, which is what probably saved me from getting heckled. I was going to post a rather long winded recap of my night which I made for my friends this morning, but it's only going to cause issues and I dont feel like taking crap online from strangers... but the short version is I had a blast. Only went with one other devils fan, met a bunch of random flyers fans tailgating and made some friends over beers and food. Everybody was pretty nice. Inside I actually got asked to watch my language from some guy who brought his old lady to the game (I apologized, I was a little drunk). Im normally not an ass in the stands, but I was all jacked up about this game for some reason. It was all in good fun anyway. I would have no reserves about going there again, but maybe I was just lucky this time.

Dead
Johan Hedberg did not practice for the Devils after complaining of back pain following his 4-3 shootout victory Thursday. And defenseman Andy Greene, who sat out Thursday's game with a lower-body injury, will participate in the morning skate Saturday. He'll be re-evaluated afterward. http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=3808 we can not catch a break, other than broken players

I mean I heard some boo's (after I had walked past those pople, of course, because they didnt have the balls to say anything to my face) but other than that I had a pleasant experience.. Even the bathrooms were docile.. Hell, they heckled their own fans in there more than any Devils fan and I was ready to throw down all night The refs tried to suck the Flyers d***'s but still their fans booed the refs and chanted A$$HOLE during the shootout review I had a blast and their fans acted completely normal to me
adam85491
i don't like going there at all, it's just convenient given my location. it's great you had a good time, i get a little tired of retarded yelling (getting circled and hearing a retarded "i hate jersey" chant on the smoking balcony for 5 minutes, being called a ++++, a$$hole, etc. the entire night, it all gets a little old). obviously i'm used to the filth acting like idiots, and maybe last night was not as bad as years past (of course the 2500 empty seats might contribute to that), but I will offer them no compliments.
