Number 3 seems pretty unrealistic to me. Rychel is more valuable than Gelinas even to a team that wants defense and might not have room for Rychel in the lineup when everyone is healthy. I would just be kicking tires about it. Is 27 mil too low ball? 3) Because I think Colorado is going to trade ROR at the trade deadline and we could just sign him next year, I would take a chance on Semin - maybe Zubs and Burlon for him and a pick. We'd have 3 years of a potential marquee guy. If it backfires, we can buy him out with a cap hit of 2.333 mil for 4 or 2 years depending on the year we do it. Then it's basically getting a better pick for a buried prospect. As a sidenote, for all of you that say how much they hated Devil retreads, I'm seeing a lot of Martin/Oduya/Halischuk. Agreed, I believe it was Elliote Friedman in his 30 Thoughts column said that teams who are talking to Colorado about ROR are going to want to be able to talk to him/his agent about an extension before pulling the trigger. BPA - Whether its Marner or Zacha or Provorov or Hanifin, just take the best player available at 6 regardless of position or trade down a bit (i.e. 8-10) and pick up another asset in the process. 2. Drew Stafford 3 yrs/12M. Don't break the bank and don't go long on any UFA. I'd go to 5 years with Soderberg if necessary. 3.
