ghdi
I wonder if we're shopping Ruutu... I doubt anyone wants him at his cap hit + he's got another year left. I think Ryder and Havlat are our best bets at this point to be moved, but I wouldnt be surprised if no one wants them.
Triumph
Nah the other conditions are the ones given by Ken Campbell of THN, presumably, and the ones that I posted here. As usual the journalistic thing to do is to either pretend that no one else exists (Gulitti) or just steal wantonly from other people (Chere)
Lateralous
It will be interesting to see if Zidlicky only wanted to go to Detroit. Could just as easily been LL taking his time because "when you have time, you use it" and he just missed the window to get a good return. I really didn't expect a lesser return than Jagr. PWW
So pretty much these are the potential outcomes from the best I can understand out of that tweet: Detroit fails to make EC Finals: We get a 3rd in 2016 Detroit makes the EC Finals: We get a 3rd in 2016 and a 5th in 2015 Detroit makes the SC Finals: We get a 2nd in 2016 Edited March 2, 2015 by PWW

mfitz804
Some of you guys are ridiculous.... we moved an older guy to obtain a younger asset eventually. You can't come out with a complete steal in every trade. It's better than nothing so just accept it and stop cryingI think you are on the wrong message board
HOLLYWOOD
lol... wiki already updated February 24, 2012, Židlický was traded to the New Jersey Devils from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Kurtis Foster, Nick Palmieri, Stephane Veilleux, a Washington Capitals' second round draft pick in 2012 and a conditional pick in 2013. In July 2013, he was re-signed by the Devils. On June 3, 2014, Zidlicky was re-signed by the Devils to a one year contract worth $3 million, plus $1 million with incentives. On March 2, 2015, Židlický was traded from the Devils to the Detroit Red Wings for a 2016 third round draft pick. DJ Eco
It will be interesting to see if Zidlicky only wanted to go to Detroit. Could just as easily been LL taking his time because "when you have time, you use it" and he just missed the window to get a good return. I really didn't expect a lesser return than Jagr. Ehhhh, I don't know. If there were a time to get a good return from Zidlicky, it'd be these last few hours; considering the deals that have been made already. If Coburn and Yandle were still untraded, you could guarantee Zidlicky's not even in discussion until 2:55PM for most teams. He was never going to yield better than a 2nd round pick, and that's if there were no NTC involved. There is an NTC so I have faith in Lou that it was the best we could do if the m.o. was to trade Zidlicky no matter what to give Severson/others a spot, which I'm fine with. As for Jagr, I think most people think Florida overpaid, which I agree with.
Mitico12
I don't get it why Zidlicky wouldn't want to go to any team that was suggested to him. I mean, most teams making a play for Zid are most likely playoff teams. Besides, at the worst case, he lives out of a hotel for 2 months... What's the problem... eldon
Considering his play declined from last year, I'm happy with a 3rd rounder. Now the Detroit radio & TV announcers can pronounce his name 7 different ways. Edited March 2, 2015 by eldon
PWW
No. If Detroit makes the SC Finals, the Devils get a 2nd and a 3rd in 2016. This is what I hate about Twitter. Too few characters to clarify things in cases like these. Edited March 2, 2015 by PWW
caron14
He is 38 years old and is done... Ok to trade him. even if the return is not awesome... We have to be realistic.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Meh...if Zids was only willing to go to the Red Wings, Lou was stuck. Zids held the cards. I've said it before, but if anything, the extra picks the Devils are acquiring might give them flexibility to move up in future drafts. Sure, always nice to get more, but doesn't always happen. HellOnICE
He's so not done. He's going to fit in nicely with a good team. He's still really effective.
aylbert
a third 2 years from now is marginally better than nothing. How about a third 2 years from now... and we are now slightly worse now for this years draft? We didn't need him, so anything > nothing. caron14
Maybe not for the end of the season... but next year he will be 39 years old... and wont be better in his own end
Triumph
Zidlicky is still effective for sure - he's had a bad run shooting this year (how many posts has he hit?) but he still has the offense. The penalties are a negative though.
aylbert
I hope NTC and NMC become things of the past. Such a ridiculous premise. If I'm making millions, I'd give up some some substantial cash for a NMC. Family life matters.

Could be any reason really, we don't know. Maybe he has family in Detroit? Maybe he likes that there are two Slovaks (Tatar/Jurco) and a Czech (Kindl) there? There's really no way for us to know. HOLLYWOOD
Well, the bright side is Lou has unloaded 81 years of age from the roster in 2 players... this helps to stop hearing the leagues commentators with "The NHL's Oldest Aged Team"
SterioDesign
I dont know why some people here would be upset that we just got a 3rd for Zids who's basically done while we lost so many players in their prime for nothing and they we're fine with it cause "we were not gonna get much for them anyway so who cares" this board sometimes...
