Tedenby21
After Philly's re-tooling, the Penguins staying pretty much the same and the Rangers and Isles (to an extent) getting better, where do you think the Devils finish this year? I know there is still moves to be made (I expect Lou to make one or two more minor moves), but like I said above, as of now where do you rank the Devils in the Atlantic and where do you see them finishing in the East? Here's what I think Atlantic: Philadelphia New Jersey (4th/5th in East) Pittsburgh New York Rangers New York Islanders
Scottie2Hottie
I think with the right coaching, we can achieve our rightful place at number 1 in the division. I think with the moves philly made, they are a bit less of a threat however they will still pose the largest that in the division. Quinn01
I think we will make a good run. We pretty much have the exact same team that we finished with and had that amazing run towards the end that scared the sh!t out of everyone else in the NHL world...including other teams fans. Personally, I dont like these kind of threads only because its just a shot in the dark. Its easier to be able to tell how we will do once you see a few games in the pre-season. NHLeBeau44
I can see New Jersey finishing first in the Atlantic. With Crosby's health still up in the air and Philly trading away key role players, the division is up for grabs. The Rangers will stick around until the end and most likely end up 8th or 9th in the East. Devils will finish 3rd in the East behind Washington and Boston. Quinn01
I dont see Philly or Pittsburgh being that much of a threat. Rangers arent going to be any more of a threat then they have been in the past few seasons. Islanders..... .
Scottie2Hottie
Like I said, I firmly believe our season this year will come down to coaching.
LucifersDog
Pittsburgh's two stars will be back, Philly has made changes, Rangers have improved the Devils have stayed the same. It will be a tough division. I think the Devils as this point will be 3rd. I don't even know who the coach is yet that will make a difference. SS-SS
Too early IMO...there is probably some trades that Lou will be doing we also didn't see what our rookies will bring at camp and who is going to make the team or not and most important we don't have a coach yet so right now IMO we can't really tell. But if I had to give an answer for fun I'll say last just too stay away from bad JUJU...Devils always seems to perform when everybody is putting them way down in the standings so yea...last in the league !!!!! mmajeski06
Went with third. But they could easily be first.
ZeroGravityFat
the way they played without parise, i have to believe they are easily contenders for first in the east with a decent coach.
SatansDevils
If the Devils stay healthy they could have a shot of finishing 1st in the division and win the division. Have a feeling they will finish 2nd behind the Penguins if they stay healthy and Crosby and Malkin is back healthy. Flyers will have a bad year with all the trades they made and especially losing Richards and Carter. Bryzgalov will steal a few games here and there but he won't win it for them. If Devils stay healthy.... Devils Penguins Rangers Flyers Islanders Could see.... Tedenby21
easily first. You may be right, but why are you so confident?
Mayday
Definitely some major shifting this offseason (Richards, Carter leaving Philly, Richards to NYR, Pittsburgh losing some depth players, Flyers gaining a goalie, etc.). It seems as though the Flyers may be a hit or miss team this year. Although they signed a #1 goalie it forced them to trade away some of the best centers in the division. Was it even worth it? Washington got Vokoun at a amazing 1.5M and its not like Bryzgalov is that much of a better goalie. They have added Talbot, Lilja, Schenn, Jagr, etc. as the expense of the departure of Leino, Carcillo, Versteeg, Carter, Richards, etc. The Rangers added Richards at a decent price but I'm far from convinced on that their a cup contender. Not to sure on the Isles in regards to their additions and departures. The Penguins are a bit more in interesting. They've lost Rupp, Talbot, etc. but have added Sullivan for Crosby/Malkin. Sidney's health is still a bit of a question mark but they are still superior on defense and in the goal. As for the Devils we've upped Greene and Moose to add safety and depth. But have we made any major improvements....? I'd say... 5.Islanders 4.Rangers 3.Flyers 2. Devils 1. Penguins
ZeroGravityFat
You may be right, but why are you so confident? just the way they played under lemaire, with a decent defensive coach they were basically unbeatable even with parise and taormina sidelined. tao brings pp confidence, parise brings goals. i have to believe we can win the last atlantic division crown. ghdi
I had to say 2nd. My faith isn't there yet with whats on the ice and I think this division will be very competitive. I think we have a good shot at being really good and an equally good shot at being average. I love the drafting of Larsson and while I think he will pay dividends to our W/L at some point, its not going to be this year. I'm okay with re-signing Greene for now and I think Hedberg is a steal. Parise and the coach will say a lot about my faith going into next season. I am really excited for October though.
Niaure
Maybe I will not be so original, but I think everything will depend on coaching. If our new coach will fit well with our players, 1st place will be no surprise for me
IAMDINOCOSTA
Was talking about this just the other day with someone. Most Devils fans I run into feel a sense of despair - dread even, over the prospects for the upcoming season, and I'm not sure why that is. With Parise back at 100%, Kovy feeling like he belongs here now, I think if the Devs can secure their blueline a bit more, have Larsson make the club out of training camp, if Marty has one more run left in him (does he really?) and if Lou can hit a home run on a coach who can re-deploy "Devils Hockey", I see this team having a very good chance to get back to the post season. The more I think about this upcoming season, the more I believe this year will be all about redemption for the organization.
