Par9
Here's a trade that would help our center situation. Lou would never do this but is the trade fair or does one team have a advantage? To San Jose: 1st Round Pick Halichuck Greene 4th Round Pick To NJ: Patrick Marleau Christian Erhoff Why San Jose does it: They are tight on the cap and Marleau is unhappy with the team. The Sharks have been trying to trade him. Halichcuk goes to give them depth on the right side, you could make Bergfors go but take out the 1st Rounder and make the 4th a 2nd or 3rd. Greene goes to give them some D youth replacing Ehroff. A first rounder to let them try to draft something where the Sharks are weak. Why New Jersey does it: The Devils need a center bottom line. Marleau could put up a near 40 goal year and would be perfect for our second line. We gain Ehroff as a young defender that reminds me of Martin. Greene goes because he has potential just he hasn't worked out here in Jersey. Thoughts and or promblems.

Really nothing in it for SJ, we get the best 2 players in the deal and they don't even get a NHL'er
rawker
doubt that will happen no way we would get two good players for mostly nothing.
Devils731
That would get hung up on by the Sharks, IMO.

Really nothing in it for SJ, we get the best 2 players in the deal and they don't even get a NHL'er this. marleau necessitates a pretty large return. error is fairly valuable, especially on the pp. if you want to pick off sharks, go for the likely trade-bait: cheechoo, michalek, murray, ehrhoff (but not in combo with another highly-skilled player). USC09
I don't see Marleau coming to NJ, even though it wouldn't surprise me. I just think that Lou is going to go for a two way player that fits in with Jacques Lemaire's philosophy. Besides Marleau now is listed as a Left Wing, and he had a great season in that position after a terrible 2007-2008 campaign at center. I expect something to happen withing the next week or two, but if nothing happens until the start of the season, our lineup will be: Parise Zajac Langenbrunner Rolston Elias Bergfors Pandolfo Pelley Shanahan Leblond Zubrus Clarkson Extras: Halischuk, Pikkarainen Notes: I don't think having Elias at center will work long-term, so I expect Lou to get someone. Prucenterrules
I don't see marleau coming to Jersey. I still like however that Lou is going to make a trade before the start of camp.
Devs4LIFE
The whole idea of getting rid of Marleau is to try and drop some cap space for the sharks so we'd have to give up someone who can potentially put in goals and doesn't take up any space, the only person I can think of on the Devils who can do that is Bergfors. Giving up Elias or Rolston would put the Sharks back where they began although it would give them a more natural left wing. A player I'm more interested in on the Sharks is Torey Mitchell, he is an unsigned RFA so getting him might somewhat cheap, pick and a prospect maybe? He could play third line center
MantaRay
What??? Great more fantasy hockey "trade proposals". Why don't we offer them Pandolfo for Thornton while we have them on the phone.

We offer them that after they turn down the marleau trade.

Doubt they would give him up. He is so underrated. One of my favorite players on the sharks, he works so hard every shift. I think alot more people would be talking about him now if it wasn't for him being out all last season.

Yeah he's a great team player, stick him on a line with Clarkson, that'd be so much fun to watch.

maxpower
this trade is awful. San Jose would probably piss their pants laughing. and you're adding $9M in payroll and cap by doing this. actually $9.5M because Halischuk is an AHL player.
