Dallas Won't Offer A Contract To Hatcher

If Hatcher leaves Dallas I am going to miss him so much. He was a great player for the Stars and it would be a shame to lose him. It's weird to see whats all is happening with the money in Dallas. I can't wait to get this summer over with so then I know where everyone is and I don't have to worry about it for a while.

I think it should be interesting to see where he lands....

Most teams (except maybe the Rags) are looking to dump salary, not add high priced players. I forget where I read this but I heard there won't be as many qualifying offers handed out this year, making a lot of mid tiered players available as UFA's. Now, THAT should make for an interesting offseason.

Apparently COL is cutting DeVries loose too.

From what I hear here in *cheap pop* Dallas, TX (man do I time these or what.. last time I was here we traded Sykora :P ) is that Hatcher wants SICK money and years which he WON'T get not from anyone (and this is still massive backlash from the whole Turgeon thing)... it will make for an interesting week from the laptop :D

Oh boy...can't wait for him to sign with the Ranger$ on July 1; then he can take cheap shots at our players more frequently <_<

No doubt, I can see him going to Ranger$ or Clarke's Gang of Merry Schmucks. Philthy fans are already talking about "how many more days until Hatcher"!! : Great, can you just see that Neanderthal on the friggin CRYERS....

Crash -

if you have time, it would be great to have a "history" of the Turgeon fiasco and all the ramifications last year & still ongoing. What a huge mess!

Well I do have time in the mornings now, since I get woken up twice and nothing to do :P

It all began with a no-trade clause and a bad free agent signing... which we are all grateful for cause when Pierre did not work out in Dallas year one... they couldn't trade him.. and traded Joe Nieuwendyk, for that Arnott guy (I can still laugh out loud at this one a year later).. Stars miss the playoffs and use the pick from the Devils to trade with Columbus for Ron Tugnutt...then in plan B to make Turgeon better they sign Scott Young from the Blues... they though hey it worked there.. why not here ???

Nope.. didn't work and funny enough Young began to produce AFTER being yanked from Pierre's line, andf again a non-productive season from a high profile UNTRADEABLE player... he won't accept any trade so the Stars say SCREW THIS and place him ON WAIVERS during the Finals (we all remember this yes ?) now guess what.. Turegon will NOT ACCEPT A BUYOUT (nice eh ??) but now thinks he might accept a trade.. he better or he's playing in Utah next year :P .. I'd embrace a buyout with labor Armagedon coming personally, and Turegon was the guy they were gonna dump to save $$ and keep the team intact.. and since Turgeon said NO... they can say goodbye to Muller (no loss) Ulf Dahlen (shame a quality guy), and possibly Hatcher/Guerin

..... and you though No-Goal-lik was a cancer ?? :D

Good Crasher.... Turgeon is on my hate list. I liked him in St Louis and thought he was a great player but ever since he came to dallas and he plays with no heart and doesn't fit in. I have been saying they needed to get rid of them once he came here but no one believe me and now look at where he is. I think they will just be extra hard with the guy during training camp to see if he cracks. I want to be there when it happens too!

I have to admit if I didn't have my own recap scouting to do Devils-wise back home, I'd love to come back here and see all the crap good ol Pierre takes in training camp :D

Thanks, Crasher. For all the great things Bob Gainey did for the Stars, wow, was that summer of 2001 ever a stinker!

It's like a row of dominoes. All those bad FA signings of players who didn't fit or Hitch wouldn't let fit started falling - Audette, Lumme, Kamensky, (DiMaio somehow hung on in spite of Hitch!), and they knock down Hitchcock, causing Gainey to step down early, then they knock down Nieuwy & Langs, and now they're knocking down Hatcher and who knows else, and who's still standing???? Turgeon!!! King of the Hill!!!

If only Gainey had known . . . .

What was in the DMN today that made everyone so happy at Andrews board. Something about Guerin staying and signing matty... whats with that NJDev25?

Here you go - from dallasnews.com - Mike Heika's article

The Stars are now expected to stop shopping players such as Guerin and Jason Arnott and will surely keep Richard Matvichuk. Armstrong said he planned to build around players like Matvichuk.

"We still have one of the best teams in the West, and if we don't perform at a level to win a Stanley Cup, then I've really misjudged the character of these people," Armstrong said. "I believe a core group of four defensemen with Matvichuk, [sergei] Zubov, [Darryl] Sydor and (Philippe) Boucher are as good as any in the league."

ok thanks. But why were they shopping them around in the first place? I'm confused with this now. I agree with those players being a big part, but why were they trying to get rid of them?
