Daft Punk came out last night at the MSG Phoenix show.... I'm incredibly disappointed I missed that.

And I am BEYOND thrilled that I caved and bought tickets last week. HOLY GOD that was the concert moment of the year for me, in what's been a pretty damn good year of shows.

They came out during the encore while Phoenix was playing If I Ever Feel Better (this was after Phoenix went into the crowd to play a couple of songs, including one entirely in french, acoustic in the crowd). Went into Harder Better Faster Stronger and Around the World. Did a brilliant bit with Phoenix mimicking the melody from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Then everyone launched into an extended version of 1901 to end the show.

Phoenix were alright up til that point - pretty good, solid, and fun, but nothing particularly special yet...but that encore...THAT'S how you do a fvcking encore. Good stuff.

Like DevilNurn, I was most pleased by the fact that the singer counted in french to kick off songs. Small things amuse me and that was one of them. Oh, and the fact that their keyboard/percussionist looks like he was either a 70s porn star or a member of Styx.

In all, a top-fvcking-notch show.

The Devils offered those of us who are season tickets holders a pair of tickets in the Goal Bar sections for $75, so I'm thinking about it.

Oh wow, wish I had access to that offer...two tickets for 75 ain't bad, especially for Muse, who are a stellar live band.

Going to see VersaEmerge play in South Hackensack on November 18. Really wanted to go see Rammstein since I've been a huge fan for years but I can't afford the tickets.

I'm finding a way to go to that Rammstein show one way or another. I definitely can't afford it, but I refuse to miss it.

I saw Daft Punk play at the CMJ Music Festival over a decade ago at Roseland Ballroom. It was while "Homework" was still new. I forget the year exactly. I'll have to look through my ticket stubs.

Just got back from The Dirty Heads and Sublime with Rome (one of the perks of having a basketball arena right down the road from campus, I'm back already). The Dirty Heads were ok, didn't get really good until Rome came out for Lay Me Down. Sublime, though, was AMAZING from beginning to end. Mosh pits, pot in the air (I wasn't smoking any...just putting it out there :P), exactly what you'd expect. Date Rape and Santeria were especially awesome. Rome is a perfect match for Sublime, in person he sounds almost exactly like Brad Nowell. They played a few songs from the album they just recorded which were good, I'm curious how it'll be on an album.

That's sweet! How do I do that!??

Welcome to the boards.

Are you asking how to become a Devils season ticket holder, or how to get the deal? Because my guess would be that they only offer the Muse deal and ones like it in the future to people who have special standing in the arena (like Devils and Nets STH's). Maybe you have a friend (or can make a friend) who received the offer.

Anyone make it to Offline Fest in Brooklyn last night? Kanye West came out at about 2:30am and tore the fvcking roof off the building. Im not much of a rap fan, but holy christ. I wasnt there (watched on Youtube), but my friends are raving about it.

I'm moving back to NJ in a week and Im eagerly anticipating my gig-going, already purchased boats of tix to stuff. Granted, I work in the industry, but still theres nothing like the concert schedule in NYC anywhere in the world.

My upcomings

Tonight - Crayon Fields in DC

Thursday - Jenny & Johnny + The Love Language (brilliant band; check out the album, Libraries) in Charlottesville, VA

11/3 The Duke Spirit - Santos Party House - Tix for this are $5

11/4 The Black Angels/Black Mountain - Williamsburg Music Hall

11/13 Zero Film Fest opening night. Im participating in this, so it doesnt really count, but Im still excited.

11/15 DJ Shadow - Irving Plaza

11/16 DJ Shadow - Brooklyn Bowl

11/17 Darwin Deez - Mercury Lounge

12/1 - The Radio Dept - Bowery

12/2 - The Walkmen w/ School of Seven Bells - Terminal 5

AND Prince just announced hes doing two shows at MSG and 3 at Izod in December. Hope to make it to 2 of those.

So glad that my first concert at the Rock was Muse. I didn't really care for the new album much, but godDAMN did those new songs sound good and loud and epic and incredible live. Every time I go to a Muse show, I think to myself beforehand that I'm not as big of a fan of theirs as I used to be, and that it's not going to be great, and yet it always, always is. Great fvcking show.

I really want to go see deadmau5 later this week but it looks like it's sold out (not to mention expensive if not). So I think my next shows are Foxy Shazam/Free Energy/Hollerado in Brooklyn on Black Friday and dredg/Circa Survive two days later.

Sadly, I've been to very few concerts this year but I am going to see Steven Page (formally of Barenaked Ladies) and Kate Miller-Heidke play at the Highline Ballroom this coming Monday. Another cursed General Admission show, but hopefully I can snag a seat if I get there early enough.

Saw Parkway Drive and a shed load of other bands on wednesday.

Parkway were amazing, Beach balls, fake palm trees and crowd surfing in inflatable boats!!!

Also a wall of death with an aussie rules football for £50 of merch.

Amazing.

Went with Dad to see one of his fave acts Procal Harum at Westbury Theatre in Islander Country. Nice place to see a show even if it was different atmosphere. But wow. Did they put on a great concert. Just a unique blend of piano, organ/keyboards, guitar, bass and drums, creating a dynamic sound. My Dad grew up with this British act and saw some them some 40 years ago. Last time he did was with our Mom in '91. They really played phenomenal. Everything was so crisp. Loved the tribute to 9/11 and fallen soldiers in Afghanistan. Played with such meaning. They played their big hits on the final two encores, including "A Salty Dog,"

"Whisky Train," "Conquistador," "Repent Walpurgis," which last nearly 20 minutes and was absolutely mind blowing. Of course, they saved the best for last sending everyone home happy with "A Whiter Shade Of Pale." Just seeing the sheer joy on his face was enough. I knew some of the songs which helped.

It's amazing how well they sounded. Gary Broker still has mean pipes. The man is fun too often cracking jokes and also playing awesome piano. Their guitarist Geoff Whitehorn was scintillating. Just ridiculous riffs and so smooth sounding. It was really a great time. Anytime shared with the best Dad in the world is.

Let me know how Steve Page goes. I can't decide if I want to see him.

Steven. Page. Was. Awesome.

As I mentioned, I haven't seen many shows this year, but last night ranked as one of the best for me. Firstly, Kate Miller-Heidke was awesome, as usual. Pretty much the same set she did when she was touring with Ben Folds, but my mini crush on her makes it all OK. Is it normal at 30 to have a crush on somebody? Meh, who cares! If you go, definately try to get there early to check out her set.

As for Page, he was simply on last night. Played half new music, half the stuff he wrote for BNL, all with an excellent backing band. His new stuff is actually quite good, with a couple of songs that brought back great memories of the Gordon / Stunt days of BNL. The song he closed the main set with was absolutely phenomenal. Page was conversational with the audience, seemed to have a great time with his band mates and you can tell he really likes his new music. Also, the backing band has a few clasical musicians in it, who play a variety of instruments, so even the old BNL standbys (none of the hits, miind you, the "fan favorites") had a brand new feel to them. Really excellent show!

The Decemberists, January 26th at the Beaocn Theatre...really looking forward to it!

Also, considering going to the Where's The Band Tour at Highline on the 12th. Dustin Kensrue of Thrice, Chris Conley of Saves the Day, Matt Pryor of the Get Up Kids / New Amsterdams and Anthony Raneri of Bayside doing all acoustic sets. Don't know much about Thrice or Bayside but I love the other two, especially Matt Pryor and his solo work. Meh, thinking about it!

I was thinking about that Decemberists show, but decided to hope they're playing at Lollapalooza next year instead. Really want to see them, but have to be smarter about the money I spend on concerts next year, heh.
