Triumph
I thought I'd get a jump on this thread, even though thefiestygoat will likely be its main poster. Probable Roster - Definites: Forward: LW Chad Wiseman LW Mike Hoeffel LW Joe Whitney LW Jean-Sebastian Berube LW Stephane Veilleux C Steven Zalewski C Tim Sestito C Brad Mills C Kory Nagy C Darcy Zajac F Matt Anderson RW Stephen Gionta RW Nathan Perkovich RW Mike Sislo RW Bryan Haczyk RW Myles Stoesz Defense: D Peter Harrold D Jay Leach D Dan Kelly D Brandon Burlon D Eric Gelinas D Harry Young G Jeff Frazee G Keith Kinkaid Possibles: RW Nick Palmieri LW/C Adam Henrique RW Cam Janssen LW/RW Vladimir Zharkov D Alex Urbom D Matt Corrente D Matt Taormina D Adam Larsson Theoretical Opening Lines: Wiseman-Zalewski-Anderson Veilleux-Sestito-S. Gionta Hoeffel-Mills-Sislo Berube-D. Zajac-Stoesz ex: Haczyk, Nagy, Whitney, Perkovich Larsson-Leach Harrold-Urbom Gelinas-Corrente ex: Burlon, Sova, Kelly, Young While I expect Albany's defense to be better, I don't expect the offense to be any good at all. Joe Whitney could be a find, but without Henrique, this team is going to struggle mightily to score unless one of the forwards really steps up. Hopefully they don't end up dead last in penalty minutes again, although the absence of PL3 and Louis Robitaille should help on that front. Derlique
Gelinas, Burlon and possibly Urbom should all be getting big minutes
Unknown Soul
Leach won't play. They're not gonna give a 32 y.o. a spot say a Matt Taormina or a Brandon Burlon can have. Plus Palmieri is practically a definite NJ Devil this year.

Plus Palmieri is practically a definite NJ Devil this year. They have guys like that for their experience and leadership, plus the fact that he's a better defenseman than all of those guys. Of course he'll play.

I think he's better defensively, but Taormina definitely brings more to the team.
Unknown Soul
but why would you take away experience from a kid and give it to a veteran. remember it's the AHL not the NHL.
Devils731
but why would you take away experience from a kid and give it to a veteran. remember it's the AHL not the NHL. You need to have some stability on the team or everyone starts to pick up bad habits. By having a guy who understands his position playing, it allows the younger players to learn the proper teamwork in game.
thefiestygoat
Albany just had their first pre-season game defeating Connecticut 3-1. Wiseman led the way with a goal and an assist. Perkovich and Zajac had the other goals. Gelinas and Burlon picked up an assist each on the power play. Kinkaid picked up the win stopping 30 of 31 shots. Here is the score sheet. The next pre-season game will be Friday against Portland. Edited September 28, 2011 by thefiestygoat
Jas0nMacIsaac
Gelinas with 3 shots on goal in the game. Good start for Kinkaid.

thefiestygoat
Sislo had a goal and an assist with Whitney scoring the other one as Albany skated to a 2-2 tie with Portland as the game was called after 2 periods due to complications with the zamboni and ice. Clermont made 15 saves on 17 shots. The final pre-season game will be tomorrow night against Adirondack.

Zalewski and Anderson had the other goals with Banwell and Burlon picking up an assist each. Frazee had 36 saves on 37 shots. Albany opens the regular season against Springfield next Saturday night at 7 in Albany.

But the way Kinkaid looks, its gonna be hard for him to get at least 40 games to do so. I think Frazee is going to be given a real shot to get his career back on track. After being up and down in college and then having a real solid first year in the AHL, he's gone back to that high and low trend. While we all want him to do well on the stat sheet, I think his biggest hurdle this year is just staying healthy to be able to get in that many potential games. Triumph
So it's looking like this will be Albany, at least to start: Wiseman-Henrique-Anderson Whitney-Zalewski-Zharkov Veilleux-Sestito-S. Gionta Hoeffel-D. Zajac-Janssen ex: Perkovich, J. Berube, Nagy, Stoesz, Haczyk Taormina-Leach Harrold-Urbom Gelinas-Corrente ex: Kelly, Sova, Young, Burlon, Banwell (?) Frazee Kinkaid This is the best team that Albany's had in a while. And I know I said that last year, but the defense here is quite good - I know I have him in the top pair, but Leach may be the one on the outside. Triumph
Albany will run into issues with the Development rule though - remember, you have to dress 12 skaters who've played less than 260 pro games, and 13 skaters who've played less than 320 games. Players over 320: Pelley, Fraser, Leach, Harrold, Veilleux, Wiseman, Janssen Players between 260 and 320: Sestito, S. Gionta I don't think that they will send both Pelley and Fraser down, as a result.

He has wasted a least 2 million in players signed and this jumble mess he has going in Albany.
