2013-14 Albany Devils and ECHL Thread

As long as Sestito is in the organization, I think he is going to be the traditional 1st call up. Whitney is 5th in the AHL in scoring but his 5'6, 170 lbs stature may be something that holds him back from ever getting a chance. Stephen Gionta is even listed bigger than Whitney at 5'7, 185 lbs. Interestingly enough both Whitney and Gionta spent 4 years at Boston College. Maybe if Whitney manages to stick around and be productive long enough in the AHL he'll get a chance (his AHL numbers are better than Gionta's) but I still think they'd be more likely to call up a guy like Sestito or Timmins instead of him.

Whitney was the first 2 way contract signed this year. I guess we shouldn't be shocked if Whitney was called up. This is a luxury Lou hasn't had in years. (a larger pool of players capable of stepping in)  Kelly plays a very physical game. I think he's an AHL signing anyway

Great to see Kinkaid dominating.

A lot can happen between now and next season, but hopefully Kinkaid is truly a candidate to be the Devils' backup in 2014-15, to the tune of 20 games or so.  The Devils can only keep rolling the dice with Marty for so long, and they need to know next season if Schneider can handle a 60+ start workload.

Would also be great to find out what Wedge can do with 50-60 starts in the A next season.

I guess being put on waivers, and then clearing waivers has done wonders for Teddy....

Shame Kinkaid didn't make AHL All-Star team but it's probably for the best. Midweek event and game when Albany plays 2 games the weekend before and 3 the weekend following. Keeps Kinkaid fresh by missing out. His stats so far are impressive: 2nd in GAA (2.07), 8th in SV% min. 20 GP (.920), and t-1st in SO (4).

Joe Whitney missed out too. He's tied 6th in scoring (other 3 guys have better Pts/GP ratios) and tied 10th in assist (3 ahead of him by A/GP ratio).

Kinda funny that an extended Schneider or Brodeur injury might cost Albany a shot at the playoffs, because Wedgewood's numbers so far are utter garbage.

Yeah, Wedge's AHL numbers have been weak from Day 1.

The real bull was no spot for Cal Heeter from Adirondack. He leads in almost every goalie category.
