NJDevs4978
Sounds like pitching in the PCL is doing EXACTLY what we all feared it would...it's fvcking with Zack Wheeler's head, for a variety of reasons: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/harper-vegas-air-leaving-mets-wheeler-high-dry-article-1.1330857 The astonishing part is they sent Edgin down to AA cause they didn't want his confidence shot, so worrying about an expendable reliever is more pressing than our top prospect?! What it all boils down to, sadly, is that having your AAA team in the PCL sucks. It's a rock and hard place scenario...Zack's probably too good for AA, but is playing in pitcher's hell in AAA. I get the feeling he'd really REALLY have to struggle with the 51s before the Mets would even consider sending him to AA. I think he's going to be in AAA until he's deemed ready for the majors. '7'
Solid start today for Wheeler. 6.2 innings. 5 hits, 1 ER, 8k's 1 BB Also knocked in a run This is more important than anything the Mets do today (or did yesterday) Edited April 30, 2013 by '7'
nmigliore
Wanted to watch that game but Reno's camera angle was terrible. Oh well. Good start nonetheless, definitely his best one of the early year.
'7'
got another bad feeling about this one Wright destroyed that 3-0 pitch. Stupid ballpark. That's a HR even at Citi Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'
'7'
And here we go. Stayed with him 1 batter too long for some inane reason. now in typical Mets fashion we should get the defensive miscue. Some sort of botched DP...or perhaps a HBP ah yes Recker fanning. Of course this had to happen in the 9th. Recker literally missed a pitch. Wasn't 10 feet over his head either Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'
'7'
And now the umpiring as Coghlan clearly slides off the base and should be called out. But why make the right call when you can fvck the Mets? dear god this is just too easy to predict. and here comes the double in the gap to end it Why the fvck is he even starting the inning at 100 pitches? Only to the Mets can this happen consecutive nights. This is like our 3rd mindfvck disaster of the month. Teams usually have 3 of these PER YEAR Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'
nmigliore
He overslid the bag, how is he not out?! What a joke. EXPAND INSTANT REPLAY. Well this is what happens when you can't fvcking score.

You can't let Kevin Slowey dominate like that I don't fvcking care at this point. Put it in Dobbs earhole. Sick of him already. he's going to drive the run in anyway, might as well drill him. Still hate him from his Philly days so make him earn it Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'
'7'
Recker is cut tomorrow. I don't even care. Who knows who's next on the depth chart. Just cut his miserable worthless ass. The throw, the two passed balls. That's a choke job. He couldn't handle the 9th. So get the fvck out. Terry Collins is a fvcking dolt for starting the inning with Hefner at his pitch count. Lyon needs to start the inning, might've been a different result And I understand the offense argument. But you're playing the Marlins. Get the last 3 outs And this is the difference between the Mets and other franchises. Last night can happen to any team (it does) but last night AND tonight can ONLY happen to the Mets. With the passed balls and and umpire buffoonery....how is that call not made? IT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! Only the Mets can have this kind of sh!t rain down on them after a solid, tidy 8 innings by Hefner Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'
nmigliore
This team is headed for the dumps; 5 games under .500 and a weekend at Turner Field looming. We all knew this would very likely be a bad year regardless but jeez, the season is falling apart and we're just hitting May. At least in previous years they've been competitive for the first few months of the season. On pace to win 65 games isn't acceptable either. This team isn't good but they are better than that. If Wheeler puts up say...two more good starts in a row. Similar to today. Would that be enough to get the callup? Sucks D'Arnaud got hurt. He'd probably be here right now. nmigliore
I feel stupid blaming the umpire but this series could easily be 2-0 Mets if Tim McClelland didn't botch two calls. First was this one - the Ruggiano walk vs Marcum last night. Check out where pitch #6 is: Hey, that's a strike! But it was a called a ball and Ruggiano took his base. He later scored the winning run. And then of course this tonight: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=26731377&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_26731377&v=3 That was even uglier since it was SO clear Dobbs came off the bag; you seriously didn't even need instant replay to confirm it. '7'
Wow, that's not even on the borderline of strike/low. Pretty clear strike 3. I hope MLB mans up and reprimands McClelland Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'

They might as well bide their time until he passes his dreaded service time deadline anyway, not like an extra couple of Wheeler starts are going to make the difference in this disaster of a season. Colorado Rockies 1976
Jesus H. The Mets have actually gotten three terrific starts out of Hefner (his overall season numbers are actually good now), and they lose all three of them. I think Collins has to go pretty soon...this team is lifeless. Not saying it's all his fault, and clearly the Mets have been unlucky (what else is new?), but he's gone at the end of the year anyway. The Mets couldn't have made it more obvious that they didn't care about 2013, but suffice it to say fans are going to catch onto that in a hurry. The Mets could be looking at 15k and less crowds in non-Harvey starts very soon...Sandy has to at least create the illusion that 2013 means SOMETHING to his team. '7'
What's Thole doing in Toronto? Has he even seen the field this year? Might as well try to get him back here...gotta be better than Recker
nmigliore
What's Thole doing in Toronto? Has he even seen the field this year? Might as well try to get him back here...gotta be better than Recker He's in AAA. He wasn't even good enough to beat out 41-year old Henry Blanco for Toronto's backup catching gig. The backup catching duties are even less important than they normally are though; the Mets could have David Ross or Mike Nickeas and it wouldn't make a huge difference with how often John Buck plays. '7'
Once we get swept by Atlanta to make it 10 losses in a row, that'll be it for Terry. The team is as dead as they were during that massive 2nd half swoon. He can't survive this Edited May 1, 2013 by '7'
